I'm at the gym every day for two hours. (EEK!) I'm up at the buttcrack of dark, and it's two hours from the time I get there until I walk out to the car. I do thirty minutes on the treadmill, twenty minutes on the seated elliptical, twenty minutes on the stationary bike, ten minutes on the arm bike, and the rest of the time I'm on the abs machine, arm machine, and leg press. Part of this is the therapy I'm supposed to do as a result of being broadsided by someone who ran a red light. I go as fast as I can as much as my injuries will allow. Do any of you feel like we have to exercise twice as hard to loose a little bit of weight because our metabolisms are so messed up from yo-yo dieting? I would LOVE to be one of those people who only spend thrity minutes every other day at the gym and drop 80 pounds in a month.

OMG, I thought I was the only one having problems! I feel like a lapband failure. I got the band in February of 2009. I was doing great, the weight was falling off until my third fill after surgery. I couldn't keep down scrambled eggs. I've tightened/loosened/tightened, and I just can't find that sweet spot. The nutritonist says that I need to get at least 8 hours of sleep, but I have horrible insomnia. So I take OTC sleeping pills to try and sleep, and when I finally get into a decent sleep, I wake up gasping, coughing, stuff coming out of my nose, sometimes running to the bathroom to throw up. I gain weight every time we loosen me, so I don't want to get anything taken out this time. I am SOOOOOO frustrated, I can't begin to tell you. If I eat out, I don't have this problem - I watch what I'm eating, I don't finish the meal, but I don't have sleep problems. Only when I cook for myself. All I can eat right now is calorie countdown milk (1 cup) with Carnation sugar free instant breakfast, 1 chicken thigh and broccoli (both boiled), and a hamburger (hamburger pattie, whole wheat bun toasted really dry, 1 slice of cheese (thin sliced, 40 calories). I don't know what to do. My doctor told me when I first went for my consultation that there is a 30% failure rate, and I think I'm in that 30%. This was the last resort.

Feeling discouraged and disappointed. :-( So far I've lost half of the weight I need to loose (75 pounds), but it seems that I can't find my sweet spot. It is litterally Feast or Famine. I was having problems with a too-tight fill (PB, refulx, things getting stuck) so they let some out and now I think I'm too loose (getting hungry between meals and eating things that shouldn't be able to get through). I think I could get my sweet spot if they could put in thismuch, but how do you measure thismuch ? I'ved hit a brick wall, and feel like I'm never going to loose this weight. I was hoping to be at goal weight or pretty darn close by now, and now.... Maybe I'm just not meant to be thin. Maybe this is as good as it gets. My next fill is next week. I don't know...

I don't mean to be indelicate, but I'm finally confortable enough to go shopping for unmentionables. I'm shopping on line. I'm finally in ONEderland in the 190's (YAY ME!), but I'm finding now that plus sizes are getting too big, but I can't fit regular people sizes in underwear. (For example, I'm a 38 D now, but all the bras I've been seeing are 40's & up and are DDs) What's a girl to do? Being between sizes is great, but not when you need underwear!
-
Well, it took me 8 hours, but I think I found some nice "unmentionables" that'll do for a while and start making me feel like a human again instead of a blob. YAY!

I did! Thank you!!!:biggrin::w00t:

Am I too late to join? I'd like to be a part of this. Pweeze, pweeze, pweeze?

PB = Productive Burping (or as I like to call it, "an unfortunate incident." ) It's when you burp and your food doesn't stay down. HTH!

Fabulous February Bandsters check in
Oblong replied to serenity55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Checking in! I'm finally in ONEderland at 199.6.:rolleyes2: Having a little problem with some reflux, but I just got a fill on Monday ( 12/7/09). Hoping this wll stop, as this is the first time I've had this. I'm at 2ccs now and want to try and keep it because my last fill they had to take what they put in plus a little more because I was sliming on Water. My next fill is Jan 25th and I want to have lost another 10 pounds by then. Fingers crossed! -
EEK! I tried that route BEFORE I got banded. Yeah, it works - it doesn't stay off, and you feel like blankity-blank. Diets like that are why my metabolism's shot and why I had to get the band. I'm thinking this Dr's a quack.:rolleyes2:

I haven't been on for a while, but by way of an update, I'm finally down below 200! 199.6! Whoo-hoo! On another note, has anybody had a painful burning sensation in their back when they burp soon after their fill? This is the first time I've had this. I'm at 2 ccs and I want to try and tough it out because the fill before this one, they had to take some out. (I was sliming on Water.) After this last fill on Monday, I had problems with sliming in my sleep (I was up several times during the night). I slept elevated, and that seems to have helped. How long does it take for the band to loosen up a smidge after a fill? SO... 60 pounds down, 82 more to go!
-
Yes, I was the moron whose first fill was delayed for a month because she stayed on pureed food three weeks longer than she was supposed to. SO... Tomorrow (Monday) will mark my first week with a fill. I have about 2 cc's in now, and I've got to say I LOVE MY LITTLE PLASTIC BUDDY!! It is SO nice to get full and stay that way on hardly any food at all. I've been able to go out and eat, but THIS time, I take about 3/4 of the stuff home, or I leave it there at the restaurant. I get full much faster, which makes it a lot easier for me to push food away and/or stack the plates on top of what's left and not eat it. I think I'm on my way! YIPPEE!!!

