Stress Causing Lap Band Restriction And Getting Stuck?
54Shirley replied to Secret Bandit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep ! Most patients are tighter in the Morning. Stress is a big factor, on tightening you up. So try not to get to tense. "It can get miserable." Also the weather can play into it. If we get a lot of Humidity. "pressure" You will feel tight until the weather passes. That depends on how tight you are in the first place. If your snug, then you might notice this also. -

October Bandsters!!!

Cyndy ! Since your not to crazy about working out, but yet are thinking about joining a Gym..... Before you throw your money away for a membership,, why don't you try out what I do, and,,, I love it. I rent out the Gym 3 X a week from a Physical Therapy place. I pay $25.00 a month/NO Contract ! Now depending on Location prices will very. These places are doing what they can for money to survive, and it's working. I use the Gym for 60 minutes, then 45 minutes of Aqua-cise in a Heated Pool. Call around, and see what you can find, If you have Ins. that covers Physical Therapy. You can go to your PCP for whatever bothers you, and tell him/her you want PT. Then hook up with them after your term is done. I did that down state, and it was the Dr., that suggested this type of program. It Works. -

Regurgiation, Choking And Reflux At Nightime, After Getting A Lap Band Fill
54Shirley replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just went through this also. My Band was filled, and a little tight. I ended up in the Hospital for a different Medical Problem, and a Nurse tried to stuff some crushed pills down my throat. Well, after all the Dry Heaving, the swelling never did go down. So when Discharged I made a appointment to see my Dr... He sat me up, gave me a glass of Water and started to withdraw Fluid while I swallowed. When the water fell through, I gave a Thumbs up, so he new I was good. I lost 1/2 of my fill ! (was I P----D Off, still am.) Now I will be ready to go back, and get another fill. This Technique does work well, and you might want to mention it to him/her since you are swollen.. Works great at getting filled too. Helps take the guess work out of it. Shirley. -

Why Are We Not Allowed To Drink Sodas After Lap Band Surgery?
54Shirley replied to mztmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Surgeon said NO POP Period. One summer I forgot about that rule, and I ordered a Mug of Root Beer. It was Fantastic to taste. Then started the pains from the Gas. Lasted almost a hour, and I was sore afterwards. I told my Husband, that if I forget, and order a pop, to please remind me about what happened. Well I never did forget that ! and that was no exaggeration that was rolling threw me.. -
What To Do When Your Insurance Has A Waiting Period For Lap Band Surgery?
54Shirley replied to karibensea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been in your shoes, and had to wait with a empty band.. As a result I gained almost all my weight back. If you have a problem, call your Dr., and explain that you don't have the money, and the problem with the Ins.. Then see if there Ins. people can help, or strike up a payment plan. Also, for Christmas, you might want to explain the situation, and maybe some family members can pitch in, and help out. If you need Fills, you can contact Fill Center U.S.A., and just pay cash, or throw it on a card. I know this is not what you want to hear, but don't let it slide, it's not worth it. Wishing you Luck, Shirley. I just caught the last paragraph. You can go to a E.R. that handles Bariatrics for help. But, check if your Ins. will cover the E.R. visit for being sick where it is interfering with the Band. -
If I eat Cottage Cheese, or Cheese Sticks. I end up plugged up..... So When I have any of the above, I make sure I take a stool softener. I also spoke to my surgeon, and they have a powder that dissolves in water, that works. So ask your Dr. for a prescription that will work for you.

That is Fantastic ! Keep up the Great Work !

