Hi Swanny...yes, it is very very very normal to be going through what you are going through (including the feelings you are having). But if you look through all the threads (not just our Canuck ones) you will very quickly realize that it is VERY seldom when the first fill (even the first couple/few) are THE right fill. You have to slowly build up to it. Yes, some will hit the "sweet spot" right away (lucky SOBs!!!) but the VAST majority have to lead up to it. So, you ARE on track....and just enjoy what you can right now....get used to it, see if you are averaging (I stress averaging) 1-2 lbs a week and if not....go for another fill. But give it a chance. Really....no worries.....you are right where you are supposed to be!

I hear ya loud and clear Wheezy....exactly why very few people know about my surgery. Mandi....rest assured, if the band had been around when I was 25, I wouldn't have thought twice about it. Ummmm okay, granted I didn't need it when I was 25 but you get my point...!!!
-
Tks Cloe....keep on callin' it!!! Hmmmmm you didn't call me a TURDy did you??!!:rolleyes hmmm just might have been an insinuation mixed in there!
-
try some veggies and see what happens, Green. You might be fine. And if you aren't....try them again another time; it all changes. Just chew chew chew.....
-
That is great Cloe!! Yay! Track pants...hmmmm....wellllll....okay...but next time I want you to buy some skinny jeans!!!
-
Yeah, I'm in the "middle" of being obese now too!! LOL Yay!! I have also gone down 10 pts on my BMI!!! Gotta love THAT!

That IS a good one!

Mookie: it will be normal to have these flip flop thoughts. Yup, everyone is different in every respect wrt speed of loss, what they eat, what they cAN or can not eat, how often (or even if ever) they PB, slime, or get a golfball (stuck) feeling. It's good to inform yourself and be aware of different things that happen but you will experience your own situation your way. But, really, it is all good!!! Definitely you will always want to continue with a large Water intake. Like Mandi, I also still drink my water but can't seem to chug it sometimes when I want to (ie. during/after a workout). That being said, sometimes I CAN chug it; other times I can't. For instance, last night around 2:00 am I woke up and had a teeny sip of water and it felt "stuck" and I was uncomfortable for about 10 mins. Other times I can drink a whole lot (quickly) and no problem. If you haven't already figured out, this band is very fickle. People find and work with what works for them. Me...I do not (& refuse to) count calories and fat etc. To me that is too much like a diet and I hate diets and refuse to ever do that again. So, I pretty much eat what I want and just try and make the healthy choice. Sometimes I don't...but that is okay...I want to be happy. So, if I want to have a couple/few chips with dip or a mini scoop of icecream, I will. But, at least I'm not having it ALL the time and not eating a whole bag. So, for me, that is good. But overall, Imake the healthy choice as Mandi described and opt for the Protein first etc. There are a few things I consciously avoid having because they don't sit well with my band....but that doesn't mean I won't try them again at a later time. Anyways, sorry...I'm just ramblin' away!!! But those were my two cents!

haha...tks Mookie! Okay, so I'm a happy camper; lost 3 lbs this week; that is the first time I've lost 3 lbs in a week since the first couple after surgery. Now if I only wish I knew what I did!! To be honest, I did nothing new...maybe it was just my body "catching up". Who knows. Maybe it just finally thought, "oh vey....she is a tough one and she ain't gonna feed us more so we may as well just shed these 3 lbs of fat we're hangin' onto"....I won't knock it. Of course, it is too good to be true and I prob should just hope for my one pound this week! So, I'm at 55 down now....I know I should be proud/happy of that because I never thought I'd see the day when I would be in the 2"teens" again.....yay!!! Now I can't WAIT to see the 2"singles"!!!! Maybe in early Jan I'll be saying, can't wait to see the ONEderland world!!! Oh my!!! Dare I hope!!! BTW, my sister came a visitin' me this weekend (she doesn't know) and she didn't seem to pick up on anything "weird" with my eating habits or anything. Hmmmm, she also didn't notice (or at least say anything) about the loss. We had a GREAT time at Rama Casino though; we saw Tim Conway and Harvey Korman! What great memories of being a kid that brought back. We were permitted to stay up until 9:00 pm on Thurs to watch the Carol Burnett Show. We REALLY enjoyed it and they were amazing; I laughed sooooo much my throat hurt!!!! Gotta looooove those two. (they are now 72 and 80 respectively and still doing this!!). Anyways, all that to say, if you ever have a chance to see them....you must!!! Hope ya'll had a fab weekend! -

