  1. Thanks SallyJo and Jack; appreciate it! I will be calling tomorrow morning to talk to the clinic and see what the "up" is. If I KNEW this would go away in a few days, I could hack it...but I don't have that guarantee. Jack...I am definitley NOT a "too much is not enough" kind of person....despite losing 7 lbs in a week, I would MUCH MUCH rather lose the 1 lb a week and be "normal" with my eating (ie. eat more than enough to feed a baby sparrow!!). :phanvan
  2. Hi guys, Okay....here is the circumstance: I got a fill last Friday (nine days ago); I did need the fill. I had .5 ccs put in so that I am now at 7.5 ccs in a 10 cc band. The fill was done via fluro and checked, so things didn't seem to appear to be "too tight"....I did start to feel restriction but I initially thought in a "good way". However, I have been unable to eat much at all over the last nine days (ie. I struggle to consume 1/4 cup of beans for a meal). Though this has resulted in a 7 lb loss in the last week, that is not what I'm after. Now, what has started happening (over the last 2 days) is that it seems about an hour and a half after I eat (& I use the term "eat" lightly") I need to vomit (I don't know if I'm PBing or vomiting)....I literally need to do it...so I lean over the sink, I just have to cough (nothing forceful) and some liquid and food (well chewed up teeeeeeny bits of food - if u can call it that) come up. I sometimes feel better afterwards and othertimes I don't. God knows I'm not upchucking because I'm too full!!!! I'm not eating near enough for that! This is a pain...and not good for me (ie. feeling weak and tired etc because I KNOW I'm not getting enough food - let alone water - into me). I've heard lots of ppl say this happened to them after fills and it eventually subsided. So, I don't know if I should just wait it out or if I should have a de-fill. I'm a lil' confused, because as I said, I did need a fill....but now I'm having this problem and this is not the way I want my band to work. Plus, it is really worrying Mr Yoda (and me to some extent because I know this isn't the way it should be).... So, has this happened to anyone out there, and if so, what did you do? Do I consider a de-fill (it's a pain in the ass for me to drive all the way to the clinic for one --- 4 hr round trip ...but I'm willing to do it if required) or do I wait it out? Is this a clear cut sign of being to tight or something else? Comments/experiences greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!

    Fill question

hmmmmm, well as to "port location".....whether they mark you on your skin or not will make no difference; I'm speaking of direct experience....dunno 'bout you but I don't want to go thru another 2 hrs (literally) of being prodded...to no avail. But then again...maybe that is just me. Anyways....you asked for the reasons....that's all I was doin'...Mandi can speak for herself but I have a feeling that is what she was thinkin' about.

    Fill question

a few reasons: - the doc can actually see the band and make sure all is A-OK with placement, adherence, etc - the doc can actually see the liquid flowing through the opening so can tell if things will be drastically too tight or not tight enough etc - there is no second guessing; the port is hit on the first try for sure (important to those of us who have gone through SEVERAL attempts at having the port hit)..... Yeah, it's "constant exposure" but the whole process takes less than two minutes (seriously) and if you only ever get 3 or 4 fills...that is nothing.

    Surgery Question ?

The children's tylenol did me fine...and the grape taste was soooo wonderful!! Get a few bottles though, as you have to take more than the suggested dosage (which is for kids).

    Argon's Activities

Good gawd Mandi...go and try some stuff on in the "normo" stores....I can fit into some of the stuff so YOU DEFINITELY can!!!! BTW, Penningtons is having a sale with ridiculously low prices right now!!! We were driving by one yesterday and I saw the sign and read it out loud (but more to myself) and Mr Yoda (thinking I was hinting - which I wasn't) pulled into the parking lot. I said "whatcha doin'?" and he said, "you now have some empty hangers in your closet and you need to fill 'em up" (I had been putting "big" things away in a bin for a later giveaway). Isn't he awesome! So, we went in and I cleaned them out man!!! I got 11 clothing items for a total of $140 (incl tax). I totalled them up separately when I got home and it came to just over $450!!!! YEEEEHAAA! One of the things I got was a beeeeeautiful pant suit (I'm calling it my "power pant suit"); very professional looking and....it was a size 14!!!!! OMIGAWD!!! Granted it was snuggish and I wouldn't feel comfy wearing it but 10 more lbs and it will be comfy! Some of the tops I got were an "X" ...not even a 1X. Happy happy NSV!!! and I love Mr Yoda!!!

