Mine took 3.5 hours. There was 1 oral test for memory, and several written tests, and 1 computer test. After all the tests were completed, a report was generated. I then saw the psych. He was very knowledgable about the weight loss process. Went over amount of food I could eat and some of the things I would need to do. I only spent about half an hour with the doctor.

New here and looking for a surgeon
texasweb replied to luvmyscottydogs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am using Dr DeWitt in Birmingham. He is located off of I20 in Birmingham just 1 exit east of I65. His website is at Bariatric Surgery in Birmingham, Alabama ? Andrew Dewitt, M.D.. I have been very please with him. He does the RNY and the Realize Lap Band. BCBS of AL requires 6 months of supervised weight loss with the 1st visit not counting, so it really is 7 months to fill that requirement. I hope you the best. There are several good doctors in Birmingham. -
I go for my psych eval tomorrow. In the literature from the Dr, it states that it will take 3 to 5 hours.

I can't live without mine either. That is partly why I chose Lapband over RNY.

Ron Lester who played Billy Bob in Varsity Blues lost his girlfriend after losing his weight. He had lost 348 pounds. His story is very interesting. He had a RNY done though. Welcome to the Ron Lester Offical Website

Real Life Sex Educator Here---Feel Free to Ask Questions!

my thought was that as you lose weight, that the fat around the base of the penis would flatten out and make the penis longer for penetration. That was my question. -
I agree with Spendi, you need to be on clear liquids for at least a couple of days to 2 weeks. That soup was a giant step for the band. The doctor did not give you any post op instructions?

Does the penis get longer as you lose the weight? -
Does it seem unusual to already have 7.6cc's in a 10cc band after 2 fills?
texasweb replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It seems that the doctors who put in the ALLERGAN/INAME band fill at a slower pace than those of the REALIZE. I bet LoadsofLaughs has the Allergan band while Losing_it_in_Texas has the Realize. -

You can call Anthem and they will send you the coverage information about weight loss surgery. I called on Monday and had it in hand on Saturday. I am going to my seminar Saturday which is required by the doctor that I am using before he will make the appointment. It looks pretty straight forward. They did say that they would require a psych eval and that they would pay for that. There was no requirement about being on a weight loss program for any time period.

Life is not exactly what I was expecting...

I am sorry that you are not getting the attention that you need. I have not done the surgery yet, and married, so I am just going to give some suggestions. Maybe your old friends still see as the old self as a jolly person who is just a friend. You can try to get some new friends who see you as you are today is one suggestion. The other is ask them out. There is no harm in that and maybe it will change the way the Old social circle sees you. You have done a great thing. You had the surgery, lost the weight, look good, feel good, so go for it. They can only say no, but they might say yes and open up new paths to old friends. Just don't get discouraged and get into old habits. I hope you the best. -
I will be praying for you on that Day ..
