I can practically eat my weight in popcorn !! Very well chewed of course! When I go to the movies I get the smallest bag, the junior I believe it is called. I also make sure that I eat one piece at a time. This helps me remember to chew well. I agree with Kiz, I would just try a few pieces at first and see how that goes. Good luck!

I am three months post-op and do not plan of getting a fill anytime soon. I am averaging 1-2 lbs of weight loss a week, and just think why should I get a fill? My plan is to schedule a fill when I do not lose weight for at least two weeks in a row. Though I am hoping that I can get to goal without getting a fill at all. I know I am relatively new to this, and this is probably not reality for most. Has anyone out there reached goal, or darn near, without having any fills?

Welcome! This is a great place to learn lots about lapband. I actually joined two months before I had surgery, for the same reasons you are here....to get information and support. I spent a long time just looking at different posts and the comments that people make, and learned a lot! Welcome, and good luck with your journey!

The tattoo I am getting will be in white ink, so no one will be able to see it unless they are very close to me and really looking. I am not getting a tattoo to make a statement, I am getting one to Celebrate my success....this is still a long time in coming, I have a LONG way to go....but I will get there !!! I work in Higher Education, I cannot have a visible tattoo, and even if I were not in the education field I still would not get a tattoo that could not be covered up in some way.

I completely agree. I would NEVER tell someone on the street what I was planning to do when I reached my weight loss goal. This particular thread was about that though, the OP asked what every one was planning to do. There are definitely posts on this site that I do not agree with, as I am sure this specific poster did not agree, but I would NEVER comment on them! Believe me, I am taking this all with a grain of salt On a side note Jachut, I really enjoy reading your posts. You and some of the other veterans are very inspirational.

I am now kind of finding it comical! KIND OF

Case in point.... I posted on another thread. The OP was asking what everyone wanted to do when they reached goal. I made the statement that I want to get my first tattoo. I want to get a white tattoo on the inside of my left wrist. One word, something inspirational, but I am not sure of the word yet. Anywho, someone commented that you should not get a tattoo in her opinion they were, and I am quoting here, "Trashy and Gross." SERIOUSLY!!! I know she probably does not realize that what she said was a bit offensive....but that is just an example of something that is just SOOO not called for!! Good thing I am not taking these comments too personally !!!!

How do you know when you have eaten enough?
wstorms replied to nikki914's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like MANY others I too am still trying to learn the signs my body is sending me . Lately it has been burping. I find that when I am eating, the first time I burp that is my bodies signal that I have had enough. I don't know why, but if I continue on after that I start to feel VERY uncomfortable! -
Congrats on the huge loss!!! That is awesome. I am going to get a white tattoo on the inside of my left wrist. It will be a word, just not sure what word yet. A one word statement that will remind me of the long, hard, but successful road I have taken .

lose2regaineme, WOWZA!!! Just hope you realize that you suggested in your post that I am "trashy and gross." FYI....I am NEITHER!!! Good thing I do not take these posts too personally !!!!

WOW.....Congrats, that is awesome! When I reach goal I am getting a tattoo! I currently do not have any, but am going to get one to mark my success! Funny but I have several people that are willing to go with me and get one as well !

I agree, you have to take the good with the bad! Though sometimes it is really hard to ignore the mean comments. Did you see the movie Pretty Woman? Richard Gere tells Julia Roberts that she can be so much more, and she said sometimes you only remember the bad that people say....paraphrasing here of course because I have not seen the movie in a while . I try to stay very positive, and I have a great support group to help me with that, but it is just human nature to get bummed sometimes....and granted comments should not be taken personally, but sometimes you can't help but to take them that very way! All is good, I am on a journey that I REFUSE to let anyones comments effect.

Tracy, I have been a member of this forum for about five months now. For a long time I just read posts because I was trying to get as much information as possible about my band. I would comment on a post from time to time. I just recently really started participating in discussions. When I signed up I was looking for help as well, and feel that I have gotten it. I find the site to be very informative, minus a few negative responders . I have never been a very big blogger, and really look at this site as informational only. There are people I see post that I greatly appreciate what they say, and look forward to reading their comments! Though I also realize this is a cyber forum, and being that it is I do not expect too much emotional support. I have real world family and friends for that, but that is just my way of thinking. There are definitely people that keep up with each other on this site, that is how it works. If I were you I would search for a group that had/will have their surgery the same time as you. That will give you a good start to the online support group you might be looking for. Good luck with your journey!!!

I watch my Protein intake AND take Biotin each day. I have thin hair so I wanted to make sure I did not lose too much. So I started the Biotin ASAP after banding. I have lost very little hair, and would even dare to say it is the normal hair loss that you are supposed to have each day. I have several friends that have had bariatric surgery and those that experienced hair loss, it was only temporary and it all grew back.

For me when I switched stages I always had a slowing of weight loss. This only lasted about a week and then the weight started dropping again. I know that everyone is different, but it seems this happens to a lot of people when going from stage to stage. Though I did eat a lot of FF Refried Beans with salsa. I am used to eating a lot of Mexican food, and that really satisfied that need :cursing:.

Thank you for all of your posts! I am glad to know there is a possibility of this. I know there are probably very few that have reached goal without a fill, but at least I now know it is possible :cursing:! Now..... if I need a fill, by all means I will get a fill . I am a self-pay, and believe me I did not pay all of this money to not do what is needed to reach my goal. Thanks again to all, and keep up the great work!!!

Just for me personally, if I eat below 1000 calories my weight loss slows down considerably. When I eat about 1200 calories I lose faster. That is just me, I KNOW EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. I feel that with less than 1000 calories my body goes into starvation mode which in turn makes it hold onto the weight. IMO, you have to learn your body and what works best for it....as well as follow your doctors instructions. What would it hurt to play around a little with your calorie intake to see what is right for you? Now in saying that I in no way mean to go eat 3000 calories!!!

Question about port..
wstorms replied to Thegirlnextdoor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just love reading everyones posts, I always learn so much from them. I am 3 months postop and freaked out the other day because I could not really feel my port. So what did I do? What I always do, I look on this site for answers :cursing:. Turns out my port is now above my scar line, where as before it was right under it. I read one post that said the loss of weight makes the skin sag....seeing some of that now (ARGGG)...and sure enough I can feel my port about an inch and a half above my scar line. I could see why losing weight would shift things around! -
Thank you so much for your post. That is the kind of information I was looking for :cursing:!!!!
