Newly banded in Bama
Elisabethsew replied to asingingdiva's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome and congratulations on being banded. Try some ice on the incisions. You could also call the surgeon's office and ask them since I'm sure they get inquiries all the time. -
Surgery scheduled for June 27th 2008
Elisabethsew replied to gluon's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome! Congratulations on your surgery date and your graduation. I would suggest posting a "needle phobia" thread in the general discussion area. I'm sure you'll get MANY helpful suggestions. -
signs of needing band removed??
Elisabethsew replied to fatandoverit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Some people have symptoms and others don't. If you're really concerned, you can ask your surgeon to do some diagnostic testing. -
I can understand your frustration. I only told 2 people and that's how it remains. For me, that was the right decision. What's done can't be undone so try and ignore your MIL as much as possible and keep positive thoughts knowing you're on your way to a healthier and happier you.

I have read A LOT on this sight, now I'm worried
Elisabethsew replied to ineedthis's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
All of your MDs are on board and supportive so I don't think you'll have a problem. Read through the forum and you'll find many people who take medications for depression and other conditions who have been approved. -
Meds For Joint Pain
Elisabethsew replied to boricua61's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The lastest research shows that NSAIDS do NOT erode the band and can be taken. I have severe arthritis in my knees (need them both replaced) and take Aleve with breakfast and another with dinner. For severe pain, I have vicodin but rarely take it. -
Insane sugar cravings due to AD's
Elisabethsew replied to Done's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dumping syndrome can result when you have the stomach surgically altered as with gastric bypass or the sleeve. Because the stomach is bypassed to a major degree, the food dumps right into the intestine. This can result in diarrhea, vomiting, cramping pain, etc. -
Insane sugar cravings due to AD's
Elisabethsew replied to Done's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talk to the MD who prescribes your meds and ask for a referral to see a registered dietician. Maybe your diet can be adjusted to deal with the sugar cravings. -
Headaches are killing me
Elisabethsew replied to daymar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're experiencing carb withdrawal and that headache should go away after about 3 days. If it doesn't, call your surgeon's office. -

Anesthesiologist?
Elisabethsew replied to Aquameliza's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
He/she will ask about your medical and surgical history, any allergies, and will assess your airway to make sure there are no problems. It's also YOUR chance to ask questions so make a list. I was not weighed at this visit. -

Elisabethsew replied to delan004's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The best thing to do is to go to a free seminar and ask the surgeons. -

He says lapband is horrible...Go w/ Bypass!!
Elisabethsew replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's best to research ALL types of weight loss surgeries, talk to MDs, and make the best choice for YOU. -
Whew! I have just read every post in this thread. It seems this thread was created to discuss another member of the forum. While you have every right not to like a person and to debate the person, it is NOT allowable to post personal attacks. It now appears that the bad feelings are spreading between other members. So, look over the rules if you need a refresher, let's agree to disagree, and maybe this thread will/can die a natural death. Please?

Hi, Everyone....I think I'll be the contrarian voice here...
Elisabethsew replied to Headhunter's topic in Rants & Raves
Thank you for your explanation. I'm sure the members of the forum would enjoy hearing more from you and having your input on other threads as well as this one. -
First of all, ALL salt acts the same so eliminate it. If you take a statin for high cholesterol, grapefruit might be contra-inidcated. Limiting fluids can actually cause B/P to be higher so drink water. Eliminate caffeine and products that contain caffeine. Don't eat ANY processed foods or snack foods. Stick to fresh fruit and veggies. Exercise LOWERS your blood pressure so take a brisk walk about 30 minutes before your apt. and then do the relaxation things others mentioned.
-
You could also ask the people who do the fills in England how THEY became certified and what the qualifications are.

Elisabethsew replied to Headhunter's topic in Rants & Raves
Perhaps the reason for NOT posting the entire story is that the story will have an end and that's NOT what this person wants? -
newbe need more info
Elisabethsew replied to speaker37's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome. Call your insurance carrier and ask for a written list of what they require to pay for weight loss surgery. That's the best first step to take.
