I am so Mad and HURT!

YEAH!!! This still has me all riled up. I forgot to mention one thing in my previous post.... At five yrs of age....it is NORMAL if a lil' kid as a belly. OMIGAWD....if a kid at that age didn't have a baby fat belly, I would wonder if they were undernourished!! %$^%$^&%#%$$@#!$# this damn thin-obsessed society makes me so angry when it gets lil' kids involved. YEEESH...poor thing....let 'em enjoy life!

    Satiated vs Full

That's really kewl Tommy; tks for sharing. I eagerly anticipate the day when the light bulb goes off in my head too. Well, it goes off in my head, but not in my body; I await patiently and meanwhile do my best! Congrats on the 98 lbs!!!! WOOOOOO HOOOOOO!
  5. Mine is exactly where you just specified (Dr. Joffe/Yau at TLBC). I think it is a much better location than off to the side. (less obtrusive, more easily accessible etc). The more "current" doc do it there now as opposed to the side and lower (from my understanding). So, be happy!!!

    Physician heal thyself ....

Hi Marc....I don't know what to say; everyone has summed it up quite nicely. We can all feel your pain, sorrow and lonliness to some extent or another. We are all here for our own reasons and feel this was the best choice for us. I just want to say WELCOME and keep your spirits up. You live is about to begin again!! ((((((HUGS))))))

I am so Mad and HURT!

Yup...I can understand why you are hurt and MAD!!! They had NO right to talk to your daughter like that and tell her those things. She is only 5 for cryin' out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She should sooooooooooooo NOT be worrying about her weight. If she eats healthy and is active, she will likely not be an overweight kid/teen as she gets older. Now look what they've done to her though process. I agree with WoodyS....you have to have a heart to heart with those people...it is insane that they are talking to a 5 yr old like that.

To Tell or Not To Tell.....

Here is a thread I started a while back in which I asked the same type of question (there are a few threads like this, in fact). You'll get lots of responses here! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=17096

    Nervous husbands???

I agree with Susan 100%. Knowledge IS power. My DH went through the whole process with me...research, pre-op appts etc He knew as much, if not more about the band than I did. That helped alleviate his concerns a lot. That, and his involvement. Was he still nervous and jittery? Absolutely!!! (as was I!). But it is only because he loves me so much and didn't want anything to happen to me...so that is normal and shows that your DH cares for you. All that to say....yup, knowledge is power and makes all the difference!

    emotional

Plus....feelings of "sadness" & depression are apparently very common side effects to having anesthesia (sp?)....I went through a real blue/down period after I had surgery...lasted a couple of weeks. I felt better about it once I found out it may only be a side effect. It will get better and the feelings will likely pass! Hang in there and remember you did do the research and you did make the right choice for you or you wouldn't have done it!
  16. Oooooooh!!! Well, THAT explains it then!!! LOL

    Yell

LOL that would work on me Argon!!! I'll enlist your help when I'm approaching ONEderland and trying to leave TWOterville behind (not anytime soon though!).
  18. LOL....okay...I was just wondering based on your goal how tall you were. Where did the figure come from? Did the doc help you set it? I guess I"m just wondering why 147 and not 150 or 145.

    Intimacy issues

Don't worry Bikingoal: they won't notice the band or feel it at all. Jack.....if you're gonna insist on continuing with the sort of posts that make me guffaw, I'm not gonna be able to eat my cereal/oatmeal while reading these posts!!! hmmmmm laughing/eating may be the same as eating chicken while talking on the phone??!!! But....no worries....I won't ask!!!!
  21. Okay, so yup....I think I had a short visit to Slimeville for the first time last night. It wasn't a super bad place but not particularly a place I would like to visit frequently, ya know? Not too much to do there. My DH thinks perhaps I also make a quick trip to PBVille but I beg to differ. If I was at PBVille, it went by as I blinked and I may have missed it. I came home from work and DH had made a delicious looking apple pie that he had just taken out of the over (did I mention he is a chef?? oh vey!!). So, after it cooled down, I had two little bites ....more crust than apple (I LOOOOOOOVE pie crust and hadn't had any in about 5 months!). I may have forgotten to chew and/or taken too big of a piece. As I put the second piece in my mouth, I took a small swig of milk with it (ahhhhh, heaven!). Then it felt like something came up to me out of nowhere at 100 mph and sucker-punched me right in the solar plexus area. Owwwwwwwwwwwwww. I couldn't even speak in order to call my DH up from the basement. The piece was still in my mouth, getting bigger and bigger by the second (how that was possible, I don't know...it just kept expanding). I went thru a few seconds of indecision: "should I spit it out now before perhaps making it worse by swallowing it" or "should I swallow it because it is oh soooo yummy". Thankfully, logic won out and I spit it out. Yet, eerily, my mouth was filling up again. Hmmmmm So, recalling the stories on here, I went to the sink and merely opened my mouth as, seemingly, one of the Great Lakes seemed to virutally empty itself from my mouth into the sink right before my very eyes. During this, the sucker-punch pain was subsiding. Upon draining, I was fine....no more residual pain. From beginning to end the whole visit lasted only approx 10 mins. So...whatcha think? Merely Slimeville? or was there a PBVille there as well? Really not sure. I hope to remain a PB Virgin.

Does anyone else sweat a *lot*?

I also had this problem. One of the side effects of one particular medecine I was on was partly to blame. The other thing was (and this is just me self-diagnosing) I feel I was having mild anxiety attacks....especially when it came to being forced into certain social situations I would have preferred to avoid. My face would sweat insanely (not the rest of me) which would embarass me which would make me then worry about it which would cause more anxiety and more sweat....you can see the viscious circle! My medecine was changed and that helped somewhat. I don't get as many (or as intense) anxiety attacks anymore....so that has also helped a lot. The reason being I'm avoiding the situations that did it in a better way. I know avoidance isn't the answer...but hey....one thing at a time!!!

    SlimeVille vs PBVille

OMIGAWD!!!!! Wheetsin!!! I completely forgot about Stucksville!!!! I guess I wasn't looking at my map or using my GPS correctly....now that you mention it: I do, in fact believe I was in Stucksville, not PBVille (yahhhh I'm still a PB Virgin!!). I didn't actually "expell" it, I merely opened my mouth and let it all drain out like a tap! I did "feel" like I had to wretch and certainly wanted to...but I was able to control it and I didn't (was afraid to!). Daaaaammmmit....*Putting Stucksville on my map*....soooo many places to see..... Thanks for the insight and the tourist info!
  24. LOL....the "proper way"!!!!! Ahhhhhhh....ignorance is bliss!!!! Congrats for not slappin' her silly!
