After A Lap Band Fill What Do You Eat???
54Shirley replied to fofo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
DEPENDS ON THE FILL ! iF IT'S A TIGHT ONE, THEN IT'S 3 DAYS FLUID, 2 DAYS MUSHIES, THEN TRY FOOD. Regular 1 day fluid, 1 day mushies, then try food. We are put on Flintstones COMPLETE/ Choline chewable s. 1 chewable 3 X a day. The CHOLINE is a part of Vitamin B, and we all need that. As long as I have been Banded, I have never had a problem, and they keep me peppy. I have tried Sam's Club, and Costco's with CHOLINE, but it just doesn't have the kick. Go to the Flintstones website, and print out a coupon, and then pick them up on sale. I do that, and I buy the big bottles on ebay.. Good Luck, and MERRY CHRISTMAS ! Shirley. -
Anyone Else Having A December Like Me?
54Shirley replied to JinTx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's hitting the Nail rite on the Head. Give it away to someone else, and chalk it up as experience. We learn more and more everyday. I made fudge, had 1 small piece, put it all in Tins, and everyone is so Happy to have Homemade Goodies ! Well, more power to them, if they can have it, but I know I can't.. So it won't be in my house. My Husband said I only want 4 pieces (THAT'S ALL !) So he ate 3, and the 1 went in the Garbage. Your Banded, so a fresh start is easy ! Just start fresh again, and enjoy the Holiday. MERRY CHRISTMAS ! -
Having Problems Eating After Removing Lap Band Fill...
54Shirley replied to fofo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One thing you can do is see if your Dr., or Hospital has a X-RAY Machine for your Organs. This is called a Fluoroscope. It can view the Band, and make sure it's in good shape. So there is no guessing, they see it all. Ask for something for Heartburn Or buy something over the counter if this is possible. It will help with the Heartburn, while the swelling goes down. Good Health to you, Shirley. -
Egd After Lap Band Surgery
54Shirley replied to ChristyH84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had mine checked under Fluoroscope, and filled to the fill line. That was 4 years after surgery, and it was fine. No reason for anything else...... -
October Bandsters!!!
54Shirley replied to "AmyRose"'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear ya ! It's so easy to slip back into the bad habits that were use to. At least your back on the wagon, the band really makes that possible. Don't you think ? I work out at a Physical Rehab Center. They rent out there Gym, so I jumped at it. I pay $25.00 a month. I'm sure location will change that price though. Point is, you can call around, and find something, (if you want) and not get contracted in. It's a thought for the NEW YEAR ! MERRY CHRISTMAS ! Shirley. -
Does The Lap Band Eventually Get Filled Up ?
54Shirley replied to fatboy-es's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a 4cc band, and 2.5cc's is my fill line. If I go over that, I'm in the Red. So I have a ways to go before I have to worry about the band not being the rite size for my stomach anymore. Now this can happen, but you would have to lose a lot of weight to get fill after fill, and reach your limit, just to have it not work. It is very rare. Most Dr.'s know what size band you need, by looking at the stomach, as a result this normally does not happen. So I wouldn't worry to much about that. You would have to get pretty thin. My band has 1.6 in it now, so I will go in and try for a fill that might get me up to 1.9... So 4cc's for me is a ways away. -
What To Eat In The First 2 Weeks after Lap Band Surgery!
54Shirley replied to Abbiewtvr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try to avoid THE STARVATION NATION ! It's not worth it ! Carnation Instant Breakfast/Milk will help also. You have to find something to drink while you go threw BANDSTER HELL ! You will eat again ! Just not as much as you use too. We are put on vitamins where my surgeon works Flintstones Chewable COMPLETE ! with CHOLINE. Now those work, and they will help give you some pep. The Muscle Milk Light is a Great Pick me up ! You need to contact your Dr., and throw some of this there way, and see what they say. Also let them know of your calorie intake. I'm sure you don't want to end up in a Hospital. Especially with little kids at home. You must do something. I have given you the info. that I still follow. I suggest you contact your Dr. or make up your mind. Look up liquid protein, and see what you get. I hear Atkins is pretty good also. But I know the Muscle Milk Light tastes good. -
Drinking And Eating
54Shirley replied to JazzKat53's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always drank some water with all my meals. If I didn't, I would only be able to take in 2 Tablespoons of food. My surgeon said my system is sensitive, so weigh out your food so you don't go over. Eat a bite or 2, then wash it down. By the time I get done,,, I'm full ! Also it lasts threw the day. So yep I eat, and drink with my meals. -
What Is Your New Year's Resolution?
54Shirley replied to helen098's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Hungry And Not Feeling Any Restriction Want Food Depressed Newly Lap Banded
54Shirley replied to Looseitbeth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Relax, and Breath ! This is a one day at a time thing. Every Day is different. Your in Bandster Hell, and your Hungry. That sounds normal to me. Are you drinking your Protein shakes ? This will help cut the Hunger. It's up to you to try to learn control, and it's hard !, but you make your mind up, and do it. You will see your surgeon and get a fill, then eventually need another one or two before you start to really feel restriction. This will be a fill after fill time, until you feel restriction. That's how it works. Once you feel restriction, you will see the big difference that this band makes. So it's empty now, but in a while you will see the difference. So watch your eating, workout, Protein Shakes. I promise,,,, In the long run you will not be disappointed.. Shirley. -
Is Food Stuck In My Lap Band?
54Shirley replied to Bme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto ! Your job is to heal ! So don't start putting things to chew in your mouth, when it should be liquids. Once you heal. Sure scrambled eggs Mashed Potatoes, Hearty Soups, even Chili... but give it a chance first. MERRY CHRISTMAS ! -

