  1. I first think about my calorie intake for the day, shooting for 800-1200 calorie window, with 60 to 80 G. of Protein So then I figure out my meals. I drink with every meal that I have. It's to painful to try to eat by itself. So I eat some, and drink some, so I don't get stuck. I checked this with my Surgeon, and like he said I am to sensitive ! So if this works, then do it... I eat 3 meals a day, that way.. and a snack ? Well if its wet like light yogurt, I can do it without Water. Even mushies would get stuck for me, and you bet I chew it up well ! So I drink some water. As long as I stay within that window for my calorie intake,,, I'm fine.. Pop is not a good thing because it's carbonated. I drank a glass of ROOT BEER one summer, and I thought it was going to kill me... Could be me though ! But I know he said no pop, alcohol, or chewing gum (could slip down, and get stuck.) So I am a Cheap Date... LOL.. Hope that answers some stuff, that's how the band works for me, and I am very comfterable with it. Shirley.
  2. Go to myfitnesspal.com you can keep track of all your Protein, calories, and exercise. Also it's FREE ! A lot of us are there, and I know I use it everyday.
  3. Now that some weight is coming of, I can see that Beautiful hourglass shape. Yesterday a neighbor who had not seen me in about 6 months complimented me on my WL. He told me that you could see that hourglass shape a mile away. That's how much it stands out... I always did like the fact that I did have a nice one... So,,, glad to see it's back. So what do you see about yourself in the Mirror that you love about yourself ?
  4. It all sounds so good to me ! ! ! Keep em coming.....

    Does it hurt???

I just had a EKG recently, and by the time they hooked me up to stickers they place on you, then turned the machine on,,, not even 10 seconds they turned it off, and pulled off their stickers. That was it. Upper GI is painless too. So No, the tests don't hurt at all.

    Can you see your band?

Where on your body does your Dr. fill your Port ? If that's the spot then your seeing your Port. If that area is giving you pain or anything, then I would ask my Dr. if I were you. But if thats were abouts your fills are at, then your seeing your port. Especially when you lay flat on your back. Shirley.

    Advice ER or wait?

If you went to the Hospital where you had your band done. They will have a Bariatric Surgeon there, or on call, or,,,, call yours. If you go to a E.R. that knows nothing about Bariatric Surgery,,, then No one would be able to really help you with the band. If it worsens, because you have a high tolerance to pain, then you should be seen. Good Luck, Shirley.

    Cut Opening and Side pains

First I am going to ask you are you getting the proper amount of Water in ? If not that will cause constipation. Also pain Meds will cause it to. If none of this pertains to your situation, then call your Dr. Tomorrow... You need to relax and that's a fact o.k. ! ! ! Stress with the band can cause you to close up some, feel more tight. (even though your not filled). That's not good for the band or you. So don't try to chill. Just do it ! It's for your own health, and use with the band. You mention that full feeling. Are you filled a little ? Because that could be normal, or it could be due to stress. Make a list of questions. Call your Dr., and ask him. Sounds like you need to. Shirley.

    Advice ER or wait?

That depends on you. Are you in extreme pain, vomiting, anything that' would make you think you need to go to the E.R. ? If so go ! If not, and you can wait to see your Dr.,,, then wait. Again,,, if you need you think to go in,,,, then go !
  10. Yeah I do ! If you have not been filled under fluoroscope then try that route. It's like a X-RAY machine that lets you watch the entire procedure. A Dr. or P.A. will run the test. Your band has a FILL LINE. They can take you right up to your fill line, and it's done... No guessing or trying and hoping, just right to the point. You fast on liquids for 3 or 4 days, then try mushies for a couple of days, and then try food. I had Hernia repair also, and a H e l l,,, of a time with a surgeon in aftercare. I got a new Dr., and they ran the Fluoroscopy, and it worked. I followed the the fast, and the diet of 800-1200 calories a day, and I am losing weight. Were talking October,,, I will be banded for 5 years, and now it works..... Try the Fluoroscopy, and tell them to take you straight to your fill line. Your tired of this band not working.. Good Luck to you, Shirley.
  11. I guess all Doc's are different. My band is in place, but part of my stomach is pulled up threw the and over the band then stitched . He Told me "if you drink Diet Coke, It will eat the stitching away from the band. " It's done that way by some Dr.'s to help prevent slippage. Shirley.

    On the brink

Your almost there, and soon will be. My Doc's rule is anytime they fill or unfill the band, you do a liquid fast for 3 days. You do that, and I'll bet you enter ONEDERLAND ! Good Luck, Shirley.

    Telling someone new

Good for you.... Sistersue.... Hope you enjoy it.
  14. Well,,,, once the fluids continue to go down, it might take with it anything that is hung up on the band, Don't eat anything at all, just stay on liquids. No doubt your swollen too. You could be feeling the swelling also. That will go down in a day or two. Take Care, Shirley.
  15. YAY !!! Can you feel the CONFIDENCE ! in that comment ! I sure can..... A big CONGRATS ! Thrown your way... Shirley. P.S. I was not NAKED when my neighbor seen me, and complimented me. So I'm not going there...
  16. Glad to hear it ! But you forgot to post what it is that you like about your body.... Care to comment !
  17. I got patients like I said, and this is my second time around. First time I lost over 120lbs pre op, I took of 151 total. then the Doc screwed up, made a bad call, and deflated me. I regained almost all back, maybe 25 lbs. shy of where I was. So I started again this January, and I now have a excellent surgeon for aftercare (THAT'S IMPORTANT !) So I learned to Wait for what I want... Great Job on the weight Loss for being pre band.... I know it's hard, and frustrating at times, but that just shows how strong of a person you really are. Good Health to you, Shirley.
  18. Yep ! I hear that one too ! I love these curves, Eventually the waist will get nice and small. I got time,,, O.K. Times Up ! LOL. I have got some patience, so as long as it keeps coming off,,,, I'll get there,,, eventually. Shirley.

    Telling someone new

I'm not Dating, I'm Married. But ! I know that I don't have to tell everything about me to someone new. I would just say I am watching what I eat, trying to take some weight off. Something like that. You know who your with, so you should know what to say. A lot of people are shocked when they find out that you have the Band, so ,,, I don't advertise... I did when I first got Banded, and that was a big mistake. So in time we moved up north, and I don't have to tell anyone my business. Especially since they will get bent out of shape about it. If you 2 are serious about each other, and have plans for Marriage ! Well,, yeah,,,, that's different. Then it's time to speak up, and then see how he takes the news. After all,,, It's not that big of a deal right ?
