  1. Happy Birthday AKAYLA98!

  2. Happy 37th Birthday AKAYLA98!

  3. 3 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 3rd Anniversary AKAYLA98!

  4. You go girl! You look sooo good! I am only down about 50 lbs, but I am now stalled because I have stopped working out and kicked my diet to the curb. After reading your story, I am inspired again. Off the couch I go. I really need to work on my protein intake.
  5. I have had four fills also. I have a little restriction, but I have heard so many horror stories about getting so tight that you can't tolerate anything. I do not want to have a complete unfill. My MD is very understanding and patient. He explains everything. He told me I have a 10cc band and right now I have about 5 cc in my band. i am about 6 months out, so he says I can have a fill every 2 weeks if I want until I reach my desired restriction, but I am scared!
  6. I had a bad experience today with meat. I tried to eat it first as instructed, but I was only able to eat a few bites before it felt stuck! So I couldn't eat anything more and I was starving. It took a couple of hours for it to go down. By that time I was sooo hungry that I pigged out (more than 1/2 cup) on soft foods that are able to go down. None of which contained much protein! I am having a hard time adjusting to this third fill, but I do not want an unfill at this time so I guess I have to deal with it!
  7. I feel the same way. I just got my third fill and I cannot eat much because it feels stuck, but I am still very hungry. It has been a very frustrating week to say the least, but I hope that I will some how adjust.
  8. I had something get stuck today. I drank a couple of sips of juice whcih didn't help at first because it wouldn't go down either then finally it went down. It is very uncomfortable!

    No support from husband

My husband pretended to be interested and supportive before my surgery. There was so much prep time and hard requirements before surgery that I think he thought I would give up, but I was determined. He went with me to a visit and when I had surgery. He was very supportive during my post op issues, but once I begain to loose a noticeable amount of weight, it has changed. He has become insecure. He accuses me of trying to loose weight to find a new man. It is going to be hard for him because I am not the same person anymore. I am more confident. I received a promotion at work. I LOVE to shop and look nice now. So it is scary to him. He has to realize I still love only him and he will be alright. I hope! hang in there. This was one of the best choices I have made. Good luck to you!
  10. I was not aware that this was even an option! I am a nurse who works on the unit that specializes in WLS and I would not feel comfortable doing myself. I could see trying to do someone else, but there are too many things that can go wrong. What if you can't find the port? What if you over fill? What is the risk of infection? What if you are not in the correct area and you start injecting saline? I would advice against this practice and I could not imagine why any GOOD doctor would suggest or allow this!

    Ladies with large chests...

I wore an underwire bra home from the hospital with no problem. It probably does depend where your incisions are located.
  13. I was like that for the first 2 weeks. I had no appetite at all. I did not want to drink anything not even water, but I forced myself because I did not want to become dehydrated. Take it slowly, even if you just do sips and/or popsicles. Hang in there and congrats on your surgery!
  14. I told my family and close friends. My situation is different in that I work on the unit that specializes in WLS. I told a few people that I can trust, but I just don't want to be scrutinized during my journey. It is tough enough dealing with my ups and downs without everyone at work watching my every move.
  15. I am glad to see that I am not the only person loosing hair. I was told to increase my protein, but I am not a big meat eater and I hate protein supplements! Help!
