Great Advice ! Water first, always. When I use to get them I had to jump out of bed, put my foot flat on the floor and put weight on it. It hurts to do, but everything goes back into place quicker. Anyone ever get them in the upper inner thigh? WOW ! those hurt.

tube came apart from port
54Shirley replied to myrann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are a couple other places to put that port. Ask your surgeon and see what he recommends. If he does relocate that Port,, have him fix the Hernia at the same time. Better then going back twice. -
Discouraged with the band.

Have you ever looked at McDonalds as a addiction! You said it yourself! It's like a crack habit. You need to let it go, and get back to your job of taking care of you. There's times that I am Hungry, and I know I need a fill, but the Ins. only allows that every 90 days. So I have to wait, and except the way it is, and get buy with that. Like it or not.. You have a JONES for Mickey D. Leave it go. -

Lactose and Whey intolerant - Protein options?
54Shirley replied to sorcia1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you mean MUSCLE MILK I don't drink that. I only drink MUSCLE MILK LIGHT. Let me know if I can help you. Also look it up on ebay, and then scroll over the Ingredients. -
OMG, can you overdose on protein drinks?
54Shirley replied to Carly246's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure on the truth of this one, but,,, my Old Surgeon Told all of us "that if you eat to much Protein, it can be hard on the Kidneys, and it can cause weight gain ! So you can believe that I stayed between 60-80G a day. -
Possible band slip???
54Shirley replied to IrishHare92's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as you can feel the swelling in your pouch, stay on liquid. Because It can swell back up with regular food, if it's to soon. Just some words of wisdom to remember. Shirley -
Discouraged with the band.
54Shirley replied to TanksMama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You did a nice job VENTING ! But it's time you get back to working with the Band, and stop feeling SORRY for yourself. It took time to come on, and it's gonna take time to come off. So far you have done a nice job with the WL, so don't let yourself get tied up in a PITTY PARTY ! Because I sure ain't coming. You make it sound like a CANCER ! That's not for me, and I don't believe that you just can't get any where with the Band.... BULL ****! I lost 145Lbs. before with the Band. Dr. thought he blew the Band, wouldn't see me anymore, then lost my job in Michigan, so there went the Ins.... I'm starting all over again, with a New Surgeon, and it is slowly coming off. I have 2 artificial Knees, and I walk every other day. I am trying ! I started getting fat at 6 months, (RETAINING FLUID) I fought to live then, and I am still trying to do my best. In the Winter, I will go to a Physical Rehab, and Rent out their Gym For a small Fee. They are doing this now, I suggest you look around, and get a price, and sign up! The People in there are not perfect, and they might even be interested as to why your there? They are just folks. But if you don't want a Gym,, These places offer the same thing, and a lot less $. So Missy crawl yourself out of the Blues Cocoon, and Spread Those Wings.. You are Lucky enough to be Banded (LOT OF PEOPLE CAN'T). and Do your JOB! You already know that that Band is to HELP YOU ! You must do the work. Shirley. -
A question for anyone who cheated on their pre- op diet
54Shirley replied to Atsirc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Dr. had me on a 12 month Diet. When he said 2 weeks liquid. I was going O common! . He smiled and said OK keep up the diet, and 3 days before surgery, you go straight to liquids. I made sure I had my Last Supper though. So I guess you can call that cheating..... -
That sounds like my homemade Turkey Burgers, and they are good ! Try a dipping sauce... Sometimes I even dip Chicken strips, and that's white meat. But BBQ Sauce or the Light Ranch makes it possible to chew up(BECAUSE OF THE MOISTURE) and, it's not really fattening. My husband will Grill Chicken Legs, and I will take 1 and add BBQ Sauce to that. FANTASTIC...

