Hey Doriana....since you are on solids now you can basically eat whatever you want!!! It is just trial and error...you have to try stuff...what is "hard" for others won't be hard for you...and what is "hard" for you one day won't be hard for you the next day (or even the next meal). So keep on experimenting...... eveything is "okay" to eat.

Question regarding cc amounts in the first fill.
Yoda replied to Doriana's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Doriana....unless there is some unusual circumstance (ie. you already feel restriction without a fill) TLBC always gives 5ccs as a first fill in the 10cc band. So, no worries.....you are right on track!!! It is DEFINITELY not .5ccs if you have the 10 cc band....migawd, it would take you years to feel restriction at that rate! You're on track girl!!!! :clap2: -
Whoooooo hoooooooooooooo....glad it went well Doriana!!! Way to go!! If you are worried, eat some soft food first (ie. Beans or something)....you have to jump in eventually though! Small bites and chew till it seems like you've chewed forever!! Did you "feel" anything when you stayed to drink your bottle of Water?

Tks for the explanation as to why you didn't get the unfill Lila. Yeah, yeah....we know....ur living it up in Meeecccckiko ...things to do, bodies to tan, water to surf, castles to build, sand to squish between your toes........ahhh someone's gotta do the tough stuff, right? We know you have no time for us!! And that is okay!! You are just so enviable right now we can't help but give you a rough time!!!! Me thinks we are just very humbled that you even take time out to come say hi every once in a while! Tacky souvenir accepted.... Keep on having fun!!

Hi and first of all....welcome b_russell!!! :welcome: Congrats on your banding date. I think the important thing is to know about erosion and slippage etc...in other words know what it is and that it "can" occur under some circumstances....but I recommend that other than arming yourself with the knowledge you don't get caught up in the details and follow the complications that some people have (ie. I will never go to the "complications" thread unless something like that winds up happening to me and I need support). Overall, the chances of that happening are slim...it will sometimes just look like it is more than slim because people are often more likely to come on a site such as this with their stories of "complications" moreso than their successess.....so it may seem skewed. To address you questions....(at least my opinion....) 1) What causes the surgery to fail (aka, what can I do to make sure it doesn't) ? I think the best thing you can do is just follow the "bandster rules" that you will be given....that is all you can do. Also....follow the post-op diet that TLBC gives you in order to give it the best chance possible to "heal" and anchor. That being said....even if you "do" everything "right"....shit sometimes happens and it is no guarantee that you won't have a problem (but again.....there ARE more successes out there than failures.....FAR more!). 2) If you need to be de-banded because of slippage or erosion, are you back to square one (having to pay for the surgery all over again), or will they repeat the procedure? This question if likely to general to have one generic answer. Likely each clinic/surgeon has their own policy on this....I don't recall what TLBC's is but I would recommend if it is important for you to know this that you call or e-mail TLBC (ie. Nisrine) and make the inquiry....it would be best to get the answer from the horse's mouth so to speak!!! (not that Nisrine is a horse!! LOL). Good luck on your journey...and think positive!!! -
*chuckles* yaaaaah, that's it....Saint Yoda. Ahem. Yeah, they all DO have dirty minds, don't they....gotta clean up the crap they leave behind all the time. No matter how many times we tell 'em this isn't an X Rated site....they insist on pullin' out all the stops and bringin' up the smut!!! :huytsao :rolleyes

Hi Lemonlulu (cute name and welcome!) :welcome: A lot of mid-Canada folk go East for the surgery (ie. Toronto). The cost at the various clinics in the Toronto area is anywhere from 15 - 16 thousand...but that price includes "fills for life". In other words, you don't need to shell out extra funds for fills/defills. Some (if they don't want to fly back and forth for fills) will opt to get their fills from their family doc (if he/she is willing to do it) or they find a doc who can do it who lives closer to them (but then they must pay for it). Not sure what you mean by "it doesn't always work"....it is very rare if it doesn't work and is usually the result of non-compliance on the part of the individual or some underlying medical cause (not necessarily related to the band). If you do your research you will see that the stats are really quite good! You have done a good thing by coming here to this site....you can glean a TON of useful info from all the threads (not just the Canuck one but the one entitled "General" and "Support" as well)> Also the "search" function is very handy if you have specific questions! Welcome and research away! -
Mandi...but seriously, you should be able to claim the cost of your move.....because you actually moved more than XX number of km to take on a full time job. Make sure you claim it (did you keep receipts?).
-
pssssssssssssssst Lila.....she's just happy we ain't after her for ignoring her doctor's wishes!!!! Oh ....did I bring that up AGAIN!!??? so very sorry!!! :rolleyes
-
*innocent look*....who? me????? well, it ain't hard to shock me!!! I am so very incredibly innocent and naive, afterall, ya know!!!
-
don't forget Neenagh that you are likely swollen...so you will for sure feel very restricted, even with the defill...it'll go down to where it is a comfortable restriction eventually! Be nice to yourself.

Thank you Mandi....you are so thorough... Cloe....what Mandi said! LOL ummmm of course mine doesn't have a girl on it that looks like that though!!! That must be the more expensive version!! -
Are you more excited about going to TJ or about your fill!! LOL
-
Claiming it will not end up being a straight income reduction (very little ever is!!!)....it will end up being a %age like other medical expenses (ie. claiming prescription lenses etc).
