LOL Cloe, you actually made me GUFFAW....not once, but twice!!! Me thinks Mr Yoda and Mr Cloe are of the same mindset....remind me to never get those two together! Yes, I am still fighting this cold/flu thingy....(another reason why I probably have no patience lately and this Costco tire thing rattled me)....if I STILL haven't shaken it by the end of this week (which will make it 2 weeks) I'll go see a quack about it. Speaking of quack....how did you know I have a rubber ducky in my tub?? (I have two, actually....and a third one that lights up and changes colours in the water....that one is Mr Yoda's though!!). Yes people, we have NO kids......what's your point??!! Adults can have rubber duckys toooooooo! Alright, I am heading to the tub now to thaw my butt and to calm my fiery red-headed Irish temper down before Mr Yoda walks in the door; not fair to him to take it out on him. :sick :sick -
Yoda's Jedi Journals (aka Yoda's Yammerin's)
Yoda replied to Yoda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay, so I had today off work (federal gov't holiday for the 11th). I got up bright and early (my day off!!!) to go to costco and get there 30 mins before it opened so that I could get my winter tires put on my car...thinking....how smart am I. Okay, well, much to my DISMAY, about 30,000 other people had the same idea this morning....despite my early arrival, there were already 25 people ahead of me in line. *SIGH*. So, once they open, I snake my way through the line and get to the counter at 10:15 and I'm told it will be ready by 4:00. OMIGAWD>....I live too far away to just take a cab home (ie. nearby town) and so now I was STUCK. (I did have the foresight to bring a book, thinking I "might" have to wait 30 mins....but NOT over 6 hours!!!). So, I called Mr Yoda (who did have to work today) thinking he would take pity on me, leave work and come get me to take me home. Nooooooooooooo. WTF????? He merely said, "go home and we'll try another time". But, c'mon, it will be like this ALL the time!!!! So, I called a friend who lives in the city to see if she could either take me home or I could hang with her but her phone was continuously busy for over 2 hrs (she has teens, so go figure!) and so I never got through. So, not knowing what to do I just started reading my book. After 2 hrs, the guy took pity on me and asked me which car was mine. He then said it it would be ready by 1:30 instead of 4:00. Oh joy. (sarcasm). True to his word, I got it at 1:30, so I "only" had to wait for 4 hours!!!! GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I got home by 2:00. Okay....so the actual point of this is: I was now STARVING.....since I had my Breakfast (a few bites of toast) six hours earlier. So, on the way home, I thought how GREAT it would be to stop at Wendys and have a burger and fries; something I would likely have done pre-band days to soothe my frustration and anger of wasting all that time ON MY DAY OFF.....you know...make it all okay and worthwhile. (Keep in mind I haven't even had a bite of a burger since early April!). Anyways, I obviously did NOT stop at Wendys because I figured I would only be able to eat a few fries and that would be it.....so I came straight home. So, that is an NSV in itself. BUT< when I got home I was so damn hungry I went straight for a bag of Salt & Vinegar chips that were in the house.....I ate maybe 4 chips (too fast) and felt icky (caught it in time though!) and then realized....okay...yeah, I have a band....I suppose thank god for the band. But on the other hand, I was thinking, "DAMN YOU DAMN BAND". I'm a freak. I know it. And now I have to try not to be pissed off at Mr Yoda when he gets home for not volunteering to come and get me earlier. What a rough day. SHADDDUP!!! I know it's all relative!!!! LOL....I mean, I KNOW I don't have a teenager driving me batty....(*hugs Cloe*) but it was still tough for me in it's own way. By the way...did I mention that I froze my ass off literally on a cold slab of cement while I was waiting in the lobby area? Really...my ass is still sooooo cold......I'm gonna take a warm bath but I gotta wait for it (my ass) to warm up a bit or it will sting when it hits the water!!! As much as I love Canada and being a Canadian I hate that we live in a climate that puts us through the damn tire changing season. Grrrrrr. Okay, I vented (see Maria!!!) so I feel better now. I'm gonna go see if I can squeeze in one more chip now! hehe :guess -
Hang in there Cloe!
-
Hiya Maria! Bitch away all you want!! I know the feeling though...I tend to keep things to myself as well (yes, believe it or not!!!). I was sick all last week too (and it is still hangin' on) and I also thought I'd lose....I gained 1 lb last week. Go figure. First time I've gained since August. Ugh. I'm thinking it is just the body's way of saying "WTF?!!" after being sick for a while.....probably yours too. Dunno why you gained 5 lbs....but no worries....it'll come off. Slow but sure wins the race.....right? I sure as hell hope so!! Anyways, hang in there Maria....you can do it, we can do it, we all can do it! This was just a little speed bump in the road of life.....

