is it true that smoking will erode the band?

i am also getting very nervous. my doctor wants to schedule me in the next two weeks. it is getting very real. insurance will not pay, so i will be footing the bill. i have been reading here for about a month and have really gained some great and useful knowledge. i just read everything and soak it in. don't know if you have gone through the entire forum, but it really helped me. at least for awhile, then i get nervous again....start reading again. great help.
