Do you burp more now that you are banded? (non-productive, just air)
ambogrl replied to dustout's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I NEVER burped before, now like a lot of you its always! And long ones too. I hate it! -
Ok everyone one week post op. Total weight lost since my pre-op diet started...11.8 pounds. I feel great! But I have to be on restricted duty at work due cause dr wont let me lift over 15lbs for a month! I'm on mushy foods now, trying to stick to 3 meals a day no snaking! Ok girls my advice to you all... #1 SPORTS BRA!!!!! I could not get the underwire on for a few days cause of the incision (it hurt to put it on). Additionally I have BIG boobs (38E) and the weight of them "resting" on my belly hurt. The Sports bra helped. #2 Bring COMFORTABLE panties, and make sure your family has them bedside at post op. You must be naked for surgery but afterwards my clothes were no where to be found (my dad put them in the car!) and I had to wear the hospital throw away mesh panties (One size fits all, DOES NOT fit all) #3 ICE CHIPS. My mouth was so dry after surgery that I thought I was going to die, REALLY the pain from surgery did not compare to this uncomfortable state. #4 We got big Stuffed Bears to hold on our stomachs. It helps so have a pillow to help when you cough, or to put between you and the shoulder seat belt in the car (it can rub!) #5 Slippers or slip on shoes for walking. #6 STOMACH SLEEPERS! I sleep on my stomach. I have to prop pillows up around me so i won't roll onto my stomach when I sleep. It happend one night and I woke up from the pain! #7 Do not let people around you make you feel guilty, and don't let them feel guilty! They can eat whatever they want! You are changing your life for the better. Tell them their eating doesn't bother you and should be the same for them #8 Low sugar popsicles #9 LIQUID TYLENOL. I had a reaction to the steri strips, I have VERY senstive skin, but I heard alot of people get a reaction. I feared I would get an infection at my incision sites so I took some anti-histimine meds and I got a low grade fever so I took and adult dose of childrens liquid tylenol. It worked. #10 When you think you have made a horrible mistake (you will think this the first few days), remember you are making a lifestyle change. You are making a decsion to be healthy, for you and your loved ones. I hope this helps Heather

Hey Tammy and all My mom and I have not told anyone except my dad (our nursemaid) and my friend that has also done the lap band (she has good info). We are just telling people we are still on weight watchers and are really trying hard this time. You lose weight slower with the band so we hope people will just see us actually doing it this time! Don't freak out if you cheat, remember you won't be able to eat some thigs ever again! I hope you and yours feel better for you "vacation" Heather oh and i need someone to help me with my weight loss ticker!!!

Hey ya'll! I had my surgery at 9am yesterday, the 21st, my mom goes in for hers in a few hours. The nurses told me I was the poster child for the lap band cause I was doing so well. I had ALOT of nausea after waking up from anesthesia and since they don't want you to throw up so as not to have the band slip, the nurses started pushing all these anti-nausea meds into me. It took phenergan, and zofran to get me settled down. I have 5 incisions across my belly just under my bra line. Bleeding a little but not too bad. My room upstairs wasn't ready so they took me from post op back to pre op so my family could sit with me. I never was in alot of pain, the only thing that bothered me was my mouth was SO dry! My tongue had no moisture it was driving me crazy! I never made it up to my room! I got up and peed, then they discharged me @ 3pm! Sent me home with anti-nausea and pain perscription At home I drank some shakes last night and some popsicles cause my mouth was still so dry. It hurts a little to get up out of bed, from lying down to sitting up. You don't reailze how much you use your stomach muscles to get out of bed! I hope this helps all you guys! Good luck! I go back to bed now! Heather

Hey Guys! I have 1 and 1/2 days left! I must say the liquid diet thing (I'm winging it too... diet shakes, Jello, non-chunky Soup, yogurt etc) has helped with my confidience.... I've lost 6 pounds... and in a way it makes me feel that I won't die with out "real" food. I listened to my friend and decied to grab a bit of my favorite foods (ok A LOT) and "pig out" before surgery, since I will never be able to again. You know what guys, I felt AWFUL!!!! Not just emotionally, guilty that I cheated. But I was nauseous, my stomach felt unsettled and heavy. It was probably the best idea ever cause now I KNOW I can do this! I hope this help ya'll fighting that liquid diet! Ambo Hey how can I get those weight/bmi counter dower things on my posts?

hi guys  My surgery is the 21st and my mom is the 22nd! We decided to do it together. I know I'm a little earlier then most of you, but you can hear it first from me! I have been on liquids for almost two weeks and its hard, but I like it because it prooves that when I get the band I won't freak out. My buddy had it done two years ago and told me to eat whatever I want cause I won't be able to again! I just finished my pre-op stuff with the hospital yesterday, and I'm so excited. I can't wait any longer!
