I was also ordered the liquid diet for 2 weeks. But after a week and still not feeling better plus feeling like I was starving to death. I tried some refired beans with cheese.. it worked. So at about a weak I added mushies like baby food. When I went to the nutritionist 3 weeks after surgery. She asked what I had been eating.. when I said mushies she looked at me like what is that? I got that off this website and other lapband sites.. So she said I was supposed to be doing a high protein diet for 6 weeks. I told her I h/n had any problems and have started (4weeks) eating regular food salad, wraps etc. She gave me this list of approved foods only green beans and carrots for veges & meats/chesse.. But pre-op and 4 weeks out I've lost 30bs. So I know I may get some boos but I say do what you can handle.. Your body will let you know if it's too soon. The goal is to eat like normal people just alot less! -
Hi ~ tomorrow is my day. 9:45am. I will have to stay overnight though. I lost 14lbs on my pre-op. I'm super excited and a little nervous too. My kids are excited for me too. I'm prepared with a a bag full of fashion magaizes and Biggest Loser tomorrow. I sure hope the hospital gets the channel. I can't believe I did it, the day is here!

Hey lady Congrads on your date you won't regret it and don't be scared my surgery lasted 47 minutes I went in at 6 am to prep I was home by 2 pm. Everything went great I was a little tired for the anthesia the first day but after I slept that off I was good to go. Your going to do fine. Good luck to all of this week. You are the first of the Feb banders.. Let us know everything!!! I'm going to the dieatician today I'll keep you posted on what my 2 week diet entails. Yes what things will we need for the hospital. I was wondering that myself.. Do we shower there? I have to get started on the house cleaning and getting my closet organized.. Bye Bye size 22!!

Wow I'm excited for everyone.. I found out on 1/30 that they could do my surgery 2/17!!!!! Fully prepared for a 2 month wait but there was a cancellation. Anyways my 1st thought was wow I'll have to start my pre-op diet next week. It was a wierd feeling almost like well I'm not ready to give up food. But hello I've been going through the process since Sept 08!!!! I have lost my diet plan from the nutritionist.. What does the pre-op diet consist of?

Never really thought about it. I'm more worried about the loose skin. My consultant was saying they are working on a plan to help bariatrics with the loose skin. Tummy tucks and breasts lifts for everyone. I am starting to worry what if I d/n like this new body! What does happen with the belly fat and arms and yes boobs? -

I've had a breast reduction about 5 years ago. They were supposed to be a C cup but they were closer to a D. I'm at my heaviest weight now while I am a DD they are no where near what they used to be. I am waiting on approval for lab band now. My suregeon told me that if I loose wieght they will get smaller if I gain bigger. Were they a "normal" size when you were smallest? Mine always huge even smaller. If I had to pick ~ lab band 1st. My reduction helped my confidence but smaller boobs made me realize how big my belly was. Crazy huh! I'm a little worried about how big/small they will be if I get approved for lap band. PS It was sooo much easier to get approved for breast reduction! -
$2500 sounds great compared to $4500. My coordinator told The surgeon fee is $3,405.00, assistant surgeon fee is $1,021.50. Hospital fee for lap band is $14,500 and anesthesia runs about $975.00. Surgery center would collect around $885.30 (20% of surgeon and assistant surgeon fee's). If the hospital collect 20% then that's close to $3000. So that would make up $4000 not including antehsia. I called UHC and they told me not to pay anything until they send back the contract amount of what they will pay and to keep all receipts in case of over payment. So even if they say it costs $14,500. UHC may only pay 10,000 and my 20% comes of that. I can swing closer to $2000 so keep your fingers crossed for me! My forms say you have to make all co-payments before surgery otherwise it will be cancelled. I haven't even been approved yet. So I'm just going to with the flow.

You are right the $4500 just stuck in my head though. I totally freaked out. Hopefully it won't be that bad like you said. Do you get the hospital bill after the surgery? Or is it all included? Congrats on the weight loss. I guess it's totally worth the $$!! I have my series of dr. appts this month. EKG, Nutrition, Psy, and Breath Tek. I had no idea it would be soo many. But I convinced the doc not to do the overnight thing for sleep apenia. The coordinator said it would still be a few months out. So I'm aiming for Feb. when I get my tax return!

Okay so my coordinator told me my insurance pays 80% and I am responsible for 20% but no more that $4500. How much is the surgery in NC and will I my out of pocket be $4500. The info sheet says NO PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS.. All costs must be paid before surgery. So how can they charge for a surgery before you've had it..I have united health care. Can anyone give me a gestimate or how much you've ended up paying.
