I have know Dr. Geiss for over 20 years and work as an NP in the same health care system. For THAT reason, I limited my action to writing a letter to the CEO and CNO. Yes, HIPPA violations are serious and I will be discussing this issue with Dr. Geiss when I see him in a few weeks.

Please the read the PM I sent you and stop accusing people of things they did not say. I never insinuated "anyone lacks intelligence" and will not reduce myself to arguing with you.

Congratulations on being banded and welcome to the forum. Since you are a new member, it might be a good idea to read the rules of the forum. Attacking ideas is fine but personal attacks on people is not. The topic of this thread is the costs of fills and peoples' opinions on THAT issue. If you have a problem with an individual, use the option of sending a PM.

"Banding Together" is the name of the newsletter that Dr. Geiss emails to his patients. I believe I know who this person is and had to report him when he violated HIPPA laws. My advice to people with the Realize band is to listen to success stories like bassriley.

I am a friend of Dr. Geiss as well as his patient. I am going to discuss this matter with him and ask him to do a search of posts bearing his name related to the Realize band. He uses both bands and I'm sure he would not appreciate someone who works at Syosset Hospital speaking FOR him.

Rock, At this point, you're beating a dead horse. People are not going to go to their surgeons' offices using your words and your statistics to demand one band over the other. Aren't you a PACU transport aide for Dr. Geiss? The bottom line is that ANY band will "fail" if the person who has it fails to follows all the rules that go with the band such as drinking, exercise, etc., guidelines. You gave your opinion and people are looking for SUPPORT. Either be supportive or seek a new topic to post on. There are MANY for you to choose from.

I would add NOT to drink with meals so that you can truly know when you're full.

You are entitled to your opinion but please respect the fact that some people have more trials than others and come seeking support.

4crazyboys, I understand your frustration and, as a moderator, have to follow the rules that govern when we are able to suspend/ban a member. The administrator is well aware of the tone and contents of this thread and is taking appropriate action. I do think that rockbandster has made his/her point very well known. It's gotten to the point now where it seems like an obsession or a mission that he/she must "educate" everyone who has the Realize band on what a poor choice they made. The saying, "beating a dead horse" comes to mind. Please DO voice your concerns and ask whatever questions you have. It has become quite well known that any post created by Rockbandster will contain the same information against the Realize band and many people now just skip over reading what he/she says. The Realize band is new and many people have it. I have the inamed band but want to know how people with ALL types of surgical interventions are doing... pros and cons. Have faith that the administrators are on top of this situation and don't let one poster keep you from sharing and helping others.

Please remember to stick to the topic and not insult one another.

Is this a fact or is this a solicitation for people to contact this group? Please post the site where this information was read from and a link for people to check it out.

We have no waying of checking on the accuracy of what any member says.

I'm a medical professional and the body burns Protein last. I think the key words in this thread are "free" and "advice." You get what you pay for and advice is just that; an opinion. Since people are anonymous, we have no way of knowing if people are what they say they are. Anyone "taking" advice that is not backed up by peer reviewed scholarly articles that shows current research findings COULD be taking a BIG RISK.

Rockbandster, there is a way of politely disagreeing with people and not making them feel awful because they have a realize band. I am a medical professional and ALWAYS recommend that people who are having probelms with ANY band return to their surgeon. Many times people post a problem in the hope of getting support and advice before they see their MD. Telling people they don't know what they are talking about is insulting and against the rules of this forum.

Please remember that everyone is entitled to an opinion. It's important to discuss ALL options with the surgeon before making a decision. Remember too that most information sessions given by surgeons are free. It might be wise to visit a few.

I'm all for working to help those less fortunate but NOT by just handing them money. Oprah did a show that clearly showed giving a person money is nothing more than a short term fix. What is needed is more outreach programs, apprenticeships, trade schools, and scholarships. I am a big sister (Big Brother/Big Sister Program) to two young ladies and hope I can make a difference to them and for them.

When a member is banned he/she can't post on this forum. Occasionally, some members receive a suspension but those cases are few. All reported posts are read, investigated, and handled accordingly.

My Dad was 50% Cherokee Indian and he believed every able bodied person should work, that everyone should speak English, and that illegal people in the United States should either be given the opportunity to become a citizen or get out. He's gone now but I think his ideals ring true today.

Some surgeons believe the carbonation can stretch the pouch. Some say carbonation in moderation is fine.

Now that the election is over I hope EVERYONE can come together and fight for the common good... and I'm not running for office. LOL. Peace!
