One day I can eat and the next I can't :(
NanyC replied to tica's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This also happens to me. Met my mom for lunch today and ate about 5 little cooked carrots and had to go to the restroom - I knew it wasn't going to sit well. I have days no matter how slow I chew or how long I take, it just doesn't work. The weight is coming off very, very slow. I know I need to exercise it's just getting back in the routine. Hearing how everyone copes with the same situation helps though. My mom has been telling me that this isn't normal - that I need to have something done. I'll just keep going slow and taking it a day at a time. -
Sweet Spot or possibly too tight - that is the question

I had a fill yesterday and was ok - didn't eat much and stuck to soft food. Today I ate very little and tonight I ate about 4 bites of scrambled egg and ended up in the bathroom. It's terrible to be out with your mother and son and have to get her to stop the car in a parking lot because I was going to lose it and all that comes up is blob..... no food... I have never done this before. Maybe I was eating too fast. I try to stop and count - yes count because I eat way too fast. My ex-husband taught me that... I can't say that I am hungry - I just want food in my mouth - does that sound stupid??? it's like I'm missing the food. I"m supposed to have lunch with a girlfriend tomorrow and think I will stick to soup. Hopefully no more having to pull over after eating. Anyone else have that feeling? -
Rose, thanks for the encouragement. Yes, I am making good choices and logging my food. There were some days I overate so I went and got some sugar free candy and stick that in my mouth instead of food. I also walk 1 mile at work and then me and my son just started bike riding again. I can't complain - it took me a year to lose 20 pounds before so I am happy and I took measurements and am definitely losing inches. Just wish it would go faster - but I have to remember - there is no magic pill and it didn't go on overnight and won't come off overnight either. Thanks again!

I was banded on December 17th (close enough I figure) and have only lost 20 pounds so far. Made it to 24-25 but have gained back 4 lbs over the last 8 weeks. I had my first fill at 6 weeks and then another after 6 more weeks. I have now had to wait almost 10 weeks for a fill. I hate it - I am hungry morning, noon, and night. It seems that no matter how hard I try to keep track of what I eat and make good choices - I am overeating. I have called the office three times to try and get in earlier but no chance. She switched me from doing the fill by fluoroscopy to just doing it in her office. I don't know how I am going to approach this but I want her to do a much larger fill if I am going to have to wait that long in between. This is insane!

Anybody use a Weight/diet tracker App on their iphone or ipod touch?
NanyC replied to erock's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have an iphone and use Lose it! also. It's a great program and I don't have to wait until I get home to log into the internet to log my food. You can customize exercises and track your weight. It also have tons of food built into the program. Long lists of supermarket and restaurant food which makes it easy to keep track. And best of all - it's free! -
N E 1 been Banded at Mt. Carmel col, oh
NanyC replied to Lady Q T's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I look at your posts and can't wait to get to that point. I have reached the first 20 pounds and can't wait until the next 20 pounds is gone. -
I got my first fill today. 90% of my fat is in the stomach so it was hard for her to find the port. We did it using fluoroscopy and it still took over 30 minutes for her to find it. She ended up adding 3.5 cc so I hope it was worth it. I look like a pin cushion and am sore but I know that it is so worth it. I was down 15 lbs. on their scales and 20 on mine. Either way it's going down and that's what counts. I hope the next time it goes smoother and faster.

I was banded on 12/17 and am ready for a fill. The first couple of weeks were fine and I wasn't that hungry. Now I seem to be hungry all the time - stomach growling hungry. I walk a mile at work and then try to get another mile done in the evenings with my tapes. I am eating about 12-1500 calories per day (faithfully keeping track). I hope the fill curbs some of the growling. I wouldn't notice I was hungry until my stomach starts. It's funny - I don't think I heard my stomach growl for 10 years and now I hear it all the time. What a difference.

I have two sets of the "Walk Away the Pounds" videos. I like them because they are 1, 2, and 3 mile so depending on what you feel like doing, you can get a good workout. You can also use weights or not - depending on your mood. The tapes are good - but she talks A LOT! The one mile takes about 19 minutes, the 2 mile about 30 minutes. I do them when my kids go to bed...

"Program Fee" for new provider/bariatric program???
NanyC replied to PosyFossil's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my surgery done in Columbus OH and had to pay a $300 fee once I was accepted into the program and then another $200 for the nutrition visits. It's all part of their program so if I didn't want to pay, I would have had to find another program. I had my surgery done on the 17th. I loved my surgeon. Today I got on the scale and it said I am down 21 pounds. I have my first fill on the 3rd of February and can't wait. I wish I would have done this five years ago. -
I just got banded on Dec. 18th and it was the best decision I could have made. I have lost 15 lbs. which is fantastic. I am a person who has a terrible time at losing weight. I have had no side effects or anything. My first fill is on Feb. 3 and I am looking forward to that. I have moved up to soft food and don't feel like I'm on a diet - just have to retrain myself to eat slower and take little bites. It's amazing how full you get or how tired you get of chewing (LOL). Good luck on your journey.

I was told to be on full liquids which included cream soups if you blended them, so I had cream of mushroom, cream of potato, and cream of tomato. It was wonderful. Just make sure that you blend everything so there is nothing that can get stuck. Hope that helps!

Any December '08 Bandsters?
NanyC replied to Florida Pete's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my date last week - December 17th! I can't wait. I got all of my pre-admission testing done today along with the pre-op classes. I meet with the doctor on 16th. I know it's going to be work, but I know it will be worth it. I love reading the posts - they are all positive and it's great to see how well everyone is doing. -

that's just how they do it. They gave me a list of steps that I had to complete before submitting to insurance - cardiac clearance, psych eval, nutritionist. The only thing I can't get passed is the cardio and they are calling this week. She told me if they wouldn't agree to pay for it that he would want to "cath" me - I dont think so. I think I will just have to do without the surgery.

I have completed everything but the cardiac clearance. I can't get Aetna to approve it. They claim it's not necessary - I should say they won't pay for the chemical stress test and the doctor won't let me do a "regular" stress test. They said that it wasn't diagnostic. Has anyone else had this trouble. I am thinking that if I am having this much trouble getting this part approved - they are never going to approve the surgery... any suggestions???
