    Pre-op Diet & Cheating!

I'm on day 4 of a 4 week liquid diet. Gahhh. Even though lots of docs have different requirements , its best to listen to yours. 2 weeks isn't that bad. Today my husband asked me to go to McDonalds for him since u was gonna be out running errands and he was home working on my car. I nearly hit the roof, totally flipped out on him. Came home and my soup broth.oh yum. good luck!
  3. Good luck. I hope things go well for you. Sorry, I have no answers.....just well wishes. I had my EDG on Monday ......that was a little traumatic! I am band 2 sleeve too, I hope I don't have to have another EDG after the band removal. Good luck with u.

  6. I'm day 1 and 26 to go! My band removal is 8/27 and I'm on a 4 week liquid diet. I think having the band helps because today I did fine with it. (But theres 26 days to go) Even when my husband had me drive through the taco shop so he could get a carne asada burrito. (Although I though it was pretty inconsiderate of him)!
  7. Was your band deflated pre op? I keep asking to have my band deflated and they keep saying its not necessary. But doc says if my stomach isn't too inflamed during the band removal he will sleeve me but, to date he has not had a case where the stomach wasn't too inflamed, so to date he's always done in two steps. I'm no doc but I feel like if I'm deflated the stomach may be less inflamed at surgery? But at the same time my 4 week pre op liquid diet will be easier to handle if not deflated. So, were u done in 1 step ? If so, were u deflated or not?
  8. I emailed the doc office and said I wanted it unfilled in hopes of it lessoning the swealing and strengthen my chances of band to sleeve revision in one but they emailed me and said no go. They won't remove the fluid and he won't do it in one surgery. Its okay, I'm okay with 2 but honestly its a little frustrating knowing there are docs that do it one. That's just because I'm impatient and I want this all over with. But now that I know its definitely 2 surgeries I will just get over it and exhibit patience. :+) So the 4 week pre op diet starts tomorrow. Gahhh!!
  9. So I emailed the docs office and asked, no, insisted that I want to be deflated. I don't mean to drive them crazy but it really makes sense to me to have it un- filled. I'm 9cc's in a 12 cc band so that's pretty tight. When you take a ring off that's been stuck too tight on the finger, the finger is super swollen. It just makes sense to me.
  10. Was the removal to sleeve done in 1?

  12. I just got the call, band removal is 8/27 and I have to be on a 4 week liquid diet starting 7/31! Holy crap....no time to mentally prepare. I am crossing my fingers that the surgeon will sleeve me the same day but he has yet to do them in the same procedure. I'm still gonna put that energy out there and hope for that.

Denied - What can I do know?

Idk since its specifically excluded. Try to appeal but if there's anyway to got different insurance than try that. There's always mexico, there are a lot of good reviews.
  14. Oh sorry, its miznunu trying to quit.
  15. Hey kara, I quit using gum because to me helped with oral fixation. I also had coffee stir straws and would chew them. The most morbib thing I did while quitting was this. Every time I felt like smoking I would Invision my self sitting in chemo. I know its no its morbid but that's ultimately what it will turn into if you don't stop. I thought "do I want to suffer thru this craving which will over in 15 mins....or do I want to suffer trough chemo". Hope that helps and good luck to u.
  16. I haven't told anyone and I will respond that I am on a medicalt supervised program (which is true) and working out (also true).. I'm a band to sleeve converter And I don't wanna hear the negative comments from people that don't know the struggle.

    Please Help Me Decide ...

Ive been approved for the band to sleeve conversion. I have one more pre op test next week then we schedule the band removal and sleeve to follow after a few months. I'm kinda nervous too but I'm getting more confident in my decision with each passing day.
  18. Congratulations. I was approved for the band to sleeve revision two weeks ago and I have the same fear. I hear that weight loss can be slower for those of us with the band but I think it depends on the person and their level of commitment. You lacked success with the band because it sounds like you never really felt restriction. That will be different with the sleeve. Are you having the revision in 1 or 2 surgeries? Good luck!

Andrew, how have your appointments gone? Are you moving forward with the sleeve?

    ..... Excited much?

Good luck! I hope u can relax over the weekend.
  21. Greetings! I am curious about other band to sleeve stories. I hade my band put in 5 yrs ago and lost about 90 pounds (slowly) over 2.5 yrs. Then plateaued and started gaining (about 50pounds back on, bmi 40). After my friend had RNY 8 months ago and seeing her successfully lose 100 pounds I realized I need to try something else. I didn't even realize this was an option but I emailed my surgeons office (his preference in lap band) and asked if there were options. The question didn't receive a supportive answer, yet more of a lecture. They do not support having the band removed just because I haven't reached "desired results". I do have a consult with them next week but I'm considering changing medical groups and consulting with a different approved surgery center. In my research I have found that the surgeon I used for the band is a great band surgeon, but has only performed about 200 sleeves and will not perform the RNY unless you are over 400 pounds. I also found that he isn't board certified. There are other surgeons in my area that have performed the RNY and sleeve for many years and see, more supportive (over phone and email) about my inquiry to revise. Just ranting here.....any thought or commentary is welcomed! Thanks WLS community! Cheers
  22. Kristina, who is your surgeon? Mine is Horgan of ucsd. Congrats on your success.