Eating With Others Who Don't Have The Lap Band
54Shirley replied to helen098's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different ! So are there eating habits. If you excepted that before, then there is no sense in Judging them for the way they eat now. I have been criticized for not eating enough. I always tell those kind of people "you mind your plate, and I'll mind mine." It works ! I don't Judge other people, because some can eat all day, and never gain a ounce. I can look at a piece of Chocolate Cake, and gain 5 Lbs.... That's the way it goes.... -
Hypo-Thyroid Bandsters
54Shirley replied to MelBanded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well Roziecakes,,,,, My Specialist sent me a copy of a letter that went out to see that if in 2012, my Ins. would cover my Armour Thyroid. Well they will ! In the letter it states that I have HYPOTHYROIDISM only 2nd. to Hoshimoto Disease. So I just found this out about 10 minutes ago That's a Bummer.... After reading your's and mine posting where we both had Identical problems going on, I kind of expected that, but he never said nothing about it. So I blew it off ! Well I read the letter, and was bummed :-( . Even though I had suspected it. He never said anything about it. So it caught me off Guard. Pearl Harbored me! And today of all days. So clue me in Doll about this Disease, will ya. Shirley. -

Could I Have Hypothyroidism?
54Shirley replied to Jenn1214's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a hypo thyroid. Before I insisted on seeing a Endocrinologist, I was diagnosed with Hypo., then Hyper. ? My opinion at that time was "O sh1t ! ! ! That ain't good !' Response = No it Ain't ! So I seen my Mother-in-Law undergo Parathyroid Cancer surgery "Complete Removal" Even though this is not the same thing,I remember when her surgeon said if the TSH Levels goes up, and down all the time... It's time for Removal. So I said I want to see a specialist. She agreed. I have been on Armour Thyroid, and my Levels are in Normal Range. This is coming from someone that fell asleep behind the Wheel ! Scared me to Death ! Awake/ then out cold/ then waking up almost running off the road. I opened all Windows, Turned up the Radio, and Sang to that Radio. ... I never drove again, until my levels were in a Normal Range. See a specialist, and get a different opinion. -
I Need Help Now!!! Pain After Lap Band Surgery
54Shirley replied to ktandnoahsmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on Pain Killers for 3 weeks. The pain was pretty bad, but I could not bend over to tie my shoes no way ! As long as there is nothing wrong, this should get better for you... If it keeps it up, (AND I HOPE IT DON'T !) then keep making them run tests, and see if they can find what it is. But if your Band, Tubing, and Port look Good ! That's a Plus ! I hope you soon start to feel better. Keep us updated. Shirley. -

Two Days Till Lap Band Surgery - To Final Supper Or Not??
54Shirley replied to cantbetoothinortoorich's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well nervous over what ? Everything ! That's Normal... As far as food, you will be back in touch with it before you know it. Just not as much as you use to have. That's all.. Some foods you might find you will have a hard time getting down. Those you might choose to do without. Now the Surgery Is down to a science. I have had Dental Surgery that was more painful. You will be in, then out before you know it. Shirley. -
Two Days Till Lap Band Surgery - To Final Supper Or Not??
54Shirley replied to cantbetoothinortoorich's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said NO ! But I was on this site back then, and everyone told me you might as well!!!!! It will be a while until you can eat all different kinds of stuff anyway. Sure enough, they were rite. It's not going to hurt, and you get a chance to say good-bye to all the bad habits that you have learned threw-out time. You can have what you want, and have just enough to enjoy for your Last Supper. That's what I did. I had Steak, Baked Potato, Desert, and something to Drink. I never came anywhere near to eating it all, but I sure enjoyed it, knowing I was saying So Long to my bad habits, and I would soon be Banded. So you see,, it really can work out for you. Good Luck ! Shirley. -
I Need Help Now!!! Pain After Lap Band Surgery
54Shirley replied to ktandnoahsmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If this doesn't get better. either go back again, and tell them to look at it under Fluoroscope (X-RAY FOR YOUR ORGANS.) She and you will see the full band, tubing, and port. If anything is wrong,,, it will show up. If your not Happy with that idea, then go to a Hospital that has Bariatrics involved in the E.R., and they should be able to see what's wrong. Good Health to you, Shirley. -

Not Drinking All Of My Shakes
54Shirley replied to mint2bskiny2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep ! It's your choice what you want it for, but you can take it to work for a Lunch, or have a protein shake.... But they have some very good stuff. I buy their Chocolate Milk in place of Chocolate.( I THINK IT'S BETTER THEN THERE CHOCOLATE !) It tastes just like Chocolate Milk, and you can put it in a blender and chop fresh fruit in it or whatever you like. But it's good stuff. -