Adding flavor to my shakes
54Shirley replied to kittyforet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isn't that Good, and Easy to make... Also good for the whole Family. Serve it like Fluff, or Ice Cream. It's that good. Glad you liked it, Shirley. -
I can't eat the Breast, because it's way to dry for me. Regular Chicken Dark Meat gets hung up sometimes too. So,,,, I use something for dipping the dark meat in, and it makes a difference. Plus chew it up well.. I use BBQ Sauce, or Light Ranch for dipping.

Lactose and Whey intolerant - Protein options?
54Shirley replied to sorcia1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Muscle Milk contains Whey ! I looked up Muscle Milk Light, and 2 conflicting answers. (MAYBE IT DEPENDS ON THE FLAVOR, I HAVE NO IDEA.) One had no types of Whey at all in the ingredients. The strawberry had several different kinds listed in the ingredients. So I looked at a jug, and I don't see any Whey ingredients listed. That's the best I can tell you, Wright of the Jug. -
Anyone else dealing with a knee injury as well?
54Shirley replied to 14isabella's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 2 artificial knees, torn shoulder (ROTATOR CUFF), Hernia repair,Osteoarthritis, and the band placed in. You talk about limitations ! Whew. I walk, thats nothing major, but it still is exercise. I have found out that you can go to a Physical Rehab., and RENT their Gym out, you don't even have to be a patient where I'm going for this Winter. It's cheaper then a GYM. Call around, and inquire about it.. If you do have to go to rehab for the knee, then sign up once you have been a patient -
Lactose and Whey intolerant - Protein options?
54Shirley replied to sorcia1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Muscle Milk Light is very good. The only one I didn't care for was chocolate. Now there Chocolate Milk flavor is very good though. Just google Muscle Milk Light, and start searching for the cheapest price. -
Thanks ! I am going to my PCP on Friday. I'll give her the name of this medicine, and maybe she'll give me a script for it....
-
I'll take the name of that O.K.......

For a snack or a meal. Add some sugar free pudding to the cottage cheese. I use Pistachio, and it is really good. You taste the pudding instead, and it's not fattening at all. So buy a couple of boxes, and experiment. It only takes about 1 -1 1/2 tsp to a 1/2 cup stir well and that's it. Enjoy. Shirley.

FAVORITE PROTEIN DRINK AND BAR
54Shirley replied to WinningLoser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The other ones that I named by MUSCLE MILK LIGHT are very good also. I love the STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKE. I am Lactose intolerant also, that's another reason that I drink MUSCLE MILK LIGHT, In powder form. I do the pudding thing all the time, it's great ! I also use Cottage cheese, and sprinkle a tsp. and a 1/2 over the cottage cheese. Stir it well. You don't even taste the cottage cheese do to the S.F. Pudding Google Muscle Milk Light and a lot of places will come up to sell them .I go with the cheapest, and free shipping. It's worth a look. -

FAVORITE PROTEIN DRINK AND BAR
54Shirley replied to WinningLoser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use MUSCLE MILK LIGHT If you type that in the Internet, you can hit some nice prices. Don't buy chocolate though, it's lousy. I like Peanut Butter chocolate chocolate milk strawberry milkshake Cookies n cream vanilla creme all thes are lights. So that's 195 calories, 25G of Protein. This is some good stuff, and I have a shake everyday. The bars you can look at, at the stores. I don't know if you want a Meal Replacement bar, which is High in calories, and Protein. These are at your Pharmacy chains usually. Or low cal., but not that high in protein. Walmarts sells Atkins. There pretty good. I read them like a candy bar, so I know what I like. But then I look at the calories too, if to much... It goes back for something else. Have Fun in the stores shopping, look for sales too. Shirley. -
On my last fill I feel nauseated morning, noon, and especially at night. It's a little to tight, but it's getting better. I go to the Surgeons Office the end of next month. If it's still not better I will have 0.25cc removed. I was at 2.50, and went to 2.75 in a 4cc band. So just a tad uncomfortable. But,,,, like they told me too. We don't want you to gain weight either. So I'll see.
