yes, fatpants, i am just gonna try em..i will soon find out wont i!..gonna chew em well and savour em! ill let you know...i did try a little bit of well done toast with beans this morning..the beans went down well, but even though it says you can have dry or stale(yak) bread,or toast in the instructions...the toast still hurt, mind you it was a thick almost doorstep slice i cut for myself!..i think its the end of me eating bread!..gillian x -

yes yes yes!!!!!!..i am craving chocolate like mad as i did before band...i have been having a hot chocolate drink at night which does help...but chocolate does go down very easily!..so you have to be strict with yourself still!.i have just had oxtail soup which was crap..i looked on tin (heinz) and it was full of carrots..and down the list of ingredients at the bottom it says..oxtail 1%...!!..whats that all about then!? it was horrible..also tried a bit of french bread...and it tells you in your band instructions not to...and it nearly killed me, it got so stuck!..that will teach me! I am now craving king prawns..so would appreciate it if any older bandster has tried these?..i get fresh ones from fishmonger that are grey and grill em..any tips before i just go out and buy some anyway ...(then ill find out!) -

hi tanyac..nice to hear from you again!..yes were back and it went fine..it is not completely painless, the first day you wonder why you had it done!..the hospital and staff are fantastic, no worries there at all. im still having bit of jip with my stitches, but bigsister and wishfull are doing ok with theirs..its just me, but i have been fiddling with em!..we all lost around a stone in the first week then came to a standstill...so that must be normal!..not having a fill til march..we have some restriction and are just experimenting with solids now and finding out what goes down well and what gets stuck and hurts..so i dont feel ready for a fill yet even though it was suggested we went mid feb..we all feel that would be too early for us..its still tender around the port stitches, and i wouldnt let anyone near it until its completely healed, which i hope is very soon. im a bit scared of needles and having the fill makes me feel very nervous,so im in no rush cos of that either!..it cant be that bad cos people are going back for more!...im planning it on being over 18 months to 2 years to get my weight off,esp if im scared of fills!.good luck in your saving up!..i am now trying to pay back all the money i borrowed to have it done!.gillian x -

hi and welcome fatpants!..the cost was 3950euros with bridget from europesurgery.com..we were done just over 2 weeks ago..but frederick(dr chris assistant) does a package for i think 4070euros it includes your op, all taxis and accommadation for you and an accompanying partner..it is a good deal..although frederick seems a little slow on the communication, and it seems like some people worry if it is all in place, but i have not known anyone say that it hasnt. communication is a bit sparse though. the hospitals,dr chris and all the staff are excellent, so no worries there. hope this helps you with your decision. gillian x -

Happy birthday for last thursday mooster!!.i must admit i did try a couple of thorntons yesterday and they went down lovely...naughty i know, thats prob why my weight is now at a complete standstill!..hows your weight going since you were banded?..also, wanted to ask you just how long you get jip with these stitches, they are still really tight and it hurts to bend down.i have got to go back to work tomorrow and there is lots of heavy lifting and bending..I have already been off 2 weeks and not got paid, cos they dont have to,with or without a docs note...so i have to, not looking forward to it but cant let the girls down who are doing extra to cover for me...aarrgh!..i need to win the lottery!..even a tenner would do! -

hi TC. i changed my dressings after about third day..i wiped the insisions with some water that had been boiled and put a pinch of salt in it.if you just get some dressings that have a border round them so nothing can get under it like with a normal plaster..you dont need big ones..and dont go for any special ones, just boots or superdrugs own brand..you can have a bath when your blue stitch is taken out...and it feels lovely to have a bath too, it makes stitches feel and look better, i laid on my side in nice deep bath.there is no need to put plasters back on then unless they are bleeding or weeping, which they shouldnt be by then.Gillian x -

LOL! Hi, van der TC..yes it was the first sighting i had of chris, and he said that,he was sorry and it shouldnt happen like that, but i was thought to be flemish and had had my prep talk already..fred was at the side of him in the operating theatre, and within minutes of first meeting chris, and signing a form, he was cutting me open! it seemed surreal!. it all went well though, and the care in the recovery room was good, i was attatched to things and was asked if i was in pain regularly(which i wasnt),and if i was ok, there were plenty of staff everywhere, more than ive seen in hospitals over here. you were just a lucky one going first without your van der name! -