Happy B'day Doriana!! I wouldn't worry about the throat thing. ...and YES.....if you are still hungry...have some more yougurt for a snack throughout the day etc. You can't just eat it at Breakfast, lunch and dinner...that isn't enough to sustain you...so have some yougurt Snacks as well!!! You're doin' GREAT!
-
Yup, it too will pass Cloe! (I hope!) Hang in there!

letter from the minister of health about the lab band
Yoda replied to andreerichards1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It shows overall ignorance of the procedure and what it involves. I applaud New Brunswick! -
That IS a great NSV Mandi!! No worries...in the future, if you feel like talking to the receptionist lady about the "other" part of your secret you can....but you don't need to feel obligated in any way; it is your business and you don't have to be a walking advert for the Band! You'll know if/when to talk about it to certain people. Have an AWESOME wknd in one of my former hometowns!!! Have a pint on tap at the Lower Deck for me and sing "Barretts Privateers"!
-
You'll have a BLAST in Halifax Mandi. Yes, be sure to go to Peggy's Cove....wonderful!!! Also, you MUST MUST MUST go to the pub, "The Lower Deck" on the watefront.....you can NOT go to Halifax and NOT go there. It is THE best pub with a worldwide reputation. Nothing fancy...just long wooden table and benches where you sit with strangers (who don't stay strangers for long) but they have THE best bands and ALL of the patrons just sing sing sing!!!! I hope you go!!! Have fun!

I don't see why u couldn't have it done in Ottawa....GOODLUCK!
-
No questions are silly, so don't feel like an idiot!! Yes, you can have crystal light. And...yes, during the pre-op diet you can drink when you eat etc....no problem at all.
-
Good luck to you Doriana....and to your hubby (sounds like he is doing VERY well!!). You can do it...you are correct though, the first 3-4 days will likely be the hardest so try try try to stick with it; I promise it will get easier (not "easy" but "easier"). It's good that you like cottage cheese; I can't stand to even look at that stuff, so I only had yogurt. Hint: eat the yogourt/cottage cheese etc really slow....make it last throughout your "mealtime".....you'll want to gobble it but try not to. Not only will it train you to eat slow but you will feel like you are having more than you really are. Also, it might help to put your yogurt/c. cheese in a lil' bowl and eat it from that instead of directly from the container (that way you know how much you are having...and more importantly you will "feel" like you are having a meal....ya know?). and....drink drink drink drink your Water....it will be even more important over the next few days as you have the carb withdrawal! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!! (god knows if I could, anyone can!) :clap2: :clap2:
-
HOLY CRAP CAROL!!! I would just like to say.... YOWZERS!!!! LOOKIT you go!! YOUR weight loss is AMAZING....you will be at goal in no time!!! Congrats!!! :clap2:

aaaaaaah....leave it to you Cloe to come up with that icon! -
ahem....I would also like to point out that I've been realllllly good and haven't said one single word about mandi's head shrinkin'....cause oooooh, there is soooooo much I could say there....she completely opened the door on THAT one. But I have refrained!!! (with some difficulty, I might add!).

Alrighty...well CANADA here!! What grades are middle school??? In Canada....there is even a very small %age of High schools that have football teams!!! It's just not that big up here (in schools).... But, I get the point! LOL but....now, grown men playing football.....and all that ass slappin' is about the only thing worthwhile watching wrt football!!!
-
Forgot to mention....yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy on your new glasses....you should have them in no time!! I just about croaked at your prescription though!!! I WISH!!!!! Mine is at -7 and -7.25 *sigh*.
-
That is great Mandi!! I know!!! Isn't it amazing when you look at the tape at how many inches you've lost...and it's like WHERE THE HELL WAS THAT??!!! I still do it once a month as well and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it; especially for those who are strugglin' with the pounds...cause you WILL see the inches fall off!
-
*hands over some duct tape*. I hear it works for everything; smack some onto that scalp of yours!!! Okay, seriously though.....don't worry.....it'll stop before too long and the weight will come off eventually too. It WILL be worth it in the long run. Don't get discouraged. I know it may be easier for me to say since I didn't have any significant hair loss. I know I did have some but my hair is so damn thick it was a blessing in disguise. But just hang in there!!