ahhhhh a "wayback" machine. Wouldn't that be kewl. Hmmm, things I regret that I would have a chance to re-think, re-do....hmmm what can those be? Kinda, sorta, maybe like the fol: - volunteering to go live/work for 6 months just 500 km south of the NORTH pole (no exaggeration!...and over the WINTER months too....so I don't wanna hear any whinin' from anyone sayin' they are cold....you don't even know what cold is!! LOL) - marrying an a**hole 20 yrs ago even though every beat of my heart and every brain cell told me not to (THAT only lasted 3 years!) -all the other a**holes that I "thought" I was in love with (when do we learn?!!) - letting the couple of non a**holes "get away" because of my cowardice hmmm there seems to be a pattern here! (lets just say that I don't have the problem some of the others have mentioned....I didn't need any more men in my life!!) Movin' on away from that pattern: - my horrible teen years; I'd change a lot of things I did (didn't do) back then; maybe then I would have a better/closer relationship with my Father/Sister today - as an adult I became a "people pleaser"; I would certainly change that and march to my own beat (but toned down from the beat I had as a teen!) - not being able to stop my folks from putting down my beloved German Shepherd when I was 10 (yea, still hurts!) But you know what....overall...I can't say I actually have any regrets, so to speak; I honestly wouldn't change anything, given the opportunity. Even the "bad" stuff helped me grow and become the crazy, insane, neurotic yet fun loving, kind, gentle, sweet person that I am now (though some may disagree!!!! *evil laughter*). THE main reason I wouldn't go back is because perhaps I was on a track/path....my destiny would have been altered otherwise and it wouldn't have led me to the ultimate meeting between myself and Mr. Yoda. And since I so absolutely can NOT imagine my life without him, I wouldn't change one iota so that it wouldn't screw up my destiny of meeting him and having the opportunity to spend the rest of my life with him (coming up to our 5th year anniversary next month which is by far the longest I've ever been with one person!). Yeah, it took me awhile, but oh, sooooo worth the wait! So...*hands back way back machine*. No thanks!! But it is fun thinking about it!!!

Mmmmmmmmmmmm have a light sabre, I do.

Like Drs Coburn/Mumford, TLBC has also started a message board (accessible from their website: www.tlbc.ca). They also have a "TLBC Buddy Program". I just registered for the online support forum (msg board) so I haven't been able to use it yet...so am unable to provide a review on user friendliness etc. I'll know more once I have been accepted as a registrant. Any other TLBC pers tried it out at all?

I haven't tried in over a week since I don't have my code # yet. I haven't heard back on it, either.

I know your fill is tomorrow...so bonne chance!!! We'll all be rootin' for ya. I know it will go well. Be sure to come back and let us know. ....and....don't take a demerol beforehand, silly girl!!! You don't need it!
-
That is a dilemma indeed. My opinion is that, yes, it IS still hard work and this is one tool to help out like any other tool. It is correct that if we "eat around the band" and make unhealthy choices the weight loss won't come. I understand you not telling them; I wouldn't either and I know where you are coming from on that front. However....that being said...if you win and IF someone there in the future ever finds out about your band (it is possible) then there may be some hard feelings. Even though, to me, it would be a fair competition...with this tool....those who don't understand it will have the perception that it isn't fair...and as we know....unfortunately perception is sometimes everything. So, ya it is a tough one. No answer for ya...just giving you my thoughts!
-
Kattiegirl...don't worry 'bout it and don't get discouraged. It WILL work. Patience is key. Even if u have a fill, you may not have the right amount of restriction and it may take a few fills to hit that "sweet spot"....so till then, just keep pluggin' away!

That's great angelbear; glad ur 1st fill went well!
