Hey Paulax....I find it a bit odd that you only had 1.65 cc's put in for a 10cc band as your first fill. I only say that because at TLBC, their standard first fill for 10cc bands (ie. the Midband) is 5 ccs (unless of course you state you already feel restriction...which is apparently the case only for a verrrry small %age). So, yeah, I recommend you ask for quite a bit more next time; especially if you aren't feeling anything. On Fri, I got 2 more ccs (for a total of 7) and now I'm FINALLY feeling this and am quite happy to be feeling what I am feeling (restriction wise). Good luck!
  3. So, I like to think of myself as a PB Virgin. Not so sure I am but I don't think there is anything as a 1/2 way virgin is there?! LOL. I "think" I've had one or 2 PBs but if so, they were pretty minor compared to what I've read about....so no complainin' from my end! I have had (twice) severe pain but it was SUPER short-lived....so again, no complaining. The second time I had it....I was already finished supper and was "full"....but then I ate my chewable Vitamin and that set me off! LOL. I guess I didn't even have room in there for THAT!? I have also had the "slimes" about 3 times since Fri. But again...not near as bad as what I've seen described on the other threads. The first one happened on Fri a couple of hrs after my fill. I was in the car (Mr. Yoda was driving) and I was sipping Water. It started to come back up sorta and my mouth kept filling with water (slime). We were at a red light (no other cars around) so I opened my window with the intent of spitting (I had no kleenex - not that kleenex would have been sufficient!). As Mr. Yoda called me his "Dainty Flower" I spit out the window...and MUCH to my shock and dismay, all the slime came flying back at me ...hit me in the arm and oozed all down the interior side of the door. UUUUUUGH. Did I mention I had no kleenex??!! GRRRROS man.....it was all thick and slimey alright; obviously something more than just the water I swallowed. Thank god Mr. Yoda loves me!!! LOL. Ah welll, what's a lil' slime between soulmates?!!!! Overall though, still no real complaints regarding PBing or sliming!

    Argon's Activities

Glad u are feeling better Wheezy. Some folks feel restriction (various amounts) before their first fill (some don't even need a fill!) and others don't feel any restriction at all. I felt some restriction for about the first 4 weeks....the last 2 I was careful and did it by willpower alone (ie. before my first fill). But even after my first fill it was all by willpower (long story....they thought they put in 5ccs but in reality I had zero!!!). I can't comment on what Dr. Mumford does, but TLBC gives the first fill after 6 weeks. The appt is even made for it the day of surgery. If food is getting "stuck" sometimes on the way down, than you are experiencing restriction. This is good. To alleviate that feeling, eat slower, take smaller bites and chew chew chew and then chew some more! Yes, you will be able to eat more and more until your first fill. The trick is to not give in to that. Look at it this way...you have been eating a lot less....so even though you now CAN eat more....try not to...try to keep up the smaller portions until you get the help you will get after your first fill! Easier said than done (believe me, I know!) but try!!! Good luck....u r doin' great!
  8. Okay....so if Penni's gift to Canada was for Woodys and not me....who else got a Canadian??? Hmmmmmm????? *waiting patiently* LOL (okay not so patiently!)

Yes, because I do have a direct line to God's ear, doncha know!!!
  12. Yoda

    Where is Neenagh

Don't worry about the McD's episode Neenagh. Better you do it NOW than after you are banded and healing when it could be very harmful (looks at KIM!!!). So, don't fret about it.....you'll be fine after you've had the surgery...you'll do great, I know it!!!!!

    April Bandits, It's August!!!!

Hi fellow April Bandits.... I thought I would share my progress with ya. I had a fill on Fri (under fluroscope this time). Everything (port wise etc) is fine. I got 2 more ccs; for a total of 7 in my Midband. I definitely have restriction now; I will keep my fingers crossed that it is the sweet spot! Even though I had my surgery 21 Apr, I count my "stats" from 7 Apr (which is when I started my pre-op diet). So, in 20 weeks: Pounds Lost: 44 Inches Lost: 26.75(this is a total of measuring chest, waist, hips, right thigh, right calf, right bicep) BMI: went from 45.5 to 38 I am now "only" obese and not "extremely obese!!! A nice side effect.....Mr Yoda (who is not banded) has lost 25 lbs and 16 inches over the last 20 weeks!!!! Overall, I am please....it averages to 2.2 lbs a week and I can't complain about that. I do work out like a demon (90 mins 4-5 times a week) so I'm surprised I don't lose more...but that has always been the case with me, despite my workouts (I believe it is related to the PCOS). Everyone keep up the GREAT WORK!!! Soon we'll be in an April Bandits September thread! <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