54Shirley replied to Abbiewtvr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Check out Muscle Milk Light. It's all about flavor with them.. 195 calories, 25Gof Protein. I buy the powder, you can put this stuff in a Blender and add stuff to it. (for now I would just drinking it straight. It's good stuff. I drink it all the time. Flavors that are good: chocolate Milk vanilla Creme strawberry Milkshake Cookies N Creme Chocolate Peanut Butter They have a shake called Cake Batter ! Sounds good, but have not tried it. I will on my next order though. Go to AllStarHealth.com They are the cheapest that I have found, also compare to ebay prices. No matter what you buy shipping is only $5.99 at your order. Hey From Vermont :) I'm New
54Shirley replied to Krystyneh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm in Northern, Michigan, and they are making there own snow here for the skiers, and it's working. We have no snow at all, it's a little to warm for that here. As far as expanding your family ! I would tell you it is very possible. Allot of Women have that problem, and they usually end up pregnant once they have lost weight. Don't worry to much about that, sense you already had one, I'm sure you'll have more. Shirley -

54Shirley replied to Krystyneh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story

But not being able to get pregnant is a problem from being Heavy. Make sure you let your surgeon know. See you around, shirley. -
Cannot Update My Personal Data....help Please?
54Shirley replied to Julie G.'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Install Firefox, It will work on everything. I was given this advice. Tried it, and it worked ! So I'm passing it on. -
I would talk to a Malpractice Lawyer ! There catch is,,, that if it's not down on Report where he admits he made a mistake. you really can't do much about it. That's the way it was explained to me by a Attorney, and not to many Document their mistakes. On the other hand, you have the Surgeon talking to your wife, and signing for a paper, that say's you need blood. (WHEN I HAD SURGERY THEY ALREADY HAD MY BLOOD TYPE THERE WAITING FOR ME IF NEEDED.) your situation is a bit different, so they could look into it. Also Keep the Date, (I KNOW YOU KNOW IT !), and the time you were scheduled or the time you went in. This way his whole Team can end up in Court. Someone will have to tell the truth. Good Luck on your Journey with a attorney, and a big Conrats for all the weight lost. Let it be for good.

Less Than 48 Hours Until Lap Band Surgery And Feeling Nervous
54Shirley replied to oliversmomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear all of you ! I been through the Nerve Hell ! I almost left, and said screw it ! Once they got the IV in, I calmed down. When they got me out into the Hallway, and a Nurse asked me "ARE YOU READY FOR A NEW LIFE !" I never even thought of the answer, my mouth just popped off YES ! ! ! ! After that I was totally fine. Try not to worry ! Your doing it for nothing really ! they take excellent care of you, and they have all of this down to a science.. I have had DENTAL SURGERY that hurt far more then getting the Band. Everyone is different, so, make sure your pain meds are liquid (IT HELPS), lots of pillows, and a heating Pad. Gas Strips or Mylanta Liquid for Gas.It does help, but walking makes it move threw the body so that it can come out, and it will. So try to enjoy yourself, get your stuff together, all plans made, anything you need to do. Finally sit down and write a letter with all your feelings on it, and all your thoughts and frustrations. Seal the envelope that you put it in, and address it to you. Then in a couple of weeks when your feeling better, open it, and read it. Then comment on it, and add your 2 cents to the letter. Then keep it, and check it out on your 1 year Bandiversary. -
Every WLS surgery has it's problems. The problem with bypass is Mal-absorption, and weight gain after a year or 2, That's not the ones that worry me though... Everyone that I know that had this type of surgery has passed away. I don't mean do to Old Age or Disease either. I wish you good health, and please take care of yourself.

I Have A Surgery Date, I Have A Lap Band Surgery Date!!!!
54Shirley replied to HauteMama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, DITTO ! That is excellent advise, and everyone that is Banded could learn from that Common Sense ! The Band will do wonders, if you work with it. Then "YES !" It will do the job. Now if you get kind of piggish, and force yourself to eat "JUST A EXAMPLE" You will gain weight. The good thing about the band, is if you do lose it for a day or 2. Reality sets in, and you get yourself back on track. Try doing that without the BAND ! ! ! Good Luck, Merry Christmas ! to all you December Bandsters. Just imagine where you will be 1 year from now ! Happy New Year too. -
You have to find what works good for you, chew allot, and enjoy. Just be careful on the Dressings... Sometime you can put down allot of calories in the Dressing, So watch for hidden calories.

How Do I Know If Im Eating The Right Amount Or Too Much?
54Shirley replied to sheriah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's easy to do.. First of all you should know how many calories, and how much protein to have a day. Try to stick to your Dr.'s suggestions... Go to myfitnesspal.com and use it to record all of your foods, portion size, calories, protein, and exercise too. It does it all for you, and keeps it in memory. This way you can figure out what you want in advance, measure it, get the calorie count, and see if it will all add up for you. If not,,, you can make adjustments so you don't go over, and you can view other peoples Diary, and see what they are eating too. Best of all It's FREE ! I am Losingintime on that site. Send me a friend request, and I will friend you in. -
October Bandsters!!!
54Shirley replied to "AmyRose"'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is FANTASTIC ! i SURE KNOW HOW YOU FEEL... Sometimes we can do without the scale, because the inches mean more in your size. Muscle weighs more then Fat, but Muscle Tones you up. It doesn't take to much,,, just do a little more then you usually do ! That's a start.. Congrats ! You are going to Love the way things will start to change for you. So enjoy ! -

54Shirley replied to KhadijahRose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a food addict. and I know it more now, then I ever did before. I had to go in for a unfill 1/2 was taken out. I need to get a fill because I am starving "IN MY HEAD !" 24 hrs. a day... That's a real struggle. I'm going to call tomorrow, and see if I can get in before or after Christmas. ASAP. When it's a addiction, and it's in front of you for ever.
