I only told my husband, my parents (who live far far away!!) and 2 very close friends (one who also had it done). If you want to see what others' views are on this, there are a few threads on the "General" site that you can find by doing a search. Personally, I wanted (and still want) to keep it to myself for a variety of reasons, the least of which I didn't want to be under a microscope. Plus, even though if you tell people, they may be "supportive" and nice about it to your face...behind your back, that isn't necessarily the case at all (even with friends). I've experienced this with my friend who had it done (and told everyone!)....she thinks everyone is "with her" and supportive but she would be surprised about what they are saying behind her back. Of course I stand up for her...but it is disturbing!!

Hi Taymac and welcome! I agree with all that IrishMist said (about the fills etc). I went to Drs Joffe & Yau at TLBC in Toronto and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. They have free fills for life there. You are doing the right thing...coming on here and researching like crazy!!! This site helped me a lot when I was pre-band. The search button is particularly useful. I wouldn't worry too much about going to TO for fills....you're lucky you can do it in a day (I too, use up a day to go)....many people end up flying in to TO from other provinces....so we're actually quite fotunate! Good luck!

Can't wait to hear how it all went Mandi!
-
I would definitely wait until you are at (or very near) goal before getting the tat.
-
Canada??? Did I hear Canada?? *does happy snoopy dance*....*looks around*....are there any other Canucks taking part???
-
Bumping for Tagger since not a lot of Canadians have gone to Mexico for the surgery.... She is hoping to get more responses here than on the Cdn thread!

Fluro is fluroscopy...wherein you swallow barium and they use an x-ray to see your port etc...and do your fill that way. Some docs in US use it all the time for all fills...others don't. At TLBC, fluro is only used if there is a problem; and I had some problems with my last fills that requires it this time around just so they can have a looksie.
-
OKAY...I was only curious as my fill is on 25th and if you were going to TLBC I might have run into you. OOOPS....however I just realized that my fill this time is not at TLBC...it is at the hospital so that it can be done under fluro this time!! So nevermind!! LOL....Moot point. Anyways...good luck at your consult. Go armed with all your questions!!

aaaaawwwww, gee thanks I needed to hear that today about the weight loss....as I'm not feeling too good about it right now! I've been yoyoing the same 3-5 lbs now for the last month, despite apparently doing all the "right" things. I know it is a glitch and I'll get past it but it is still discouraging....so thanks for the comment!!! Anyways...yes....they have lived there for at least 30 yrs!!!! I'm not too familiar with it anymore.....it has been awhile since I've been to Langley. However, I have a friend in Aldergrove area and my Aunt lives in Chilliwack (Sardis actually) and has all her life. I've been to Chilliwack a lot in my past. Also, my folks live on the Island....my mom grew up on the Island. You'll get lots of useful info on this site....so use it to gain whatever you can. It REALLY helped me a lot in my pre-band days. The search button (on the main site) is verrrrrry useful....!!

Hiya Mert. Congrats on being banded!!! I hope it is going well for you! Tis early....so be good to yourself! I just read this thread and it really resonated for me. I'm not sure why...I'm not exactly in the same situation as you, but it did resonate, nontheless. I was curious as to whether or not you spoke to them about it or not. That would have been my advice....to sit down (just the 3 of you) and have a heartfelt talk about it. I also reallllly liked what Koko said about asking your husband to back you up (if he doesn't already) when they say negative things about you to him. All the best to you Mert.

Ratgirl: who are you having your consult with?
-
Hiya K@T....hmmm tough one! Yup, ya have to tread lightly for sure (remember how it was for you when/if people would try and talk "sense" to you...as they would see it!!). Assuming that the two of you are close and have good communication, have a heart to heart with him. Tell him how you feel (don't preach) and that you worry for his health in the future if this keeps up. Explain that part of the reason you had surgery was to be healthy so that you can be with him for a long time to come. Explain to him that it will work better if you are BOTH around for that long time and that even though he may not be experiencing any health related problems right now....it could easily lead to them. Better to nip it now than to wait until it is even HARDER and to the point where he needs to consider alternatives (ie. surgery). I guess that was my long way of saying...just have a real heart to heart with him and tell him how you feel....ya know? Just make sure he knows that you love him no matter what...but that you want him (& you) to have a long and healthy life together. As for the parents blaming you and your "American ways"....LOL..WHATEVER!!! ....I would tell them that their son is a grown man and has 100% control over what he puts in his mouth!! I think that is what would bother me the most about this situation if it were me!! LOL. In-Laws!!!! Eeep!! Good luck though, my friend!

Hi Tagger (Kim)....welcome. I didn't go to Mexico so I can't really comment but I do know several ppl have gone alone and they might have some input; however not many (if at all!) in the Canadian thread. You may want to re-post your query in the "General" thread...you will likely get more of a response there! Just a suggestion!

SUSAN: good luck tomorrow!!!!!! Julie: Awesome about the loss on your holiday!!! Woot! Woot!
-
Okey Dokey!!! I sent off my package to my workin' stiff after work today. I did send it air mail but the post office couldn't tell me how long it will take, cause as soon as it hits the Canadian Border, they have no say or control over it!!! So, it will depend on the US postal service now!!! This has been so fun, I'm so excited for my person to get the package!!!! It's goin' south though, ladies and gents....pretty much as south as you can get in your country!!! LOL....*hint hint hint*

Errrrr.....why not.... Breakfast: Cereal (TurboZ) with milk (ate this late: around 9:30) Didn't really have lunch...(out and about and went to a movie)....so had "Slupper" (Lunch and Supper together) around 3:30: Slupper: shared the fol meal with hubby (we ate out): ceasar salad, chicken and fries (gulp....) (they were seasoned "salt & vinegar" fries: OUT OF THIS WORLD). That's it. Prob not the best choices (the fries) and I know I didn't eat enough today....but tomorrow's another day! (Wknds for me are always a little less stringent).....work days are easier!
