    Getting back on track?

I too feel like a failure. I was banded on November 8, 2008 and lost approximately 96 lbs by my first anniversary. Needless to say I am now up 20 lbs and contemplating getting a fill. My husband was banded and he also has gained 15 lbs back. Both of us are making poor food choices. My last fill was November 20, 2009. My husband doesn't want me to get a fill as he feels I have restriction because he can hear the funny noises my body makes as I am eating. I called to schedule a fill for May 28th but decided to get back on track with my band and rescheduled the fill for June 7th. Today I started by drinking my protein shake and I am definitely going to do the 5 day pouch test and see how I feel at the end of those 5 days. I also have decided that just because I have two growing children doesn't mean that I have to have a cabinet full of junk. They will eat whatever is there so there is no time like the present to start fresh. I have a friend who lost 30 lbs on her own by being married to the gym. I have a tool in my body for the rest of my life that I don't have to be married to the gym just eat right and exercise and I can finish what I started. That is too be healthy and happy for me! I have to stop feeling sorry for myself. I believe that when I am bored and upset that I have a food addiction. So consider me a member of this group "getting back on track" I want to look like I did 20 years ago this October as my husband and I celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary!!!!
  3. I was banded on November 4, 2008 by Dr. Nusbaum and to date have lost 90 lbs. My husband was banded by Dr. Nusbaum on February 19, 2009 and to date has lost 65 lbs. Both of us have recommended him to all our friends and some of them have gone to meet with him are now are awaiting a surgery date. We did have one friend who went to someone in the Hazlet area and had her surgery on a Monday and when she called on Wednesday to have a follow up appointment was told her doctor had left the practice. Both my husband and I are so glad that we chose Dr. Nusbaum because he was informative and his office was readily available to us at all times. What other doctor gives his home and cell number to a patient upon release from day stay. We have our new extended life to thank Dr. Nusbaum for. He is a fabulous person as well as a fabulous surgeon.

Why did YOU get the Lap Band?

I had lap band because I waited a lifetime to be a mother and I wanted my two children (11 and 7) to have the kind of mother that I had a healthy one. My awakening came last Fathers Day at a baseball tournament in Hershey Park where I couldn't fit comfortably on a few rides and I was embarrassed. But funny that my kids weren't. I had lost 96 pounds on my own in 2006 only to gain back seventy-five by last June. Pretty scary. I would tell everyone to give it a chance. At first I felt that people would think that I was taking the easy way out but it is a tool. I had my surgery on 11/4/08 and to date have lost 45 lbs. I feel good and am more cautious about what I put in my mouth. I recently had to throw out potato chips that had gone stale. I must have been the junk food junkie not my children. I am hoping that my husband will decide to do this also. But regardless he has been my biggest supporter. I even baked Cookies this Christmas with my kids for the first time ever. (24 dozen and I only tasted 2) Merry Christmas to everyone and good luck in the new year.

    Food Getting Stuck

Hi. I had lap band surgery on November 4, 2008 and have lost 34 lbs to date. I had my first fill on December 1, 2008 and cannot lie that i still do crave my forbidden foods. My question is can I do damage to my band in the form of slippage by eating and the food getting stuck. It doesn't always get stuck but if I am a glutten and it gets stuck I get the slimes. I have not thrown up, but have come pretty close and I am scared that I am going to start all over with surgery and all. Is it possible to do this damage. I will say for the most part I am not really hungry sometimes it is head hunger. I know I am probably overreacting so beginning tomorrow I am starting back on my protein shakes, weighing my food and putting my daily intake down in a food journal.:tongue2:

    Finally did it!!!

Good luck to all of you. I was banded yesterday (11/4/08) and at the time tipped the scales at 267lbs. I am feeling a little tired today and a little nervous. I am not hungry but so far have only gotten 16 ounces of water down today. I had a lot of pain in my left shoulder which they attributed as gas. I can't drive for a week and go in for my first pre-op visit on Monday (11/10/08). I am looking at this as a tool and would like to succeed. I have a great support system at home and some of my friends recently had gastric bypass done.
