  1. A week from tonight, I will be banded. In light of this, I've been saying good-bye to my favorite foods. No more champagne, no more brownies, no more Chineese buffet or Indian buffet. No more going to nice restaurants or parties. Well, if I didn't have the metabolism of a rock, I wouldn't have to do this. I need something mechanical that will beat my body into submission. I've fought with my weight my whole life - time to show it who's boss!:frown: So, what was your "Last Supper" before you were banded?

    Feb 20th here we come!

I'm getting banded on the 20th too! Dr. Chau is my surgeon. Almost there!!!
  3. .....I'll be banded!! Whoo-Hoo!!!! AGGH!!:frown: OK - Sillyness over.:cursing:
  4. I can't wait! I have to go back to my PCP AGAIN because he won't give me a medical release until he goes over the results of my PAT. Grrrrr...... Some nonsense of "since it's been three months since I gave clearance to the insurance company..." blah-blah-blah. My Lap Band surgeon got the same set of results, and I haven't heard from HIM, which you think I would if there was a problem. UGH! SO anyway, the 20th is fast approaching! I'm having "Last Suppers" - but not too many! LOL! Saying good-bye to my favorite Indian buffet and Chinese Buffet and champagne and orange soda. :-(
  5. Just when you thought you've heard the end of my stupid questions, HERE COMES ANOTHER ONE!:Dancing_wub: I see posts from people who say they have a 10cc band, for example, and I think, "how did they get that?" Do you tell the surgeon what size band you want, or does the surgeon decide that? I go for my pre-admission testing on Friday. AGGGGH!:wink2:
  6. I can't believe I can never have champagne ever again, so I've been drinking it like it's water! The dying doesn't bother me because if it happens, I'll get to see my husband. What makes me nervous is that this won't work, or I'll have to have it removed because of erosion or that it'll leak.

    Great News

    OMG! So am I!!!:tongue2:
  8. What about climbing stairs and driving? I'll have to drive myself to the hospital - nobody else to do it. My doctor likes to keep his patients overnight. I guess I could take a cab to and from surgery, but it'll be expensive.
  9. I'e been reading some posts so that I can get ready for my fill in February. (YAY!) I keep seeing posts on fills adjusting, or that the fills will change in a couple of weeks, or restrictions, or sweet spots.... AAAAAAGGGGGHH! My brain hurts. Can I go home now? Will I have to keep having fills as I loose weight? What's this 10-14 days thing? I so confused!
  10. UGH! I'm to get back on track with my pre-op diet after the holidays and be really strict. (I'm on 1200/day.) I'm starving! I know I'm getting enough, but I still want more. I can't wait till I get the band next month, and I can get full on a half of a half of a sandwich! UGH! I'm so tired of fighting my body!:tongue2:
  11. Oh, man! I watched Discovery yesterday afternoon, and they had a marathon on the Brookhaven Weight Loss clinic. My heart went out to them because I'm in the same boat sort of. I only have 130 to loose; these people have twice that or more, so I'm hesitant to say we're in the same boat. They'd take one look at me and say, "get out and swim!". The director was not at ALL supportive to those wanting WLS, and every time it was mentioned by the narrator or the center's director, it was reffered to as a "quick fix." Not at all encouraging. I don't know. This is the court of last resort for me. I've done the diets, I've done the exercise, I've lost weight, but it doesn't stay off. The way I see it, the Lap Band is a tool to make sure that once the weight comes off, it stays off. But what if? I see posts on the board where people are having trouble eating and throwing up, people thinking they've wasted money on the procedure, etc. If this doesn't work, I've wasted a buttload of money, and it's yet another failed attempt at loosing weight. I've fought with my body my whole life. Maybe I'm just supposed to be fat? I don't know. Then there's the theory that if I don't do anything at ALL, I'll still be mornidly obese and possibly larger. I'm freaking out. It doesn't help that surgery is so far away (February). HELP!
  12. OK, so remember how I said "no more weight loss programs"? So I'm watching TLC's "Half Ton" series, which seems to be a little more pro WLS. It's all gastric bypass and doesn't gloss over the risks, but at least they're not treating it like it's a cop-out, KWIM? OK; only freaked out a teeny bit today.

How is it sexist? "Foxes" is for both men and women. As in, "Robby Benson is such a FOX!" (I think I may have just dated myself...)

I'm scheduled for February 20th. WHAH-HOO!! SO, what are we going to call ourselves? I like "February Foxes"!:wink2:
  16. OK - New rule: no more watching weight loss programs! I watched that show "Ruby" today; the one where she's lost 60 pounds so far on the pre-packaged meals. Her doctor says, "that's what you would have lost with gastric bypass". I know that the whole thing is to push his pre-packaged meals and that it doesn't really teach anybody how to eat. The thing I don't get is why is it doctors seem to be so against WLS? I'm not as freaked as I was... Kinda....
  17. .... For when you loose your weight? (Ha-ha! Made you Look!) Mine are: Being able to fit into an airplane seat without having to use a seatbelt extender; Being able to shop at Talbots (I've always loved vintage clothes and classically tailored clothes); Being able to buy clothes at the end-of season sales that are the SMALL sizes, and not the outrageously LARGE size leftovers that nobody buys (or will admit to); Taking pictures again and actually being IN them and not hiding behind someone or something; Being able to fit into GAP jeans or Old Navy casuals; Cute sundresses instead of tents. Ahhh..... Better than.... Chocolate!

    2009 Bandsters?

I'm February 20th. AGGGHHH!!! I'm excited and scared all at once!
  19. Yep, that was what I was told by one of the doctors my PCP wanted me to see before I could get my support letter from him. I had a follow-up with him today (this doc, not my PCP), and he said, "well, if you loose about twenty - thirty pounds, that'll be alright; but you're never going to weigh the 112 pounds the charts say you should weigh. Even if you get down to 200, that would be good." (I'm about 4' 10".) I don't need to do Lap Band to loose twenty or thirty pounds; I can do that without the hit to my wallet and the surgery. I need to loose at least half of my weight (130 pounds). Kinda disheartening....
  20. It wasn't the bariatric surgeon - he and his staff have been great. It was another doctor.

    6 days ago it happened...

Where in NJ did you have your surgery, and with whom?

    I got a date!!!

Congratulations! Mine's not till February, but it'll be here before you know it. Add me to the people who are grateful for the sacrifices both you and your husband have made for us. ((HUGS))
  23. YIPPEE!!! I got the OK from Oxford, and the clinic called me to let me know before I got the letter! LOL! I have Lap Band surgery February on the 20th. EEK!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!! YAY!!!!
  24. Has anybody used NJ Bariatrics for lap band surgery? I guess I should have asked this before I got my surgery date! LOL! The surgeon I'll be using is Dr. Wai Yip Chau. I love the staff - everybody has been so helpfull and supportive. Has anybody gotten their LB from them?
  25. FINALLY! The doctor - the new one - has finally faxed over the letter of support I need to send to Oxford so I can get pre-certified! Yippee! Now everybody has to keep their fingers crossed that they'll approve the surgery. One step closer....!
