I would start with your favorites but please make it a point to cut up the food into small pieces and chew well. Since you don't have a fill, you shouldn't have problems. When I cut the food as I go (as opposed to cutting it all up before starting to eat), I notice the pieces are not as small and this has led to a piggyback. Good luck and congratulations on your progress.

Have you had your Iron levels checked? Iron saturation and ferritin levels are measured to assess for this condition. It would explain your tiredness.

Fast or gradual?

Interesting responses. Perhaps I wish my surgeon would have been a bit more aggressive with the first 2 fills. I'm anxious but nervous about going to my Sept. appt. As I get closer to optimal restriction, I worry about PBs. -
Of course you're welcome on the board.

Having a Really Hard Time With Protein Shakes
Elisabethsew replied to jgandg's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
have you tried any of the lactase-replacement products that aid digestion of lactose? The names of them escape me right now.... <!-- / message --><!-- sig --> Lactaide is the one I am familiar with. -
Having a Really Hard Time With Protein Shakes

Yes, you can use Immodium. Have you tried the ready to drink (RTD) shakes from Medifast? They are soy based. I am allergic to milk and did fine with that brand. -
Mine is several inches below the bra line neatly tucked away beneath adipose (fat) tissue. LOL. Keep us posted on what your surgeon decides.

LOL, and here I thought that was YOU. I had one years back and found it easy... too easy. It's low impact but doesn't burn many calories. -
Ditto to the above. The moderators acted on the problem and life is back to normal so what exactly is the problem?

I find it sad that a handful of people had to turn a place of total support & positive energy into nothing but a nasty popularity contest. You're correct, it was a handful of people but there are MANY people on the board. If you look over the threads, only a few revolved around the two feuding groups. Now that the Hatfields and McCoys have been banned, things are getting back to the mission of the forum. Please don't judge all based on the actions of a few. Your stats speak to your success with being banding. People like you are a real value to the board and shouldn't leave.

Congratulations on losing the nearly 80 pounds! It sounds like you might need a small fill to get the scales moving to lose the last 35. Are you tracking your caloric intake? exercise?
-
Was Penni banned as well?
-
The only reason I can think of is maybe you swelled more with this fill? If you're still in pain, call the surgeon.
-
I don't think you're going to get too many response because the majority of people do lose weight. Maybe you'd find some more info on the complications thread?
-
Anyone can play. Welcome.

Nobody knows the entire story and nobody ever will. That's why we have to trust the judgement of the moderators. For whatever reasons, several people were banned. Life goes on. Move forward.

A non-scale victory that helped you burn even more calories. WOW! Congratulations! -
I was on full fluids the week before the surgery and could have clear soups and tomato soup, yogurt, ice pops, lite ricotta cheese (4 oz), protein shakes, etc,. The day before surgery I had to do clear fluids only. Follow the prescribed diet from now until the day of surgery and I doubt you'll have a problem. Eating is definitely emotional and you're always emotional when facing surgery. How many times do we eat because the food is there but we're not hungry? It's like we believe if you don't eat all you can shove in now, you'll never have it again. Well, post-banding you CAN eventually have whatever you want. The band will help you make better choices (hopefully) and control amounts of the food you desire. Good luck with the surgery.

Welcome ladies! Take it easy while you're healing and make sure you stay hydrated and get a lot of rest.

Babs, I look for your posts and think your success has been amazing. Keep on posting!

I am certified to access lapband ports (no, I don't do my own), mediports, and chemoports. All are made by Inamed and can accomodate any needle but huber needles (right angle shaped) are recommended for mediports and chemoports and suggested for lapband ports. If you were inserting the needle into a lapband (or other Inamed port) you palpate a metal ring and spread your fingers to stabilize the port. You then insert the needle and it feels like you're going through a vinyl-like material. You keep inserting until you feel the needle hit a metal surface. You aspirate and then inject the fluid. Sometimes, you don't get an aspirate return and that's fine. it happens with other ports as well. If placement is in question, an x-ray or flouroscopy is suggested.