"No Fill For You!" Because I was a Stupid DooDoo POOPIE HEAD!!!
Oblong posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
UGH! I'm such a Moron!! I was all psyched for my first fill today! I went in, all pleased as punch that I was a good 'lil bandster, eating all my purred food (I swear I thought I'd never say this, but if I never see mashed potatoes and gravy again, it'll be too soon!).... So I go in and get my weigh in (16 pounds since the last visit!), and wait for the doctor. I tell him, all shiny-happy-people like that I'd been eating pureed food for the last five weeks.... Uh, NO, Doofus! I was only supposed to eat it for TWO weeks. I couldn't get my fill today because they didn't have anything to gauge what they should fill. So the doctor wants me to start adding in solids, and come back next month. AGGGH!!!! I want restriction!! I'm really scared that I'm going to start putting on weight now that I'm eating solid food. I started to call and check to see if he really wanted me on purees for the whole time between visits. I'm such an idiot! -
"No Fill For You!" Because I was a Stupid DooDoo POOPIE HEAD!!!

The doctor said that since I have a standard size (10cc) band there may be a little restriction already (if I understood him correctly) and a teeny-tiny bit of fill that they use to prime it sort of. Oh well. It's just that I've got so much weight to loose! -
And I CAN NOT WAIT!!!! UGH! I'm so sick of the pureed diet, it's not even funny. But I have lost 30 pounds since the surgery. This is based on the weight taken on my home scale. I don't know what the doctor's scale will say, but I can tell I've lost some weight. I can see it in my face, and tell when I bend down to tie my shoes. (I don't get winded and feel like I'm going to faint! Yay me!!!:smile2:) I can't WAIT to actually CHEW SOMETHING!!!
-
I mean, I don't the desire to eat things that I'm not supposed to, but I'm getting tired of my pureed diet. It's not an issue of getting full on smaller amounts - just bored with what I'm eating. My first fill's not till the 30th. AGGGH!!!
-
Do you count the weight you get when you weigh in at your fills, or the weight you have on your home scale? I haven't had my first fill yet, but I was weighed at my first visit post-op. I presume I'll be weighed again when I go in for my first fill. I'll take the scale that wieghs me the skinniest!

Are You Fat Because You Carry The Weight of the World?
Oblong posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was thinking that when I was with my 80 yo mom at the neurologist's office. There was a son who came in with his elderly parents, and you could tell he had obvious weight issues. You could tell that he was the child picked out of the family for whatever reason to be the caretaker for his parents. His mom says to me, "people look at me and then look at my son and don't believe I gave birth to him because he's so big!" I just felt so bad for her son because I don't think he CHOOSES to be morbidly obese. I think about the comments my mother's made about my weight - most of them very cruel (even when I wasn't heavy, she thought I was fat), and I wonder if the main reason why I'm fat is because I use it as insulation or armor. I've also always been the "fixer" in everybody's lives, always the "go to" gal, always the one to carry everybody, and I wonder if my weight is reflective of that. So, do you sometimes think you're fat because you carry the weight of the world? Is your fat protection? -
....And so far, so good! I don't have my first fill until the end of March, but so far, there is some restriction. I'm on mushies now, so lots of baby food and Soups. So far I am SOOOOO happy I had this done! It is so nice to be full on small amounts of food! YIPPEE!!!

Anyone notice Post Banders are a bit snobbish?
Oblong replied to El Diablo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Mmmm.... Toast..... Can you puree that in a blender? -
I was banded one day after you! I'm on pureed foods now - I just got the go ahead on Wednesday from Dr. Chau. The pains from gas are WAAAAAYYY better than they were, and I hardly have taken any pain meds. I kinda feel some restriction, even though my first fill isn't until the end of March. The day of surgery I was 266 :tsk:, and when I got weighed at my post-op visit on Wednesday, I was down to 256. I think most of that may have been Water weight because the DAY of surgery was the day my "Visitor" left town till her next visit.:mad2: I found a really yummy organic cream of broccoli Soup and a Cuban Black Bean Bisque. Whole Foods has a great Cream of Garlic and chicken (WHOO-HOO! is it GARLICY!), cream of portabello mushroom soup, as well as a great organic chicken broth, beef broth, and vegetable broth. I'm also eating baby food (ham, chicken and beef). SOOOOO.... So far, so good! SO LET'S GET SKINNY!!!:tt2:

I'm back and BANDED!!! The only complication was that they discovered I have a large uterus from Fibroids - as in, it comes up to just about my liver. They had to call in an OBGYN to see if it was ok to place the band. So now I've got to deal with THAT. BUT, the band was placed, and I'm home after a couple of days at my friend's house. I haven't been taking too many painkillers, and the shoulder pain is getting better. I had my post-surgery follow-up, and have moved from Clear liquids to pureed foods. My first fill is March 30. I got the 10cc band and even empty, I still feel some restriction. OMG! It is SOOOO wonderful to be full on a half a cup of soup and a small jar of baby food! So....YAY!!! WE'RE HERE!!!

OK - Since I'm an inept moron who didn't bookmark the page, can someone point me in the direction of the list of things I should have post surgery? I know to pack an overnight bag, I got beef bullion and chicken bullion and Gas-x strips. I'll ask the doctor to see if he can phone in the pain meds so I can pick them up before surgery. Am I forgetting anything else? Almost there!! I get banded on the 20th!!!
