Hi I too am feeling like I am losing slowly. My mom keeps asking me why I am not losing weight, but I have lost. I was 239 before pre-op diet, then I was 126 pre-op and now I am 212. My surgery was on June 2, 2014. When I was banded I started at 280 that was in 2009. I weighed my lowest two years ago after my knee surgery which was 185, I had problems with my band and as you see I was back up to 239 at the time of my decision for the revision. I think as previous band patients we lose bulk of our weight then so when we have a revision it seems to move a lot slower. I feel somewhat discourage but I know what I have to do to make this tool work for me. I afraid of going to work next week and getting all my Protein in as well as eating relaxed and well. good luck

Hi all, So I am 3 weeks out and I was having good restriction at first. I am now on pureed foods and I was doing well with them up until Sat. On Sat I went to a Funeral and at the repast I , who was now starving ate a little tuna salad along with mac&cheese, which was soft. I only ate a little but I must of eaten fast because I was a little over full. Now my DR's plan is to due pourable Protein at this stage, now I am wondering if my increase in hunger is more than just head hunger but more of a craving for carbs, due to the mac&cheese. And yes I brought my plate home and put it in a blender later. So today for Breakfast I had about 1 1/2 oz of cottage cheese about 9am, at 11am I was very hungry again. Any insight or am I just healing and can eat more in small meals. I afraid to eat too much in one setting. Thanks

@lindafromflorida I did eat something a little yogurt but just a little because I wasn't hungry that is why I believed that I am not experiencing carb craving along with head hunger. I will be working harder on making sure that I don't be put in that situation again. This being the summer there will be many parties I will be invited to also I am planning to go on vacation!!!! So I plan to have my meals laid out ahead of time any follow my plan.

@ maxcimax I know i need to do more of a food diary, so I will be working on that. I also now believe that I was ovulating, which I can not know due to a hysterectomy that cause my increased hunger. I more worry when I go back to work, I will be at the desk and stressed all day. I use to not be a stress eater until this year or maybe I just didn't notice until then. Overall I am going to work my program and it will work for me

congrats on your surgery. Hang in there your incisions will not hurt for long. Mine were not bad after a week but your stomach muscles may hurt from movement up to about 10 days, but everyone is different. Stay hydrated and keep your mind free. Good Luck

I too thought it was just me, now being almost 20 days post op it has gotten better. It is really bad when you first come home and you're on Clear liquids. It just seems that there are more than before your surgery. Not to mention that you are recuperating and all you are doing is watching TV. Hang in there it gets better

Crushing pills or swallowing pills
BLAKQUEEN replied to jackie_2's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
my doc told me to crush my meds also. My surgery was on June 2nd and I am still crushing my meds. Now I do take a lot on Fridays, meaning that on that day I take one med that is six pills at once. I don't have a problem but with one med, it is absolutely nasty, no way can I take it crushed so I break it and deal. I scared to take pill yet I think I will be brave at 30 days post op -
I was sleeved on June 2nd my Dr. had me doing clear liquids for a week, then full liquids on June 11 for a week and now since June 17 pureed Protein that is mostly liquid for two weeks. after that I can add fruit with it for another week. that is when I can move to soft food. So I pretty much have been eating mushy to liquid with chunks. I find that I have a problem with gas and diarrhea for the past 3 days. I contribute this to the hummus that I mixed with my fish to get more protein. I also have put 1% milk in my eggs and some of my food instead of the almond milk I had been using. I am lac intolerant, but I can eat some milk products. It could be that along with the whey it is too much!!. I really believe that because I am eating more regular food products my system is rebelling.

We all have fears close to the surgery date, I too had my revision on June2nd and there were some issues in the operating room due to scar tissue but it worked out and I was able to be sleeved. My surgeon did informed me that if there were issues due to scar tissue I may have to just get the band out and then wait for my stomach to heal before doing the sleeve. I will keep you in my prayers Good Luck

I did drink it pre op but haven't tried it since surgery due to its low Protein count. But whatever you can drink to get it in do it. because I now have a problem with my much loved Cookies n cream GNC powder. I really like OH YEAH which had a good source of protein, but have not tried them since surgery hopefully I can drink them. Good Luck

