    New 60+ Thread

I haven't posted anywhere over the holidays and feel the need to "get back in touch". I was banded 10/31/08 and have lost about 30# overall, but I think I gained a few over the holidays. I've only had one fill and believe I need another. I can eat waaay too much. And have made very poor holiday choices. So! New year, same old resolution. I've had some notice of my wt. loss, which surprises me. I'm still and awfully big ball of yarn for a few feet to it to be noticable. I'd love to figure out how to do one of those tickers. If anyone is willing to take me through it, step-by-step, my email is Lambgram@comcast.net. Thanks in advance. :tt2: Linda from Chicago area

    Already fell off the wagon...

My doctor said something that helped me avoid that pitfall. Maybe it'll help you, too. He said if I stretch the pouch too much before restriction, it may cause slippage. That was a major scare for me, so, despite HUNGER, I've managed to keep my binging to sugar free popcicles and puddings. Linda:redface:

Sorry I haven't been back here. I'm in Oak Forest, a southwest 'burb of Chicago. My surgery is Friday; 4 days and counting. I'm getting used to this full liquid diet. Nobody said anything about having to do clear liquids for a day or so. Maybe I should just do it to be on the safe side? Linda Oh, btw, I still can't figure out how to do the ticker thing.

    Surgery: October 31

After all these months, I finally have a date. Have been doing liquids for 12 days now. I started a week early like a goofball. Wish me luck. I'm anxious and nervous, but excited to be making progress. Linda

liquid diet support group ?? Anyone

I'm scheduled for 10/31 and started the liquids 1 week early, which will make a total of 3 before I go. STUPID! I'm soooo hungry. I just thought I'd get a jump start, but didn't realize how very hard this is. Too late to turn back now because surgery is only 11 days away. I'll be looking for any ideas to make this endurable. I soo enjoy the small bowl of tomato Soup I've been having in the pm. 'Specially since it's gotten so chilly here in the Chgo area.

    Liquid Diet Suggestions

I've lost 9 lbs, but not getting enough food. I added the egg to a vanilla cream Atkins shake this a.m and a sprinkle of fresh nutmeg and that was the most satisfaction I've had in days. I decided to actually count Proteins today and try to get down more than the 50 or so grams I've been averaging. How many Advantage drinks should we have per day? Linda

Hello! I'm so glad to find the 60's plus group. I even questioned whether or not it was too late to get the band then decided I didn't want to have a plus-sized coffin! LOL After sooooo many hoops to jump, I'm finally having my surgery on the 31st of this month. Trick or treat! I've been doing the liquid diet -- an extra week because I'm crazy, I think -- and am starving. But, at least at my age, I know time passes quickly. My daughter, son-in-law, and 3 boys, plus my mother, live with my dh and me, so there are plenty of people to cook if I can't face the kitchen. I even have to close my eyes and plug my ears when a food commercial comes on the t.v. I'm supposed to be exercising, but have had knee replacedment and the ortho said walking should not be a major exercise for me. Any non-gym ideas?

    Liquid Diet Suggestions

Stupid me! When I got my date (10/31), I asked Dr. what to eat between then and the 2 wk. liquid diet. He said to lose as much as possible, which I took to mean I could start sooner, which I did. So I'm on Day 10 of 3 wks. Sigh. Yes, it's hard!!!! Twelve days to go, and no way to re-decide what to do. I'm glad I found this forum so I can try some of your ideas. Anyone else on Halloween so we can compare notes?

This is Day 10 of the pre-op liquid diet. I'm really struggling. I know it will work out for the best, but I'm literally counting days until I can have baby food . My RN daughter is so scared for me. But I keep telling her that she sees only the pathology, not the successes, and I plan to be one of the latter for sure. Twelve days till surgery and then she'll see I'm ok. Of course, she plans on going to the hosp. with me. My other 3 daughters feel just fine about it and every one of them is supportive. Funny thing. Well, not ha-ha, just odd. My husband just had a double hernia operation on Thurs. and he's supposed to go to the dr. for follow-up the same day as my surgery. Gotta call and see how we can work that out. I definitely want him there with me, if at all possible.

  14. Thanks. That's what I thought. It's really getting tough, though!!:w00t:
  15. Hello, Everyone, I'm a 61 yo grandma who is scheduled for banding 10/31. I've just started the liquid diet and was wondering if anyone knows if creamed soups are allowed? I've been working toward this for nearly a year and just got final approval today. Hooray! At least I might not have to be buried in an oversized coffin! LOL Linda