    Full Body Lift

It's a good topic of discussion Cloe. I have very strong opinions on this FOR ME (disclaimer: my opinions apply directly to me and me only...not anyone else....). For me, I will never have PS....ever. It is just something I'm not into. I know I will have a bit of loose skin in my belly area but it looks fine under clothes and I have nobody to impress when I'm naked...Mr Yoda already loves me for who I am, inside and out. Granted, I've never had kids, so I don't have those added belly issues. I do a lot of ab exercises so I know that will also help. All in all, I'm really not that vain and even the surgery I did for health reasons, not vanity. Though, of course, I'm pleased with the way it is making me look and feel about myself but to me that is merely a bonus that I happily accept. As for the scar issues....everyone will heal differently and people also "scar" very differently. (it is always ironic to me how the supporters of PS - especially in the field - focus on the "good scars" and say very little if nothing at all about the possiblity of horrible scarring). For me....I already know that I do not heal well and that I scar very badly. I'm not surprised...as I am very very very fair skinned and I bruise in an instant and even at the slightest bump (trust me, my mom was often "watched" thinking she abused me...with all the bruises on my body!). I know this first hand from different accidents/surgeries etc. Even cuts tend to scar up on me. A long time ago, I had a breast reduction and the scars are still quite messy (nothing to do with the surgeon...just my body and the way it heals). I had a mole removed on my shoulder...just a small incision and the scar is quite bad. My ankle is the worst...I had two surgeries on my ankle (one of them an emergency surgery) and omigawd, even now (4 yrs later) I can't begin to tell you how terrible those scars are (both sides of my ankle). The scars from my lapband surgery are also not what you would expect. They are very red, large, raised and have widened. It actually looks like I have a couple of leeches on my stomach. They actually look worse now than they did right after they healed. But, I expected that. Dr. Y. had a medical word for it last week when I saw him (I forget the word)...describes people who heal/scar like that. He told me that if it bothered me, I could have cortisone shots in it to "shrink" it (no thanks!) and/or PS to fix the scars. HAHAHAHAHA...ummmm...no! All in all, FOR ME, PS is not something I have ever (or ever would) consider. For two reasons: I'm "ok" with the way I look and know I'll be "ok" with it as the weight comes off, I don't have any vanity issues, and I know that the scarring would likely be worse for me than average and so why trade one "problem" for another? "Fixing" the "outside" for health reasons is good, but too often people think that "fixing" the outside will "fix" them inside and it certainly won't. But, as I said....I don't judge...I only know what is good for me....everyone has to do what they think is right for them and works for them and what will make them happy. (I'm trying to be careful what I say because I don't want anyone who has had PS or who is considering it to take my words in the wrong way)....remember, this is my opinion as it relates to ME!

    Surgery Question ?

What Cloe said. Also useful is liquid gravol (children's because there is no adult here) and perhaps some GAS-X. You will be fine going to Egypt as long as you are careful what you eat and you DON'T get a fill before you go.

4 day post op 20 mins then chest pain

Sounds normal to me.....from my early post-op experience. To help with the "growlies" I sucked on several popsicles a day...it felt like I was "eating", it helped me get fluids in and there was some nutritional value as I used the delmonte juice ones.

    Jello - It's True

I think Jack invented Jello in 1958 and after all his "test runs" is likely just sick of it!
  12. Loriely: YAY....your ticker says you are half way!! WAY TO GO!!!! YOU are doing incredible! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: So is Mr Loriely. By the way, Mr Yoda just asked how come poor Mr Loriely doesn't have a ticker!!!????
  13. I changed my ticker.....I lost 6 lbs since last week (that's what hardly eating will do for you....I'm not happy about that part but I will take the loss!). So, that puts me past the halfway mark now...A huge milestone for me! I never thought I'd see the day! It took 9 months but I'm "halfway" now..... This last week has been tough; still experiencing some odd problems with the upchucks but I think maybe those are really the PBs everyone has talked about (?) and what I used to call pbs were merely just the "slimes". That's my take anyways. I know things settled down for a lot of you who had this problem so I'll wait for a while longer and see what happens. But hey.....OMIGAWD, I'm half way there...and ONEderland actually seems to be within a realistic reach now!!!!!!!!!!!!! EEEEEP!

    Surgery Question ?

Your best bet is to pose your question directly to the clinic.

How do u deal with stress??

Good luck Yasmina. Cloe....Cloe...Cloe...I am sending soooo many good vibes your way. I really don't have any advice and it sounds like you got some good words from Wheetsin (as usual!) and Bandiva. All I can say is feel what you are feeling, definitely TALK to someone (professionally or otherwise)...don't bottle it in and as hard as it is sometimes just take a step back and look at what you have already accomplished in your life (not just the weight loss)......you are a good person. I know what will help make you temporarily feel better....I'll pm you! Hugs...and thanks for sharing...it is good to do so. For what it is worth, I also have nooooo clue as to how to deal with stress and though everyone (work colleagues, family, friends) think I have it "so together" they are soooooooooooo wrong.....only Mr Yoda knows the true neurotic, OCD, stressed out freak that I am. But that is not advice...the way I hide it is NOT good. Just sharing so you know you aren't alone. *hugs for you*
