Sure doesn't sound like much food. How many calories are you actually consuming? You know you can add protien shakes with little or no carbs in between meals to help not only curb your hunger but helps add to your protien intake.

I have tried them as well with good outcome. When I say tried them I do mean two or three. Something told me not to push it! Glad I didn't.

MelAnne, I remember liquid food stage to soft food stage and by then I knew my swelling had gone down. About my fourth week post surgery I realized that I could consume more than the amounts on the menu given to me. I did sometimes have a little more here and there because I had no problem whatsoever. Just remember that the menus given to you along with your food options are given to help you also visualize what should be enough to satisfy your hunger. It took some practice to visualize the 1/3 cup this and 1/2 cup that without actually measuring the food but I got it. In my experience feeling satisfied and feeling full were not the same. I hope this helps some along the way.

Choose wisely. Of all the things that my dietician and I discussed this past Monday afternoon, I brought those two words with me.

Thanks for sharing. That is so motivating to hear. Welcome.

Yoda, glad to hear things are looking up for you. I wanted to add that shortly after I was settled in my hospital room and started on liquids, my doc and his staff advised me to stick with chamomile tea which I found to be one of the best things for me. I drank it religiously. I seldom used the maalox or the pain meds given me after I left the hospital. As a matter of fact, I was out hiking with some family not long after leaving the hospital. Yes I did have some slight soreness from the incisions and I did of course feel the changes in to my stomach area during anytime of consumtion but I took it all well. I just had my first fill and guess what my choice of drink was? I feel great! Thought I would share since reading your initial post reminded me of it all.

Everyday that I look in the mirror, I like to find something positive to say about myself. I happen to think I am cute and pretty. Each day I look at this cute person who seems to change almost daily and I think of just how beautiful I will become. I know I will enjoy each and everyday of my transformation.

I think it's a great way to treat yourself during the soft stage. It was on my list as well and I add it to my menu once a week. It is a good carb/energy source.

I finally was able to lay on my back comfortably recently. Before then I too slept on one side or other with the use of a comfy pillow. Switching from one side to the other I feel becomes easier each day. I do well these days and have even tried sleeping on my stomach with some success. How is that "Cameron"?

Going To Monterrey, Mexico For 5/16/06 Surgery
iteLnTx replied to Gettinghealthy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome and Good Day! While in Monterrey, I stayed at the Hampton which is where Dr.Rumbaut's office made arrangements for my stay post surgery. The day prior to my departure from hotel, I picked up a "gift pack" of goodies at the front desk. You will have to ask for it since the hotel staff does not mention it to you. Included are Water, gatorade, tea bags, buillion cubes, etc. All are part of your post op liquid diet. I simply asked for hot water on the plane or at the airport. You could email the person who made your arrangments and ask if this is still being provided at the hotel. Oh, while at the Hampton, they certainly have a variety of things for you to enjoy while on your preop and postop diet!!! Hope this helps. Keep us posted and Congrats! -

With the discription you gave, it sounds like it should be an episode that the Weather Channel has called "It could happen tomorrow". LOL It sounds impressive. LOL -

Cindy, I had read some information about the lapband several months ago but had put it all aside because I felt I was just too busy for it all. One day in early Febuary I woke up thinking of the website and how I was just tired of feeling tired. Before I started my day that morning I realized my health and family are just too important for me to continue like this. I feel great about my decision. My family has been extremely supportive and although I am new to LBT, I have found answers to all my questions here. Life is good all around. I know you will know when you are ready. I believe we all have that "enough is enough" point. Be well.
