  1. Anyone know of a doctor in the SF Bay Area who does fills? I had my surgery done by Dr. Alceves in Mexicali (it was a great experience, btw; I would send my mother to him) and while he does adjustments essentially for free, you first have to make your way to San Diego. I'd like to find someone closer to home. All of the obvious candidate doctors, such as those listed on the official Lap-Band and Realize Web sites, either don't do them at all for "oustiders", or else charge a big chunk of change. (One office quoted me $450 an adustment, or a year's worth for $2,000.) I'd love to know of alternatives here in Northern California. Thanks for any tips or leads anyone might provide.
  2. I was back at work two days after surgery, with only the most minimal pain medication. (I could have done without the meds, in fact.) I sit at a desk, so there is nothing physical involved, but I didn't feel in the least constrained or uncomfortable. I recall tiring a bit easier than usual, but even that wasn't much. I obviously was on the lucky side here, though my experience suggests that you might end up being pleasantly surprised at how easy the post-op period will be.
  3. I am male, 5'8" and 225 pounds, for a BMI of 34, though I probably don't look that heavy on account of being somewhat stocky. Being 55 y.o., I really need to get my weight down to the 180-pound range. But I know myself (and my dieting history) well enough to appreciate that I could never lose and keep off that much weight. Yet 45 pounds seems like a small amount in the context of lap band surgery, compared to many of the stories I see here and elsewhere. Does anyone have experience with using the lap band for the sort of weight loss I need to do? Thanks everyone in advance. bl
