hi yes your mum can stay there as long as she wants by your bed..there is a canteen upstairs where she can get food which is ok-ish and cheap. there are some shops in vilvoorde..she can look round those for a bit of a break or walk through the park from hosp back to hotel..via shops. my husband walked into the pre op room with me and was back later at side of bed.no one asked him to leave and other peoples relatives or friends were there too..just have to leave for about 8 0r 9pm i think. take your mobile with you.you can use it on the ward.x -

well done all you new bandsters who just got back,by the sound of things, your doing fantastic!..somone asked about WLS a few of us on here use em for aftercare and fills and they are fantastic.you will find their website by just googling WLS the phone number and email address will be on there they are quick at getting back to you too . freckles i felt like you after fill before.i only had 5.25ml in and it took about 2 days to wear off abit, kept thinking i should have unfill as was worried but it wore off to aperfect sweet spot that lasted 2 more weeks, then started wearing off a bit, after 6 weeks had 0.25 put in and its not really made much difference..wierd isnt it!?.think the next fill will get me back there. hope it wears off a bit for you to get you to a nice place! fatpants..im fine thanks, hope you are too..my weights not shifting amazingly fast at the mo, but as long as few pounds a month coming off and i dont put em back on..thats fine with me...i still love my chocolate, maybe that is why its slower! im not fretting over it, im just going with the flow and pleased at any loss..i have only lost just over 2 stone at the mo (inc few pounds pre op).it seems like this is the norm tho, and most people slow down after first month. jackie, im really pleased you have got the go ahead as long as you lose weight..its only for your own safety, but hope you have got rid of all that naughty food stuff you bought when depressed other day!! we all know what its like this eating when your happy, and eating when your sad!..were all hoping you can manage to lose good amount and i hope you have an uderstanding doc who can help you with xenical (double strength Alli...dont go far from a toilet!)or some other pills, if they are suitable..you have all us willing you on anyway..good luck! x -

hi jackie to private message someone..click on there user name to the left in the blue shaded bit..it will then give you that option. i do feel for you..i prob would have gone and bought the whole deli if id have got turned down..dont give up though, do what mmm said and take printout of dr chris letter to your doc..and really lay it on!..isnt it terrible that the same nhs team will do it for you for 7.5k privatly!!..its all about money..but you will be saving the nhs thousands cos the things that come with obesity..ie diabetes will end up costing the nhs in treatment. it was on tv that a gastric band costs the same as a year of treatment for diabetes.....one day they may realise?! its preventative surgery!... good luck, dont give up...fight for it...you can do it, we believe in you!!..x -

hi mandy..you only have to have a small amount took out of your band before you fly, not all of it..it is only neeeded for flights of 4 hours or more.as you will just have had one or two fills then you wont have a great amount of pressure in there at any rate..so you may be ok without an unfill.im going away last day of sept, so will take advice on what wendy wants me to do..my flight is prob just under 4 hours. x -

oh no Jackie, thats bad, when you had set your heart on it too..but it does show that Dr Chris is proffessional and is not in it just for the money, there is a reason for it.. what about trying cambridge diet, or lighter life?..you can lose very quickly on them if your determined..i used the cambridge diet and lost about 10lbs in first week...is there anything your doctor can give you to help you?..wishing you all the best anyway..you must be feeling so disappointed now..keep us posted on your progress. what have you got to get your BMI to for the op to be safe, and what is it now? x -

i am expecting to get some of the horrible tightness tomorrow as i did with my last .25ml fill. im not gonna panic tho, ill just go carefully for few days..it will pass. not gonna have smoothie again tho, its too gloopy straight after..i will stick to easy to go down liquids and hopefully start losing another few more pounds. hope you have good time at your inlaws if you do go!. you could just tell em your on a diet in advance?.were never invited to our inlaws just down the road so havent told them. i dont want them to know either..they would think it a waste of money, and i just should have dieted..i may tell em eventually or it might leak out about it.the kids might tell em! x -

hi mmm.we went to see wendy today. i asked for the tiniest amount put in..so got 0.25 taking me to 5.5ml i think. water after wentdown well and drinking cuppa soup and frothy coffee now, which is also fine. thats what it was like after last fill tho..but i really felt it the next day. so i cant really say til then..i will report again in the morning! bigsister had 0.50 in taking her to 6ml i think. .anyway, enjoy your show this weekend..free everything too!..shame you cant take advantage of the free food much! x -

:mad2: sammy, i hope its calmed down a bit now?..follow wendys advice..i know i was fine swallowing the water after last fill and was ok with drinks etc and thought it hadnt made much difference till the next morning when after cup of tea in bed..i tried to get a smoothie down, and i panicked, as it wasnt going down..my mouth was watering and you think you cant breathe with a brick in your chest!..it is bit scary.. so that day it was just liquids, and slimfast shakes..tried soup at night and only had about third of a bowl..i lost more that week than any time..so bet you do too..bet your bit nervous of your next fill now..i was and didnt have one at next appointment, and im even bit nervous having one today..6 weeks on..ill ask for least they can, rather than it be overfill as at this stage even the tiniest amount can make big difference...ill report back anyway! x -

Hi homecare..hope you get your money together and can get an appointment in july..i didnt get the last thousand together til about 2 days before i left!..but i would have begged stole and borrowed to get it. it was all i could focus on. depending on your job, you could say have 2 or 3 days off then have a tummy bug for a few more days like sammy said?. or like me who has lifting etc.. i said id got an hospital appointment one day, then the week after said id got a date for the hernia op (the scars and recovery would be the same ish) tell em its the day before (for travel) and then you would only be having few more days off after..then when they see your dressings and scars etc, tell em you have to take it easy.i got a doctors note, and my sister did too for 2 weeks off if i needed.(she just put operation in the reason bit) it was easy to get away with!. isnt it awfull that we have to lie!. good luck anyway x -

i know what you mean..the thin people think that all you need to do is go on a diet!!!..like big sister said before....oh my god!!, i never thought of doing that!!!..they have no idea, and would be watching your back all the time..i feel i have that now in the school playground with the other mothers who it got leaked to! i can feel the eyes on me..they think its not working, but it is, slowly and steadily, and i will show them!. like others who dont understand they think its cheating and you will be a size zero a month after op. well it isnt cheating, you are still on a diet but its like a forced diet that you will stick to and wont pile all the weight back on. its not an overnight miracle.. and if it was just as easy as 'just go on a diet' we wouldnt be spending so much and putting ourselves thro an op and discomfort..weve all been thro this and say...you go for it jackie and good luck! x
