yvonneb3: Be careful!!! You shold eat what your Dr. tells you. I have the feeling, "I hope i'm wrong" that you don't know, or maybe don't think that you are still going to be counting calories? If not ask your surgeon, once you get a fill what your total calorie consumption for the day should be? He'll tell you. I keep a journal and try to stay between 700-900 a day. If I go over 900,,, O well, there is always tommorow to get it together again, But I do try to stay in my boundry. Good Luck! Shirley..

Well,, while in the Hospital, Therapy comes to you, and they work you. When I was going home. I told the Case Manager I wanted a PT to come to my house. "NO PROBLEM!! BETTER HANDS ON CARE" Then the Dr. sent me to a facilitey for out patient. Now for the other knee. He skipped the out patient care. He said "you know what to do. " The best thing is just take your time, and walk. I don't know what state you live in? My guess is you would have to travel here to Mich., if interested. I have a great Dr., with a great track record. I would highley recomend him. Especially after hearing all the nightmares that i've heard. He's 5***** plus! Shirley..

Phil: I had both knees totally replaced last year. One in February, then thanks to therapy, one in May. I'll tell you what! Just like the Band, I'd do it again.. There are some days it might get sore, but you move it around, and the pain is gone. I am so gratefull that they cut all that Arthritic bone away, and replaced it with Titanium, and plastic. Today I was out doing my Gardening, Taking care of the Grass, Walking around at a large Fle Market. I could have never done this before. They were to bad of. Even the shots in the right knee. The steroids would leek right out because of the holes in the bone. So trust me when I say I couldn't be happier. My only problem is now there talkig about replacing a shoulder. Is there a phone #, email, or address to talk or wright to someone? I'm sure they know how you feel, especially if you were close. Her sister, i'm sure would understand how you feel. I mean she is the one who received her kidney. "The gift of Life." So in a sence she lives on. Wich I think is great. I'm sure you know your friend is free now of that terrible desease, and she is better off. NO pain, No suffering. You've the right to greeve, and you will. That's your Port your feeling. I was sore for about 3 weeks. It depends on you, and what your surgeon done. I had Lymph Nodes cut out from the groin, "did that hurt!" hernia repair, then the band. So what was to be a simple 30 minute surgery turned into 4hrs. on the table. So it's different for every one. Put on some comfy PJs, fluff up some pillows, and relax a while. You just underwent surgery, give yourself some time to heal. You'll know when your feeling up to snuff. Shirley

Think of it this way... It's better then gaining 25lbs. WRIGHT??? So,, it's a slow go.. It will still come off. You got to have patience with this. Or join the starvation nation... You don't even want to no how many people have gone there. Give yourself time. If you stop loseing weight, You'll start loseing inches!!! Any loss is a plus. So be glad at least it is coming off. Yvonneb3; welcome aboard. I too am over 50, and stumbled upon this site by accident. Glad I found it... Have you got your protien drinks figured out for yourself yet? If not really sure,, then go to ebay and type in Muscle Milk Light. Lots of flavors to choose from, this stuff is good for you, and it tastes good. Just food for thought, since you mentioned the milk. Don't go to a health food store though, you'll pay threw the nose. I was on there site today and I found jugs for as low as $16.50. That's dirt cheap for this stuff. If interested look around, or get back to me, and I will gladley help you. Shirley..

I don't know if this helps or not. But even though my skills are on the back burner now, I am a Chocolate Lady. I do Chocolats, sugar free chocolates, painting with chocolates, Fudge "about 5 flavors." and Refrigerator Pies... Peanutbutter Pie, Creamy Chocolate pie, and a to die for Cherry Cheese Pie. Go on ebay, and check out MUSCLE MILK LIGHT Protien Drink. It comes in a lot of flavors, and if I would have known the Surgeon was going to tell me,I have to drink 8oz. daily, I would have ordered ahead of time. Lots of flavors. With this you can scrap the ensure. Thats old news. This stuff is good for you, and taste good. I never even lost my hair. They told me at the Hospital if I drank it, I would never loose my hair! It was true.... Make a couple of pots of your favorite soups, puree' them, and freeze small containeers of them. Remember... PUREE' all those vegetables, and return it to the broth. There good for you, not fattening at all, and it re-inforces the flavor. Don't worry!!! It will all go down. Shirley.

I belong to a few other sites in BandLand. As far as the site for over 50? Never new it was here. I've been in Band Land quite a while. Just never seen this site pop up. That's what happend on my lap top yesterday. So good things do happen by chance! If I wouldn't have been giveing it a good going over to see how she works.. Look for a guy who sells them as many as you want shipping only $4.99. He also will have some gold stars by the best tasting product. This is who I recently bought from. "I can't think of his name, but he's there!" About $18.99 a jug. Only 2 scoops 2 a 8 or 10 oz. shaker bottle of water, and your done. 195 cal.25g. protien. Thats good stuff. H.F.H. recomends that to all of us. You check it out, then check out what a GNC will charge you. Thats the only stuff I drink, I must have 5 flavors to choose from. good luck shopping. So,,, we will see. I'll tell you what though, I heated up somebody's A**. I hope he heres about it. I hope they call me in!!! I got alot to say. So just a news flash on this S.O.B.. How is every one doing? I'm coming to you from my new lap top. I bought one for school this fall and have to get use to it . It's the new Windows Vista, intel Centrino, and more. There is a support group out in S.C.S. over at 11 mile & Little Mack. It's in the church there on the corner. Meetings are the first Wednesday of the month. Good question. Yes there is. If the tech. is having a problem of some kind. " The whole thing is run by Techs. supposibley." She has to go and bring in the surgeon to take over. Now,,, if they feel you have a leak, or something wrong. Then they could recomend you back to your surgeon with the info. of what is wrong. Like getting filled, and a week later your starving! So you go back, and they will tell you if this runs out, there must be a leak, and I have to send you back to your Dr.. That's smart buisness. You also need to know the name and size of your band, and they will tell you if it is F.D.A. approved. By the way! They call you like the next day, just to see how you are. If you tell them you could have used a little more fill. It's only $86.00. I mean you can't, and won't beat that for a outside source. If your to tight. It's free to take some out.
