    Lila's Lounge

*hands on hips with stern look on face* Lila????? I HOPE the reason you "couldn't" get a defill was not YOUR choice but something else???!!! Ahem.....although I fear it was the latter! Mandi is completely right....this isn't the way the band is supposed to work, my friend....but you know that (right?) so I won't keep babblin' about it! Think things through...... .5 cc could be the entire difference! Tough love indeed!! :rolleyes Take care.
  2. Roxanne: I lived in Germany as a kid and I went back again 12 years ago to meet all my German relatives for the first time. When I lived in Germany they were "stuck" in Russia but once the Wall came down they all were able to migrate back to their homeland in Germany. The Canadian gov't wouldn't allow my Dad to go to Russia to seek them out when we lived there so we never got to see/meet them. My Grandpa was the only one of the family who "got away" when the Russian Revolution broke out and made it to Canada....all the other famiily members got "stuck". So, me and one of my cousins (2nd cousin) got in contact about 16 yrs ago now and he and I started the ball rolling. It was difficult at first as all his letters were in Russian (& eventually German once he learned the language) and mine were writen in English. When I went there 12 yrs ago I was welcomed with amazingly open arms and had this HUGE family I didn't know about. I fell in love with everyone so much that I convinced my dad (& mom) to go...they did and now they have been 3 times. So, I'm itchin' to get back there and see everyone. Since then, a few of them have learned English.....which is GREAT....I promised to learn German...and unlike them (who kept their promises to learn English); I didn't (sigh).....but I miss them terribly and I want them & Mr. Yoda to meet! By the way Roxanne.....ummmm....do you go to the pool that I think you go to??? I've already been at work for 2 days already!! But, admittedly it is very quite.....only 4 of us in the entire bldg...next week the grind will start again!!!
  3. Well, THAT I know about all too well first hand!!! LOL

    Referral for Consultation

Hey Time2Live!!!!! Long time no see!!! Good to see you. You are doing FANtastic!!! JLB: I live about 2 hrs north of Toronto....so yes, I do go to Toronto for my fills. I don't go to the actual clinic at TLBC though....I go to a hospital in TO where either Dr. J or Y do fills by fluro for those who need it done by that method. Unfortunately, I am one of those people....but actually for me, it works out better...the hospital is a bit easier for me to get to than the clinic downtown. If you are wondering why I get my fills by fluro...it is merely the manner in which my port is positioned that makes it difficult for the fill nurse to get me on the first couple of tries (I have some stories about it that you can find if you do a search) and though both Docs got me that way...it still took them "too many" tries....so by fluro it is a snap...(plus I will admit it is realllllllly kewl seeing my insides....when I saw my heart beating it was verrrrrry kewl indeed!!!). My experience at TLBC was excellent but likely everyone will the say the same thing about their surgeron and clinic etc. My advice (especially when paying that much money) is to visit and have a consult with at least 2 clinics (an easy thing to do in TO since there are a few in the area). That way, you get a personal "feel" for the people (ie. pre-op and post-op staff), the surroundings etc....nothing beats the first hand experience. Afterall, you wouldn't buy the first car you look at on the lot. Different things will appeal to different people...at least if you literally check out two places you can make an informed decision for what is "right" for you, for your own personal reasons. All that being said, whether you go with TLBC or Dr. C, you will be in good hands!! I'm excited for you and everyone else just starting their journey!!!

    Referral for Consultation

Hey JLB: sounds like you are doing it all for the right reasons!! It's too bad this wasn't an option several yrs ago, eh? Investing in our health is one of the best things we can ever do!! And....we deserve it!!

    waterloo banders??

ooooooooooooooooooo, *biting at the bit*...I will refrain from making a comment....because we play nice in our Canuck Sandbox!!!! But there are so many comments I would love to make here!!! LOL I'm sure my fellow Canucks can imagine them though, so no need!!! :nervous
  8. So, why is it called the "Big Smoke" anyways? Where is that derived from?

    Referral for Consultation

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm *raises eyebrow*. I hope newbies on here or lurkers don't get the wrong idea about that statement. This is only one of several lap-band support sites.....I've ONLY heard good things about all surgeons doing the surgery in Toronto area. I won't make a judgement about the others. I know one thing.....Dr.s J & Y were the first two surgeons in Canada doing the surgery....so very experienced indeed. I would (& in fact have) recommended Drs J/Y AND Dr. C to people who ask. I just don't want anyone to get misinformation here. :phanvan
  10. aaahhhh *remembering the days I was a PB virgin*..... Really though, it hasn't happened that often to me so I'm fortunate. But when it has happened....Oooooooooooooo migawd...the PAIN!!! (thankfully short lived in my case!).

