  1. I had the same problem but was informed by the docs that this is completely normal and like mentioned above, the period pre-fill is for healing...if you loose during that time its a bonus.

    Would you do it again?

Without a doubt! While I am not feeling most of the benefits yet (even after 50Lbs) I do get lots of remarks about how good I look, and clothes are definitely loose. The pain was minor compared to the pleasure it will bring in the future.
  3. Well, I just wanted to introduce myself to my bretheren who are getting baned on the 21st. I can't believe its only a couple days away and I stuck to the no solids diet...man I could use some taco bell or a burger :huh2: Anyway...good luck to all, we will make it through this!

I just wanted to see how everyone is doing...so far I am very happy with my results, have some minor discomfort where the port is installed and had my first fill this week which was relatively painfree.

I intentionally didnt go back to work, just to allow myself time to heal. I am going for my first post surgery appt. on Thursday but to be honest, I am starting to get hungry...the docs said I may be moved off of the liquid only diet quicker than the 2 weeks recomended.

I am eating soups (sans chunks) but doubt I am getting the protein I need since I am unable to swallow due to my complications. That is getting better slowly, so maybe I will TRY one today and see what happens. I hope I am not doing this all wrong...

    January 21st Banders

I am home as well. I had a bit of an issue however. My Anesthesiologist couldnt get the tube down my esophogus and continued to shove the tube town about 5 or 6 times, ramming it down my throat. My surgeon told me that after I reported that I couldnt swallow my own saliva. They convincced them to give me a medical grade bottle of Cetacaine for the pain and said that would get better in about 3 days...till then, drinking is going slow...no idea how I will down 64oz a day. As for the band incisions, no problem at all, very little pain, and NO gas pain. Asside from the lousy tube issue (not my surgeons fault) I am pleased so far.

    January 21st Banders

Welcome all! I have to say, that I thought this would be harder (its not easy, just not as hard as I expected.) I fully expected to be cranky, dizzy, headachy (I do get some headaches due to no caffine) and hungry all of the time. I find the protein shakes do a pretty good job of filling me up...which honestly worries me a bit...I feel like I may not be doing this right. I guess we will find out in 2 days, but for now, I will keep following the guidelines set out for me by the docs office. I won't lie, I cheated a TINY bit...I ate some olives, not to fill me up but for the texture I think. It has stopped and I wont eat any more, but I do feel bad about it.
  10. I will have to try it. The UnJury chicken soup one is alright, just make sure you follow the directions and do not add hot water...definitely messes up the texture a bit. I added a bit of cumin to it and it made it tolerable for dinner. I wish I had the diets some of the others have on here, seems like heaven right now. Day 2 starts...
  11. Ok, so I know its not the best option, but I am going to try the EAS Myoplex tomorrow...there HAS to be one that tastes relatively good out there. If not I will go insane! I keep trying to tell myself this is worth it, and I have done really well today, but the headache and the bad taste in my mouth is making me wonder...
  12. Oh, that would make them even worse!!! I can tell you the "Worldwide Pure Protein Shakes" were just aweful as well...I suppose the shake was alright, it just tasted like metal. On to the next option.

    Catheter for guys??

Good news, my doc told me no Cath needed...I am stoked!
  14. I tried the unjury today and I have to tell you, not a fan. Are you guys using Skim , 1%, 2% or whole milk for your mixes? I looked it up and Skim has more carbs than the whole milk...1g per serving...not much, but I imagine it would taste better with the whole anyway. I went to trader joes and bought some "Worldwide Pure Protein Shakes" today...lets see if they are any better...I need to get through this week.

I started pre-op diet today and am drinking my first protein shake as we speak...gotta tell you, smells and tastes, well, not so good. 1 week till surgery!
  16. So, I wanted to first say hello to all. I am a 29 year old male with the need for the lapband or something drastic to help remedy my many medical issues. I have GURD, Gout, Back, Shoulder, Neck pain, Arthritis, sleep Apnea, Asthma, Chronic Bronchitis, and am HypoGlycemic. I have tried Weight Watchers among many other diets with limited or no success. After attending the seminar, I feel possitive that this is the right direction for me. I have been doing my research on it for several years, and this just feels like the right thing to do. For someone my age, I should not have this many issues, but I do. I am looking forward to starting my journy. I have one question...how hard were the first 4 weeks after the procedure? The liquid diet seems to be fairly rough. Thank you all in advance, and I look forward to many conversations with you all.
  17. Started Pre-op diet today...I hate protein shakes, smell like hell.

Go to: Weight Loss - Diet Ticker It is fairly self explainitory from there. Choose your bar, choose your indicator, sign up for your account and they will give you what you need to put into your signature

    Catheter for guys??

I understand why you would be concerned. I was asked to watch a video about the procedure and one of the steps mentioned in the video was the Cathater. I am terrified as both my Gpa and Father had one during their surgeries for other issues and now have to see urologists several times a year to be re-cathaterized due to too much scar tissue harming them...I will be HOPING my Dr. wont do that to me during mine.

January 21st, or is it the 23rd...one of the two at Reston Hospital in Reston VA. Looking forward to it but frightened of the diet...will be worth it in the end.
  21. Its official, insurance has approved me for the procedure. I am looking to mid January for the procedure. The nerves just set in.
  22. Well, I went for my consultation and other than having to switch one of my meds, I am listed as a prime candidate! Now we wait for insurance...
  23. Hah, I hope you are right...would certainly be nice to have that support system in place right now though. I suppose thats why you guys are here!
  24. I am looking forward to being in the elite club! On a completely side note, talk about bad timing...my wife left me...not helping with the self esteem issues...I suppose I will have to end up looking good and making her jealous!
  25. Yes, it does sound very difficult, but nothing I am not willing to attempt. With all of the issues I currently have, if it solves just 1 or 2, it will be well worth the efforts made.