    messin up

It doesn't mean you will fail. If you think you will, then you will. Pick yourself up, dust off and start again. Don't beat yourself up over it. And, yes, as Cloe said...eat more but NOT burgers/popcorn etc (make that a one time mistake)....you can't be eating that at this stage of your healing. Just eat(drink) more full fluids or move on to the mushies. You WILL be able to eat it later once you have restriction (but not THAT much of it...or trust me you will be in a world of pain). Bettina also had good advice....we all crave....but just wait a few mins, do something else and it will normally go away. oh yeah...and stop goin' to movies!! LOL. Seriously thou Kim...don't beat yourself up...but you have also got to be wise about this whole thing..kay? You CAN do it......you know you can.

Sorry I can't help Cloe. Did you post your query on the general site? There might be more hits there. Also, I would recommend you call your Dr.s office (Marie?) and inquire. Keep an eye!

  18. Yeah, I got a lot done this weekend too! No time to relax at all! I have a couple of hours now to do just that, so I am off to do so....then another work week *sigh*. I have a dr. appt tomorrow with the specialist doc who recommended me for this surgery....I can't wait to see him and tell him THANK YOU and tell him "so far, so good". So, yesterday was my weekly weigh in day (and monthly measurement day). Here is an update on my progress (which is also what I'll tell that doc; I actually have a printout all ready for him!). Even though I had my surgery 21 Apr, I count my "stats" from 7 Apr (which is when I started my pre-op diet). So, in 20 weeks: Lost: 44 lbs Lost: 26.75 inches (this is a total of measuring chest, waist, hips, right thigh, right calf, right bicep) BMI: went from 45.5 to 38 I am now "only" obese and not "extremely obese!!! Wheezy: take it easy when you are back at work...and...try and enjoy your first week back!! I hope the complication wasn't serious. Mandi: why can't you guys move into the apartment that Lauren is getting? (or is it a smaller one?). I looooove Newf dogs but yeah....it will be hard on the dog being home alone all day. I hope she figures it out; either way she shouldn't rush into it. That is kewl and so great that you are enjoying your job!!! Stop doing so well or your gonna make the others look bad! LOL. Didn't take you long to pick it up, so that is good! BTW, I didn't mean to make you feel self-consious; I was just joshin' with ya!! I liked the zit poppin' photo!!! I realllly like this one too....you are very very VERY pretty!!! :hippie: :hippie:

    Canadian "AUGUST" Challenge

Hmmmm well I did have "chips" (ie. pringles) 3 times in August...*sigh* (only a wee bit though). And I have 2-3 more lbs to lose to meet my Aug weight goal of an 8 lb loss. I don't weigh again until Sat (2 Sep) so I will give myself until then. maybe with my new fill I just might be able to make it. Yeah, I can't "forbid" myself any foods for any future challenges....I hate being "deprived" of anything even if I'm the one saying I want to be deprived...it makes it so much worse for me. Who knows, I may not have had any chips at all if I hadn't have made it a big deal...ya know? So, future challenges will not involve deprivation for me!! LOL. Good habits yes.....absolutely. all in all...not bad....course I'll be happier if I meet my weight goal next Sat! Good luck all.....keep at it; you got a whole week left!
  23. You are soooo very welcome Jeangab! Really glad u liked everything; I had so much fun picking it all out!! I'm glad you received everything okay. Don't be a stranger on here!!!! Hope you had a nice trip to Mexico!!!

    Chronicles of Cloe!!!!!

Here is a website for one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) shopping centre in Toronto: http://www.shopsquareone.com/ It is only a 10-15 mins drive from Pearson Airport and I'm sure there are hotels near the mall. So you could always stay in one of those and then cab it to TLBC. Make sure you tell the cabbie to take you to TLBC via the highways and NOT thru town (or that will be a rip off)....they should take you via the 427 South to the QEW, exit at Spadina and go up that way.... Anyways, Square One Mall is HUUUUUUUGE and a wee bit better than Wallmart! I'm sorry....you prob already said and I may have missed it....but are you going to TO a day or two BEFORE your surgery to shop? (I hope it is before and not after!!).