Stall @ week 3? Seems to soon for that?
BLAKQUEEN replied to TaylorR's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow I too have hit a wall, I am 16 days post op and I haven't lost weight in about a week. My mother is concerned she thinks I lost more when I was first banded and now that I am sleeved she is looking for the same results. I know I am not getting enough calories. I only can get about 16 oz of Protein shakes a day and I now know I can not tolerate the cookie n cream GNC Protein powder, first thinking it was the way I prepared it, then I make a different shake and still it make me nauseous. So the vanilla powder recipes it is for now. -
Sorry for your pain, hopefully it will get better. I am 16 days post op and I also have discoid lupus and RA, I only have felt a little nauseous and not every day. I have learn that there are some Protein powders I can tolerate. I used to be able to drink GNC's Cookies n cream, now it just makes me sick. hang in there!!!! good luck

My FOOD ADDICTION! I want REAL FOOD!
BLAKQUEEN replied to Gr8fulMiniMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I am 11 days out and although I am not a food addict I do understand how you feel. I read some articles on head hunger and that helped, I really wasn't that hungry but the clear liquid stage was really really hard. I am at my mom's house and she has all my favorite foods in the fig and cabinets, but the kicker is all the food commercials they really drive me crazy. I could not wait for full liquids because you can eat Soup and yogurt. Hang in there it gets better remember what you did this for, drinking something usually gets rit of that hunger feeling. good luck -
6 Days Post-OP - My surgery experience...
BLAKQUEEN replied to jrsygrl007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on June 2nd and my post op visit today. So I am 9 days out, I had a hard time in the hospital with dehydration and had to stay an extra day in the hospital. I was up and walking the day of the surgery but the next day when they took out the catheter so I can urinate on my own, I just could not go. My blood presser when down to 87/54 and my oxygen level dropped so I had to where oxygen thus walking with Iv and oxygen tank. all this delayed my GI test to make sure everything was okay and I could start drinking Water. I was given extra Fluid and started feeling better but it took a while. I finally went down for my test and was able to drink, thank God my mouth felt like cotton it was crazy horrible. I finally left the hospital and was in so much pain from the bumpy ride to mom's. I am so glad that clear liquid stage is over, how much water, crystal light. broth and tea can you drink. I too felt hunger pains, but they were light and went away when I drank especially the broth. My blood pressure was high today at doctors and I explained that I haven't been taking my pressure meds because they have a diuretic attached to it and I was afraid of becoming dehydrated again my surgeon prescribed a med without the diuretic. I was so happy to be able to eat Soup and to drink a Protein shake that I immediatly opened my broc and cheese soup place it with so almond milk in the nutribullet, blend, heat and was in haven. The thought of having something thicker than water made me satisfied. I waited to see if I could tolerate it before I made a Protein Shake, which i used a recipe from a book on good Protein shakes for an eggnog protein shake which was really good but i did take long time drinking it because it was 16oz instead of 8oz due to the ice I put in. The book I have is "The Bariatric Foodie Guide to the Perfect Protein Shakes" my Nikki Massie, she also has a blog "Bariatricfoodie.com where she has many recipes for different stages and well as other tips for WLS patients. We will see what I can get down tomorrow, looking forward to puree stage. -

How much time off work, desk job
BLAKQUEEN replied to Sherra O.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been told by my doctor 4 wk. I also work a desk job, but a stressful one, so I plan to take all of the 4. I had my surgery on June 2 and I have had bouts of pain and tiredness. I also have pain to sitting at a desk for hours typing. So take at lease 2 weeks off, you need time for your body to heal and get use to new diet. -
I'm 5 days out and my doctor and Nut has given me a diet of clear liquid for one week and only advance after my one week doctor's appt. Then I would advance to full liquids. So I try to sip liquids all day and next week I will advance to protien shakes. Hopefully it will not cause a problem. this program is set up so that your pouch can heal. Good Luck

Band to sleeve revision question
BLAKQUEEN replied to MzDimplezNYC's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
@ MzDimpleszNYC I did't have to wait long. in all it took only a month maybe six weeks, but it all depends on your insurance and doctor's office as far as nutrition class -
I had my surgery on June 2nd, I had a lot of scar tissue around the port of my band. my surgeon had a hard time getting my stomach to lay flat to to the sleeve but he was able to do it. lots of pain in hospital had to stay an extra day do to dehydration and I just could not urinate on my own. came home yesterday tired, pain mainly where the scar tissue was. using my sore abdominal muscles to get on and off bed, but doing ok need to get 4-6 oz of Fluid in every hour and my pain meds sucks
