I stumbled on this, and have some advice that might help. "CHECK THIS WITH YOUR DOCTOR FIRST" At Henry Ford Hospital in Michigan, we were taught that this is all new plumbing. "LAP BAND" and there are times when your plumbing gets clogged up ! So we have a solution... Mix Adolphe's meat tenderiser, and some water together, Swallow a shot glass full no more then that ! let it sit and eat its way through the clog.. Now,,I am not kidding on this, have not had to do it myself, "I HAVE A HOLE IN MY PORT, SEEING A DOCTOR ON THE 13th" But I still remember there version of liquid plumber.. Again,,, check this with your Doctor. Also with the swelling that you feel try ice cold liquids. If you like to chew or suck on crushed ice, that's a big help. Good Luck ! Shirley.

I was a October Bandster October 31st. I lost quite a bit of weight by myself before I got the band. "I have a 4cc Band that blew with a 0.5 cc fill bringing me up to 2 cc's." Lost my insurance because we lost our jobs here in Michigan. I had one visit left to see my surgeon, and he was so disappointed that he had his student escort me out with the attitude of "come back when you can show us that you can loose weight, and you will get your fill..." Boy was I pissed off ! Especially after telling them that this was the only ins. that I had. To bad was the response... So now I have ins. and I am going to see a different surgeon up here in Northern, Michigan. I will see if they can help. If not ! Then it's back to Henry Fords, and this so called professional. I hope it's up here with Hurly Medical Center. I have regained all my weight. "basically water" but,, I have to start all over again. Just thought I would touch basis with someone. Shirley.

I definitely agree with you! That is why I go to a Fil Center. From what I understand, a lot of these doctors are going to do surgery only, and then it will be up to you to maintain your fill. The doctor might start you off at first, just so you can learn how much your band can hold. Then it will be up to you to maintain it. That's why they call them surgeons, so they can make their money in the surgical room only. I hope it doesn't come to that, but you never know will see in the future. In the meantime, give them a call if you want, they can tell you what they're all about, and then you can decide what you'd like to do. At least it's a choice! Take care, get back if you need to. Is your band FDA approved? If it is, then you shouldn't have any problem. That's the way I understand it, that's the way it was explained to me. A lot of them in Mexico are not FDA approved. I guess those, they will not touch. Mine was FDA approved, and no problem. Shirley. -

I can't tell you how to get your money back? Except for talking to billing, and or management, and I'm sure you've done all of that. What I can tell you, is go to a fill center usa. They can manage all of your fills. Since you have a flexible spending account, you can pay on your charge, and pay for your fills with the money. Look them up on the Internet, and see if they're in your state, city, or town. I know I go to one, and they're very good there. They treat you like you're a human being. Not like cattle." Out ith the old and in with the new." So take a look on the Internet. Shirley.... -

If it feels like someone's got thear hand around your throat, and is just at a steady squeese. That's how I new I was to tight. Not to mention couldn't swallow saliva. Our surgeon from the hospital puts all his patients on [PEPCID COMPLETE] one twice a day, and it works. We took a poll at our support group to see who is still suffering from Acid Reflux. Not a one of us. So thear has to be something to this. It's got to be complete though, or it won't work. You also have to give your body a chance to get use to it. I had no problem. It worked for me from day one. This is for the rest of your life, same as the chewable vitamins. Hope you feel better. Good Luck to you. Remember,, what ever you do check with your Dr. first. Thats the safest way. Shirley... -

sherilyn: My guess is that the headaches are from Anastesia [spelling] Contact your surgeon and see what he says to do for it. My veins are gone too... They thought they were going to have to put in a central line for me. Instead,,,, they brought in a specialist who IVs babys. Not a problem at all. [THERE IS ALWAYS ONE FLOATING AROUND IN A HOSPITAL!] Keep that in mind if you want. -

His name is Dr. Dennis Kelly. He is at St. John's Oakland, in Madison Heights, Michigan. He is a wonderful doctor, he has at least 25 years of experience as a orthopedic surgeon. I have no complaints, or regrets about goling to him for my knee replacements. My first knee replacement was done in February of last year, my second knee replacement was done in May of last year. They had me up and walking by the second day. And that was with both knees. With the second knee though, I knew what to expect so I got myself up and was walking the halls befour I knew it. You can contact his office, and I'm sure they'd be glad to help you. His staff is very professional, and they will help however they can. He has great bedside manner, the nurses that work for him make sure that you get the utmost care. They all have a lot of respect for him, and they love to work for him, and I can understand why he is an excellent doctor. Good luck! Shirley. -

We are all trying to get healthier, and maybe live a little longer with the help of the band wright? So think about it and maybe just switch to glass. "if it matters to you" I don't use plastic, I use to work in a plastic factory and it might be good for some things, but I wouldn't drink out of it. I liked the point about the lead paint. Very True!!! The only ones that are complaining about that in Detroit. Were the ones that let their children teeth on the painted woodwork. Those people sued. Don't no what they got, but i'm sure something. End of subject. Shirley... -

IndioGirl55; I went to the web site and read the info. I do have a couple of concerns though. 1 In Michigan, they are talking about taking plastic baby bottles off the market. Because they have been linked to cancer. 2 The plastic companys are not about to admit to this even if it is true. "It's like the tobacco company saying ciggarettes don't cause cancer." They have to stick to there guns. It's buisness. If you think back when everything was made of glass. I really don't remember this much cancer back then. I think it's worth the thought. Shirley.. -
Hope your feeling better!! Nice to see your back. Shirley...

yvonneb3 :You can keep trac of your calories even in the musshie stage. Get a book on calorie counting were they list all the foods. "good to have" Go on line to calorie counter and feed in the foods, and it will tell you the calories. Also info is usually on package. Example. Insant Mashed Potatoes 1/4 cup 120 cal. 2g. protien Chicken Gravy 1/4 cup 25 cal 0g. protien Sugar free instant pudding 1 serv. 45 cal. 2g. protien It's easy to add them all up, but you can also see why you need a good protien shake to make up the difference. Good Luck.. Shirley.. -

Bottled water in your car..... very dangerous for women!!!!!! This is how Sheryl Crow got breast cancer. She was on the Ellen show and said the same exact thing. This has been "IDENTIFIED" as the most common cause of the high levels of breast cancer, especially in Australia. A friend whose mother wea recently diagnosed with breast cancer. The Doctor told her: women should not drink bottled water that has been left in a car. The doctor said that the heat and the plastic of the bottle have certain chemicals that can lead to breast cancer. So please be careful, and do not drink bottled water that has been left in a car, and pass this on to all the women in your life. This information is the kind we need to know and be aware and just might save us!!!! The heat causes toxins from the plastic to leak into the water and they have found these toxins in the breast tissue. So use a stainless steel Canteen or a glass bottle when you can!! Newest information... Shirley -

There is a cardinal rule for weight loss. "calorie counting" For a woman its 1200 to loose, 1500 to maintain, and 1800 to gain. He should check with his Dr., or go on line and do some research in calorie counting for men. This will help, I can't say how much,,, I'm not a DR.. I try to stay between 700-900 myself. It still takes time. Good Luck.