    Banded Dec 15th

AHEM.....tied a string around the straps?????????????????? *KICKS Roxanne in the butt* time to go bathing suit shopping my friend!!!! YEEEEEESH!!!!!!
  14. haha you guys are funny! First of all, nooooo I am not going for the purpose of "wowing" my parents (truly nothing to wow them about anyways).....it is just I haven't been out there in 2 years and though I've seen my mom since then (she came here) I haven't seen my dad.....and he is almost 73 (tho they are both in excellent health)....I just figure I should see them (the obligation thing happening) sometime soon or I'll never get around to it. I'm tied up with work until end March but after that I'm flexible for a few months. I will see them in Jun (they are coming here for 3 nights before heading to Ottawa to see my sister and the grandkids) but it isn't the same as me visiting them out there......and I've begun to hear some "grumblings".....ya know? Plus, in 2008, Mr Yoda and I are planning on going to Germany so a trip to BC will be out for 2008.....so if I don't see them in 2007 it ain't gonna happen until 2009 and THAT won't make them happy! Roxanne....that isn't always the case about it being THAT much cheaper flying into Vancouver. When I went 2 yrs ago, we did that and with the bus fare etc....etc....it only ended up being $10 cheaper.....!!! Not worth it! Anyways...AirCanada just announced a seat sale....I can get to Victoria for $554!!!! But of course they don't mention how long the sale is on....I don't want to be forced to buy my ticket right now.....so I'm gonna call AC today to see if they know how long the opportunity will be for. It's always such a gamble! Thanks for all your help everyone.
  15. Ahhh, I found it....however it is only good until 6 Mar and I can't go before Apr...I'm good to go anytime after April. Thanks though!

    Banding in the West

Gaffer....ask & yee shall receive!! Check it out: all the info on Square One at this site: http://www.shopsquareone.com/01ab_gein.html It really is a great mall; one of the largest within Toronto. That is great that you love to shop....there are very few of you around! Thankfully, Mr Yoda LOOOOOOVES to shop & snoop in stores (admittedly, even moreso than I!). His Sister-in-law always says she married the "wrong" brother! LOL. Have fun...and be sure to check out the mall....! (pssst, there is also a "playdium" across the street from the mall)!
  17. Okay, I signed up for the WestJet thing and they have a sale on right now.....I could go to Vic for $627 (better than $827)....but you have to travel my 7 Mar; I can't go untiil after Mar.....BUT I will keep checking....maybe there will be more sales as the time gets closer for the dates I want. Thanks for the tip. As for AirCanada...I checked out the pass thingy but the cheapest I can find (ie. for pass in North America) is $1999.00!! So, perhaps I'm missing the link somewhere....or it's over. :cry
  18. Thanks guys.... Unlimited Pass with AirCanada?? grrrr no.....I did NOT see that (& I have been looking!). Tks for the sites Mandi....I"ll check them out. (I'd like to go in mid April).

    Lila's Lounge

I'm glad (relieved) to hear you will get it sorted out Lila....and you're wise having it done under fluoro....given the circumstances!!! Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  20. That is what I thought Lila...but is there ever advance warning or do I have to literally check on the site every day? And, yes you are correct....WestJet and Aircanada have always been within $20 of each other (total) for the flights from TO to Vic.

    just new here !!!

Howdy Misspiano and welcome to the Canuck Corner :canada: :welcome: Good luck with your research...you are doing a great thing coming here; this website is excellent for info....I know it was invaluable for me. Be sure to check out the general threads and the support threads as well (ie. not just the Canuck corner)....there is so much info to be gleaned. Also, the search function is very useful.

    Which classic pin-up are you?

    I am Betty Grable.
  24. Good thread Bandiva. 1. Not be so neurotic 2. Learn to control my OCD (tough one) 3. Recognize when I'm on the verge of "freakin' out" so that I don't do it 4. Control the way I react to stress better 5. Appreciate Mr Yoda much better than I sometimes do (ie. do to the above!) 6. Let things lie

    My Life as a Bandster

Bandiva...yup....lil' goals work best....that way you can see the end ....if I think of the whole entire amount I need to lose, it freaks me out too much! (still!). I've been going in 10 lb increments.....you know....couldn't wait to be in the 260s then 250s, 240s etc......that seems to work well for me. Good luck!
