My weightloss journey begins at an early age with diet after diet, then giving up. I excepted the weight and started living the best that I could with the cards that I had been dealt. I successfully lost 100lbs around 16 years of age by starvation very unhealthy way to do it, but that is what I did only to gain it all back. I developed health related problems early such as Diabetes, Heart Disease etc. I suffered a heartattack at the age of 45yrs and knew that my weight was taking it's toll on me. I knew that if I didnt do something fast I wouldn't be around to enjoy my grandkids. I began to research my different options but I didn't have the courage to follow thru with surgery at that time. It wasn't untill I had a long talk with my Aunt who never had the courage herself to have the surgery told me, I didn't want to live my life like she was having to live. It mad me realize that she knew where I was headed and she loved me enough to tell me to do something before it was too late. I still waited around and didnt get serious untill she passed away suddenly of Heart Failure at age 64 yrs, that I decided to go thru with it. She passed away in June and by Nov of the same year I had Lapband surgery. I have gone from wearing size 24 to size 12-14. I have lost from 258lbs starting weight to 238 on day of surgery to 178.2 at this time. I am still on my way, but have come so far. I am no longer on an insulin pump to control my Diabetes, I no longer have Diabetes! I do not have to take Blood Pressure medication any longer. I have energy to do lots of things these days and I am enjoying my grandkids all six of them.
