Okay so i was banded on 11/11/08 and have been doing well, i lost 20 pounds so far and am loosing a few inches but no more pounds. I go for my first fill next friday and i'm worried because for the past week i have been able to eat a normal adult food portion and i don't really know what to do. I know this means i need a fill, but after the fill i will be able to only eat the small portions again right? I want so badly to be successful with this new tool that i have been fortunet enough to receive but very scared that i'm able to eat normal amounts of food and getting hungry sooner than i should. Thanks!

I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
ladybug14 replied to Cappy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello to all being banded and those who are, hope everyone is doing well! I was banded on November 11th and am doing really well have lost 15 pounds already an the liquids weren't as bad as i thought they would be and really not hungry at all, the mind game though was pretty rough when seeing good food and not being able to have it . I get to start mushies tomorrow very excited :tt2: to have something other than a liquid dinner. I had no pain in any of my insicions and they are healing great, the gas pains in the shoulder where worse than i ever thought they would be, but made sure i got GasX before surgery like everyone suggested. My questions is, the only pain i have really had from the surgery is where my port is, the pulling sensation is very uncomfortable. How long does this last and did anyone else have this same issue? Also how long before anyone was able to sleep on their side or stomach without any pain from the port? Thanks -

So i have a few questions if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it! 1st. i have UHC epo, my dr's office started my case with care coordination today and faxed all my info to them as well, how long does it take for UHC to be able to tell me if they got all the information that was faxed? 2nd. Once they have the info to the case manager, how long does it generally take to get an approval? I know by law they have 30 days but does it usually take that long? My dr's office stated they usually have a response in 7 to 14 days. 3rd. UHC only wanted my 5 year weight history and the dr's office sent that info along with my current weight, bmi and a list of my coborbidies in a letter, does anyone now if the letter from the physican will be helpful in obtaining the approval? Thanks in advance! Nervously waiting:whatchutalkingabout

UHC Approvals in texas
ladybug14 replied to ladybug14's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much for your help, I actually found out today that I will only need the blood draw and my plan pays 100%. I did go ahead and get info from my pcp just incase but my surgeons office said I most likely won't need it since I have given them more than enough info and records from one of my other doctors. So I’m hoping for a quick approval. Good luck with your journey! If you don't mind me asking are you from Houston? -
I am on my path to lap band surgery, i have already been to the seminar and my consult an testing are setup for thrusday 10/16/08(very excited), after that appointment they will submitting to UHC for my approval. I aslso have already had my 5 years of weight history from my docotr sent to the surgeons office, since my UHC stated all i needed is to have a BMI of 40+ or BMI of 35+ with co-morbidites, i have a BMI of 39 and type 2 diabetes so i qualify there and they also stated my surgeons office would need to send the 5 year history of my weight. So just wanted to find out if anyone has or had UHC EPO in Texas and if they requested additional info other than the 5 year history that they stated they needed for approval and how long it took to get the approval? Thanks in advance for the info.
