Bigsister has found out about somewhere where you can get medical travel insurance..Im gonna go for that for myself as our normal insurance wont cover us for anything if they know weve been for surgery abroad..think she said her online quote was about £28? ..Ill let you know. Im bit worried today as the pound is on par with the euro today..making what started out as a 3k op...now a 4K op..hubby got not much work on..and my hours cut at work straight after xmas. if i had to cancel, Id just die. its my focus at the moment..gonna have to sell the family hierlooms on ebay!(if i had any)..whatever..owt to get there..I will have to do it now, Ill be paying for it for years to come, but hopefully happy to pay for it cos ill see i got my moneysworth...so feeling guilty and selfish today..I will put lottery on for tomorrow..you never know, even a tenner would help! -

HI mmm!..like your name!..reminds me of chocolate! mmm!..no gillian stop it!...no more talk of chocolate.(im getting as much in as i can before band though!) anyway welcome to the forum!..you have had great experience already of your daughter having this op..I hope it has worked well for her?!..I thought about the balloon too but found out it can only be in for 6 months (is that right?)..I have dieted myself for 6 months and kept it off loads of times, and then i just get back into my old ways and pile it on..plus another stone!..decided the band would be more suitable for me..Chris is GMC registered and i have heard that he is the second busiest gastric band surgeons in the world and certainly one of the most experienced. I was also told that the first band was invented in belgium..and their surgeons trained ours in the UK anyway. In UK it would have cost me 8K..in Belgium 3K. I am happy with the research i have done anyway, and the amount of success stories on this forum made my mind up..It would be scary for me going I think if I wasnt getting support from this forum! Its great! I feel very guilty at times as we cant really afford the surgery esp at the moment with work being thin.. and I am getting a loan(well abig overdraft arrangement actually!)..I have saved up half the cost with items i have sold on ebay over about 3 years..I have a tummy account that i transfer paypal payments to! This is just something that I have got to do for myself..I keep saying to myself that I dont smoke or drink much..I deserve summat for me! (oops.except that chocolate addiction i have!) anyway, I read this forum and the other..youll find link at bottom of page (Dr christian de bruyne) back to front before i nervously made my decision..hope you find it usefull too in making a decision..Gillian x -
ALCOHOL!!..yes you can still have it but think it will affect you more quickly..just like when you drink on an empty stomach suppose?..but a woman i work with who was banded in july, still drinks her gin and tonics but slower and she stirs it around with a straw and adds a little pich of sugar from a sachet in her bag....as fizzy drinks can repeat like mad and hurt a bit as they go down..if you like wine and spirits your fine..just watch the fizzy drinks she reckons!..I shall test this theory out well after i have been banded myself, and report back my findings...all in the name of research obviously! x

Im sure youll find someone who is going same day..he seems to do 3 or 4 a day i think..just keep asking on this forum and on the other thread....(anyone know of dr de bruyne chris)..youll find link to it at bottom of this page if you not been on it allready. tell me when you book and when for when you do wont you?..Ill look out for someone going at same time then x
