Suggestions for chewable vitamins (Calcium, Multi, and Vitamin D
54Shirley replied to Diva01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
[quote name=)' timestamp='1309355212' post='1632668] I was told anything chewable except gummies. My nutritionist said that they don't work as well. I also like the Viactive but would also like to try the generic versions if they are cheaper. How many Flintstones does one need to take? Well I'm pretty heavy so I take 3 or 4 a day. Smaller person would take 2. There on sale now at Rite Aids if you have one by you, then take in the coupon. Thats what I am going to do. -

Were all put on FLINTSTONE Vitamins WITH CHOLINE. I have had substitutes, that say their equal. But NO Way ! look up the choline, and see what your getting. Almost 5 yrs. on them, and be on them for ever. Their in the orange box. Get a coupon from the Website and try them. When I am Hungry, I take 4 of them out and chew them. It takes away the Hunger too. -
What makes a lap band not want to accept food?
54Shirley replied to Greenwood-Lail's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dry foods, make sure there moist. Eating to FAST, so when you eat, if you feel the slightest tightness, STOP ! Don't even give eating a second thought. When it goes thew the pouch, and empties in the stomach (YOU WILL FEEL IT) Then you can go back and have a little more. If you have to heat it up, use the microwave. Remember, when you feel it uncomfortable in the pouch don't eat another bite, just let it pass. -
You don't want to burn out with all that hard Gym work. Steady as she goes. In other words Consistency is really the key with the Band. I been where you are at. Do to a Dr.'s F*ck Up. So I regained almost all of it on a empty band, and found a New Surgeon, and he found nothing wrong with the band. So I am now getting a second chance without being in the RED ZONE. I lost it before, and I will again. It's just that this time I know better, and I will let it come off, without sweating over it.

Calorie Counting VS Smaller Portion Sizes
54Shirley replied to lea3277's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I journal my food on myfitnesspal.com , I look up what I am going to have for dinner. It tells me my 4oz portion size, and what the calories, and Protein are. I then continue to figure out my journal. But the 2 go hand in hand for me. Or it can cause a problem, In that case I will have something else. So journal first, then eat. Don't forget to journal your exercise. -
FROM LAPBAND TO GASTRIC BYPASS
54Shirley replied to CASSIEME1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Any one that I new that had the Bypass is DEAD. I went to a funeral last summer, and I thought she died of CANCER, NO ! She had the Bypass, and died from the Mal absorption off calories, and Protein, and what ever else your body needs. So she starved to Death just wanting to be thin. I would never have this done, with what I have seen. -

Get a Pill Splitter or Crusher. Ebay sows a tall Red one, and it is actually 3 separate locking containers. Splitter, Crusher, and Carrier. My Husband has one, and it's handy. -
Go on to My profile, and click on Topics. I want you to read the whole thing. I lost weight before. Switched Surgeons, and am back to doing it again. If you , your band, your Doctor all work together. this is doable. You say your gaining weight anyway, so what have you got to lose but weight ! Sure it's different.. But if you needed a new valve for your heart, would you think twice. I sure hope not. Well this can cut your life too. Yes you will be different, You will have good, and bad days. That comes with the band, and life ! You say you want to raise your kid ? Then don't take the risk, and shorten it, or shoot your knees like I did. Or Diabetes. Your not weighing this out right. Your scared, and your using the little one for a excuse. I am delighted that I am banded. Everyone that I new that had Bypass is DEAD. So think clearly, you have a chance do it while you can. I know I am glad I am Banded, and that's going on 5yrs. So read the info under Topics.

Yes it is very normal! ! Have you tried small spoonfuls of pudding, just to let it dissolve in your mouth. You can Puree Hardy homemade Soups into a liquid, these will help coat the stomach. I will be 57 in a couple of months, and have been banded for almost 5 yrs. I know this is hard, but don't let it get to you. This is one day at a time, and you will see, that this is worth it.. Give it a thought on what is creamy like pudding, that you can let melt in your mouth. See what you can come up with. -
"YES ! ! !" You won't be sorry...

WHY????? It's not bad Really ! I have had DENTAL Work that was more painful. They can give you something for the Anxiety. They see this allot! But Honey,, It's Nothing. Yes your a little sore with the Gas, and the Incession, but it's surgery. That's expected. Trust me on this one. It is not a big Deal. It sounds unreal because it's Bariatric Surgery. It's easy, just read the success stories from recent surgeries, and you will see for yourself. Give your Doc a call, and see if they will do it again. Tell them it made you sick from the thought of surgery, and they should give you something for it. Shirley.

Is it just me... (preop diet)
54Shirley replied to crash878905's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just some advice from a "VETERAN"? What ever. When I was banded 10/31/06 All Bariatric Patients (DIDN"T MATTER WHAT YOU HAD DONE) We were put on FLINTSTONES COMPLETE WITH CHOLINE. Now if any of you are laughing, I'm here to say they work! I have tried Costcos, and off brand, and even though the ingredients on the label is the same.... It's not as good. We are put on them for life ! I chew 4 a day, and they keep me Peppy. They also help prevent Bruising for me. If you look up Choline, you will see what it is. MUST CONTAIN CHOLINE OR THEIR NO GOOD! You can get a coupon on line, from the Flintstone Web Site. They are in the Orange Box. When you feel hungry, chew your vitamens, and it will fill you up. -

DISGUSTED!! Waste of time!
54Shirley replied to nipper75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That was one of the best Posts I have seen in a long time. Excellent Job Dave.:tea: In the meantime,,, when you are getting your fills, You will find yourself eating maybe every 5 hours. So it does suppress the appetite. If you start getting hungry every 2 or 3 hrs., It's time for a fill, or if you want to deal with it, and take control,,, that's up to you. -
DISGUSTED!! Waste of time!
54Shirley replied to nipper75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I posted up above about myfitnespal.com It's FREE ! So no money is spent. It will figure out how much you should be eating a day, and then tell you if you stick to it, you could way so much in 5 weeks. That alone is a incentive to me. Plus it tracks your work outs. Check it out, it can't hurt. -
