don't compare yourself sg!! You are doing great! It all counts. Two months....at 1 lb (ie. average) per week is 8 lbs and you are at 20.....don't sell yourself short!!!!

Mookie...they are in Mr Yoda's wallet! LOL -
Yeah Heather....... So once you are at goal, do you plan on getting a small de-fill and then just attempting to "maintain"? Do you have a plan for that?
-
I had to look back to see what my goal(s) were!!! I made one and missed one. 1. Get to where my ticker is no longer a lie.... ACCOMPLISHED!!!! 2. Stop being so dang hard on myself ......ummmmm, not quite accomplished! (but doin' better!).

...that she wore for the first time today... (yes Mandi...yes....you do amaze!) :huggie:

what are you trying to say Neenagh!! Don't beat around the bush!!! LOL -
hmmmmm I was not on the attack. yeeeesh. I too was exercising (elliptical and biking very very soon after surgery - since I was doing it prior to)....I was only answering Dame J's question and wanted to point out the difference of doing cardio with that of doing something that will involve a LOT of ab muscle work, such as Yoga!!!! The emphasis was on yoga because that was her original question. Don't take it so personally...it wasn't an attack.....(you'd KNOW if I was attacking you!!) (besides which I'm Canadian and don't do go on the offensive!). I know lots of ppl get up and get moving right after surgery (myself included) but I wanted to make sure she knew the difference between that and doing crunches (as an example!). Holy Moly.

That is so freakin' fabulous Mandi!~!~ Especially the last pic with your two jeans on!!! Man, if THAT isn't telling.....what is, eh?!!! Thanks for sharing! You looooook beeeeeeaaaautiful!!! :clap2:

welcome back Mookie....glad u are feeling better but it sucks you had that type of experience (ie. with the bronchitis). Take are of yourself and remember this is time for healing, not weight loss anyways....so don't even think about that! As for the pain meds....hmmmm....wow....does Dr. C's office only give codeine...? and for such a short time? Man, I got so much demerol, I still have a whole whack left despite taking it every day for several days (to pre-empt anything). Anyways....the surgery itself is over now....concentrate on healing....and only once you are healed, on the weight loss!

I didn't say mowing wasn't a good cardio workout....or strenuous....what I was alluding to is that the "MOVES" involved in yoga are very very different from pushing a mower (regardless of how strenuous it is)....in mowing you aren't pushing your body into weird shapes and doing the ab contours etc.....if you do yoga you would see what I mean....and if you do do yoga and you don't see the difference I question what type of yoga you are doing!

Update: today was a MUCH better day. So far I've been able to eat at every meal (the bandster portion as opposed to the baby sparrow portion) and no probems with upchucking!!!! *knock on wood* (*looks for Mandi's head*!). So, as long as I get thru this evening without any unsavoury events, I'll be a happy camper. I did talk to the clinic today and they said I may be a wee bit too tight (in lieu of the liquid coming up into my throat at night while sleeping)...but we decided I'd wait a week to see if it settles down. I can hack it if I know it might do so. So, all in all....a good day for this bandit....first good day since my last fill on 12 Jan. -
oh yes folks....get your tylenol ready for the headaches!!! I remember those days well. Thanks for the compliment Tres Chic....I remember all too well what it was like to be pre-op and it is nice to "give back". You will do so one day soon, too! Doriana....re. the weight gain....normal normal normal....don't forget your body will fluctuate a lot especially at the beginning as it gets "used" to things. How often are you weighing? I only weigh once a week and find that works much better for me than once a day.
-
Dame...ask your doctor what he/she recommends but I HIGHLY doubt he will say it is okay to do Yoga that soon after. I'd start thinking of your excuse now. As for the mowing and weedwacking...um.....that is WAY different from doing the yoga moves!! LOL.
-
Mr Yoda stayed there overnight when I had my surgery (I had to stay at the clinic overnight). He had no probs with it.
-
Andrew, you say that now...just wait till you taste all that bitter flavour!! UGH!!! I tried it....once... LOL....then decided that I deserved better!
-
yeah, when I told my parents (after I was banded because I didn't want them to worry on a month long trip to Europe they went on)....I gave her a video website to go to....to see the entire operation. It really helped explain it to her and helped her to accept, understand and support. (she lives several provinces away!).
-
Best of luck to all of you commencing your pre-op diets!! Remember, as Cloe said....tis only temporary!! The biggest thing for me: take it ONE day at a time (ONE MEAL at a time if you have to). I couldn't look at the big picture (2 weeks in my case) or I would lose it! That and also as cloe said, the anxiety of "screwing up" and then defeating the purpose of it for the surgery. You can DO IT!!! If we all did it, you can!!! Yup...reallllllly tough, but worth it in the long run!!! One day you will be here saying the same thing to someone about to start their pre-op diet! :gluck:
-
Hey Cloe....at the very least, hopefully your other kids are "learning" from this experience!

Here is the link for the Bandster Bash being held in May 07 in Mississauga (ie. Toronto). I know there is probably a lot of talk about it on that "other" Canadian band site (LOL) but I haven't seen any alluding to it here. So here ya go for those who are interested. I actually got the info and site from an Australian!! How ironic is that!
