Okay, here's the more fattening version. However, it doesn't require an ice cream machine, and it can be made using sugar free and fat free ingredients to reduce the carb impact. I found sugar freee chocolate chips at my grocery store, so I may make my own chocolate sauce using Splenda. We'll see how it goes. BTW, I'm allergic to nuts, so I'd appreciate someone telling me how the nuts taste in this one. The original recipe has 382 calories and 32 carbs. I'll bet we can reduce it with a bit of effort.

You're about to have some treats, my friend. I'm testing a new recipe today, and judging by the taste that --ahem!--accidentally splashed on my hand and had to be licked up, this is a new favorite in my household! Easy and low carb!

I've uploaded a few recipes recently, but I've gotten very few comments about them. I do appreciate feedback. Do you like them? Would you prefer I didn't do this? Any requests? Lena

Milk Sherbert-- Easy Substitute for Ice Cream
voiceomt2002 commented on voiceomt2002's blog entry in Blog 49252
I can't believe it! I found not one, but two substitutes for ice cream, just when the weather is warming down here in Florida and I'm missing those cool, creamy treats. Here's the lower calorie and carb one: Jell-o Milk Sherbert. (Bless you, Grandma!) By simply using sugar free Jell-o and Splenda, I can make this practically a "freebie" on my diet. Woohoo! -
A Mushie Dessert That's Okay to Eat-- Basic Bavarian

You can definitely use Splenda. I've been using Cool Whip Free, which for me is the better use of carbs and calories, but that's a personal choice. This recipe is delicious! I've made it for years. -
You got it, BG. Also, most of my recipes are jpg's, which means you may be able to right click on them and save them to your computer for later printing. Honey, you want mushies and low-carb? Coming right up!

Ben, I can't wait to hear from you. Your eloquence is worth keeping in my files for the next time someone asks me why I did something so "radical."

I'm not surprised at all by this. I know I've bought clothes, taken them home to find out they don't fit, and then made the trip back for a return -- all because I won't use their dressing rooms. I'll have to lose another fifty pounds before I'll consider re-evaluating my masochism enough to use a store dressing room.

As promised, here are some of the variations. There are more! Wait until you see the delicious mushies I found! I'm so excited! Even though I'm on solids, I remember how difficult it got eating only mushies and "clear liquids." These help!

A Mushie Dessert That's Okay to Eat-- Basic Bavarian

I found this great recipe among all my grandmother's diabetic cookbooks. I altered it by using SF Jell-o and Cool Whip Free, but it works just the same. Tomorrow, I'll post variations. This is so versatile, I had to share. -
Wendy's a brave woman, IMHO. I've not yet faced the idea of appearing in public in a swimsuit, for all I joke about bikini's at my age.

Oh, dayum! I wish I'd gone now. I've considered Val very yummy since it would have been illegal to even consider what I wanted to do to him! LOL!

I had to stay overnight, and I had a slightly different list. Everyone's a little different, I guess. Instead of a straw, I took a sippy cup and I'd removed the little plastic regulator inside. Mine looked like a small purple travel mug, so it wasn't so bad. It controlled how much liquid I took in fairly well. I also had to take my CPAP machine.

I signed up for the beta test, and I'm pleased so far. Yes, they need to work out some bugs, but it's not bad. Here's what I got in my email: Welcome to Food.com! ROTFLMAO! Thanks, BG. Actually, for a crafts project, I was thinking of a yardstick incorporated into a kitschy chair rail so you could take a picture of the inches sliding off you. Bring your own yardstick, but I've got all the acrylic paints anyone could need. LOL!

What did you eat today, Hotties??

Yep! I have a blog where I post a lot of healthy bandster recipes: Fat Frog Diary. Here you go! Great for when you're late. Microwave on medium about 1 minute or so. You can change out the meat and/or veggie to make use of leftovers in the fridge. Sausage-and-cheese Breakfast Cups (Phase 1) Makes 6 servings Description These egg "muffins" make a hearty breakfast that can be eaten on the run. Make them ahead and warm them in the microwave for a fast and slimming breakfast treat. Ingredients 4 ounces turkey sausage or crumbled turkey bacon 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped 1/4 onion, chopped 5 large eggs 1 can (12 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained 1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese Instructions Preheat the oven to 350°F. Coat a 6-cup nonstick muffin pan with cooking spray or line with paper baking cups. In a medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, cook the sausage, pepper, and onion for 5 minutes, or until the sausage is no longer pink. Spoon the mixture into a bowl and cool slightly. Stir in the eggs and mushrooms. Evenly divide the mixture among the prepared muffin cups. Sprinkle with the cheese. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the egg is set. I hear you on the PCP, Biker! Amazing how they wanted nothing to do with us and blamed everything on the weight (or also in my case, the smoking. I've since quit.) I so badly want to look at my PCP and say, "Now what will you blame this pain in my foot on? Can I see a podiatrist now?" I have to get her referral for everything.

Sign me up for SHA, please! I'm so bad, I use a wipe off marker to keep track of my daily weigh-in on the bathroom mirror. "Hmm! I weighed 245 yesterday! What did I eat that made me gain a whole pound! Ack! Okay, meal replacement shakes for breakfast and lunch! Must lose! Must lose!"

Julie.Ann and several others told me about online food journals like sparkpeople.com, thedailyplate.com and fitday.com. I've been keeping a print food journal for over two years, but the ink and paper costs were eating me alive, to be honest. Finally, I looked at the three I mentioned and decided on fitday.com. That's a personal choice! I don't advocate any one brand. However, I'm now totally converted to online food journals after just three days. At first, I was frustrated by searching for my specific food I'd injested, especially when it came to recipes. Finally, I started using the Custom Food option when I couldn't find what I needed or wanted to use a recipe's nutrition info. Whew! Much better. Funny thing is, I'm staying on my diet better now. Maybe it's that whole "I know nothing on the net is truly private" paranoia, but I'll take what works. I never fudged on calories or carbs in my journal, but this way ensures a certain level of honesty. Today, I'll probably break my diet --again. This time, in a good cause. I'm driving down to St. Augustine to visit my Mom. Mom's a underweight very eccentric retired artist. (Yes, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree in the creativity department. She painted with color and glass, I paint with words.) I'd better take notes of what I eat. Better put a notepad in my purse.

::Headdesk:: I spent too much money! Add temptress to my mother's list of skills. (sob! sob!) She took me to a seafood restaurant, where I impressed her with my choices and how quickly I filled up. Then the evil woman suggested we hit places like Crocs, Liz Claiborne, Jockey, and (dare I say it?) Saks at the outlet mall. Evil woman! Eee-vile! ::Lena peeks through her fingers to see if anyone's buying the abdication of responsibility bullcrap:: -
::Taking a bow:: Thank you! That's going to be quite a pile you're sending. Should I have my DH drop by your way with the semi? LOL! I have that bumper sticker BTW. The bear is actually very easy and takes maybe an hour to cut and stitch. I hand-stitched the pearls on while I watched TV last night. Not that difficult, really. Lena
