Hello All, Congrats on being banded mine was on Oct 17th and I'm still sore seem to be a little swolen in the area of the port. So hunger was horrible for me for 5 days finally went to Dr. and said help!! he eat eat whatever you can just eat slow chew to baby food consistancy. But at first your band is not tight so you will be hungry I have not had a fill yet and can eat alomst anything in small amounts I still get full very fast which is nice. So he said this is supposed to be a joyable experience not misserable. And if we go hungry will not succeed in our endeavors. So eat becareful stay with soft for now and take it one day at a time be sure not to over eat!!! Good Luck

Well good luck if you want a second opinion try those folks at the weight loss centers they seem to work miracles. I wasn't sold on them until I went for a 2nd opinon and afterwards chose them. My dr. I love now he makes so much sense to me when he talks. He gives you his cell phone number so you can call with any questions at any time. Wonderful man kind and caring. Even though they are making the big bucks he still has bedside mannors.I made a mistake tonight and told my husband I was craving mexican food so we went and instead of sharing a dinner we both ordered. Not only was it 30 dollars but I ate maybe a 16th of my dinner such a waste even though he will take it for lunch tomorrow I just wasted food and money. Try to get that in your head as well and just order a side of something or share with your partner or friend. That will help build your savings back up too. Take Care

HI why are you paying for it not insurance? I'm 5'4 205lbs with high blood pressure and have blue cross went to the weigh loss centers and it was covered for me. BMI was at 37% I don't look huge because my weight goes all over not just one area. In any case when you do this beware of some of after feelings that can be normal. My band was a week ago friday I suffered horrible back and shoulder pain for several days. Found out this is normal I hated it then I called to go see the Dr. 6 days later for the pain.. Talked about it he gave me more pain meds and do not let yourself be in pain it will stress you out and take longer to heel. Also heres the biggy I was starving my poor husband was doing everything for me from cooking homemade soups to who knows what. When I told the Dr. he said EAT don't make this a misserable experience or it wont work. The band is not tighted when it first goes in so eat whatever you want BUT eat small bites and small amounts chew it until ifeels like baby food. Eat often so you don't feel the growling and hunger pains that I did. I feel so much better and healing faster. My first fill is on Nov. 5th so eating like this now puts me in condition for the fills because the amounts of food will get smaller. But the chewing habits will there for the rest of your life Congrats and good luck

Hi I'm 5'4 and 205 but have high blood pressure too. I have Blue Cross the covered no problem. Call the weight loss centers thats where I had my surgery they said if insurance companies deny it that file appeals and have so far won most of them. I didn't think I would qualify I was shocked my band surgery was on 10/17 still recovering but very happy I made the choice to do it. Good Luck -
Hi New Kid, Congrat's on your band. Mine was on Oct 17th Dr. says yes you can still eat but if you want this to successful eat SMALL amounts not 2plus cups at a sitting. Eat often chew to baby food consistancy. And don't allow yourself to feel hungry so you will eat fast and a lot. You should be getting yourself in condition for your fills. Then your life will turn around if you let it. I have read some people can still eat foottlong subs. And they are wondering why they not losing either. Please make this a fun and rewarding experience for yourself. Eat very small amounts and at least 6 times or more a day. Get the vitamins in as well.Only you can do it for yourself keep us posted good luck

Banded 10/21 and have ???
itzgigi replied to San Diego Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello All. OK her's the deal I was banded on 10/17 went to the Dr. on on 10/23 told him I"M HUNGRY he said EAT!!!! when the band first goes in they do NOT tighten it. You can still eat eat whatever you want BUT chew it like baby food consistancy and small bites might as well get used to eating that way. You will heal faster and better with food. If you feel sick stop go back to clear liquids for awhile. Ans most important stop when satisfied don;t over do it. The band is just resting on your stomach right now and your trying to adjust to it as well. Cottage chees and canned fruit works well for inbetween snacks. Eat often and small so you don't have the growling. He said this is supposed to a new and happy experience for us not to be miserable or it will never work for us. I want to be successful I go back to work tomorow and I'm not 100% but have a better attiude. My first fill is 11/5 good luck to you all.And no questions are stupid !! -
My doctor told me to eat don't make this a misserable experience or it will not work be sensible eat small bites and chew chew chew and stop when your stomach tells you too!! today is my 7th day after surgery I went to him 2 days ago for a check up and he hasn;t tightened the band so he said EAT I said I love you and left and went and ate feel much better

 Good Day All, I had my band put in on Friday other then the horrible back pain I experienced I think I'm ok. BUT I still want to eat clear liquids for the first two days the adding other liquids soups etc. BUT I'm hungry I feel like I could eat a tuna sandwich or some chicken salad? very excited for all of who are going through with this. It was a difficult choice for me to make. I have a very supportive husband. I'm about 70lbs overweight but my high blood pressure has been an ongoing problem for about 4 years now. So the choice was made on medical reasons as well as weight loss.My concern now is when and how fills work as well as food I'm a foody love to eat cook great not sure how my mental state is going to be. I heard it's like losing your best friend for the first month help!!! please advise!!

Thank you I'm trying very hard to ignor my stomach and my mind. It's very hard for me not to with the mind and the comfort food. But I do not wish to have any more pain. I hope having your fill removed is a good thing. Thanks Again

Hope your doing well I still have to take pain meds. My back still hurts as well as the stomach now. My husband has gotten really good at cooking soup last night fresh pumpkin and tonight egg drop both very satisfying although I over ate tonight eyes bigger than the stomach and it has caused some extra pain. Also I found I'm an emotional wreck crying for no reason not for long though because it hurts as well. Keep me posted on how your doing
