I had my 2nd fill done this afternoon with Dr. Mathew St.Laurent from north Houston. Very professional, courteous with excellent hands for my fill. IMO. I was very nervous since this fill was being done without floursocopy but alas he soothed those uneasy feelings and before I knew it.......done! Great guy....super. Thought I would share that with all.

Exciting news! Your hard work and dedication will pay off nicely.

MelAnne, chin up. Sometimes I feel like my two boys (8-9yrs old) who ask on every trip whether out of town or down the road, "Are we there yet?" I laugh at myself. At my age asking the same question. Hang in there with us. Things will change with some patience and perserverance.

I have learned that there are foods that will just not feel well going down. No matter how well I chew and how slow I eat, red meat and bread is not for me. I given those up for good! -
Oh, don't let the band become your enemy. Need to treat your band like you want to be treated.......with kindness. Do be careful. Avoid the foods that just don't agree with you and your band.

Dawn, glad to hear you ar coming along. Yes, things get better each day but take care on your trip home.

Rae, I bet it will work out well for you.

My dietician did bring that up and only said be sure to chew well once I introduced that into diet. I have eaten salad and have tolerated it well.

Good Day Everyone! Had my fist fill on 4/24/06, in Monterrey with Dr.Rumbaut and Liceely(assistant). I have to say I was nervous having seen the size of the needle being used on video clip shown here in this section. Having said that I'll get to it. Liceely used a local anesthetic inj. after cleaning the area thoroughly. I felt only a tiny prick but nothing to fret over. At this point I focused on the screen where I could easily see my port, stomach, band. For me, this was much easier than looking at what was coming. She asked several question which made this easier as well. Accessing the port was done with no problems. I felt her apply pressure as she connected with my port but never any pain. She explained everything she was doing as she was doing it while I viewed it all on the screen. She showed me what it looked like to have my band in a closed position then open prior to injecting the saline. Then she proceeded to elevate my upper body to a 45 degree angle so that I could injest that wonderful drink. As I took several swallows, she introduced saline into my band for a total of 1.5cc. I could see how the flow of liquid slowed down once this amount was injected. Dr.Rumbaut came in and between the three of us we decided to add a bit more saline after I consumed about 8 ozs of Water with just some slight restriction. Again, I drank more barium while under the fluoro machine and received a total of 1.6cc saline altogether. I had another 8 ozs of water in the waiting room with satisfaction. Prior to leaving back to his office for followup with his dietician, I was asked how I was feeling. I had a potatoe Soup not long after as advised and felt good. I could feel the fullness already or the restriction. Two days later, I am able to tolerate food well but certainly in smaller amounts then prior to my fill. I can definitely say that chewing your food well and no liquids with food is important. My general feeling is that I know I could never swallow with success anything that is not completely almost liquified in my mouth. With the portions I intake now, absolutely will never drink while eating. Not enough room. Sooooo, choose your food intake wisely! IMO. Well, I think I have covered that experience and a good one at that. Glad to be able to share that with you all and I hope it can benefit someone in the future. DonnaB, thanks for your continous support.

Sound like your journey is going well and you are in good hands with hubby soon to be partner in yet another aspect. Good News all around!

Indeed, you may want to contact your doc's office to check. It appears that each doc is different and instructions on this matter vary doc to doc. I remember reading a thread like that earlier today called to drink or eat after first fill......something like that. It touched on this subject.

I feel safe taking it all day by day. I enjoy seeing the changes on a daily basis. I feel safe knowing I am on my way and I will get there when I get there. Right now, I cannot explain more than what I feel. Maybe that will change but we will see. Good questions, Susan. Thanks -
Happy for you! Do show us pic's soon. Hope to be in Onderland soon.

WalleyeK, have you been in contact with Dr.Rumbaut staff about this issue? Contact his team via email and I bet you get a response as to who you can visit with for fills in your area. -

BTW, up on the top left corner of options is "user CP" option. If you click this option then go to "Edit signture" on your control panel, you can add some info about yourself that will show for every post you make. -
trying to get the hang of the web site

Good Day Liza!!! I did not drive there as of yet. For my surgery I used AVIACSA airlines and most recently used Continental airlines due to flexibility in flight schedule. If I choose to fly again to Monterrey will most likely use Continental. -
:hail: .......Penni, you go girl, well done!!!!

I tried cereal with a bit of milk two days ago for breakfast and did not do well. I kept burping repeatedly the entire time and so I think I have written that off my list.
