Weight Watchers Online: Support Thread
KimberlyJ replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank God I found this thread! I have been banded for almost 2 yrs and have not lost a thing. My Doctor and the nutritionist I had was a joke. He was experienced at doing the lap band but he and the nutritionist had no idea what to do after that. I have been struggling and thinking I am a failure the whole time. I then talked to my rheumatologist and she told me that all the meds I am taking for my arthritis is keeping me from losing weight. So great now and additional hurdle to get over. I am wanting to start weight watcher but I am wondering what kind of adjustments do I need to do for this to work. I like the structure idea, which I never had... Any help would be appreciated. Kim -
Anyone in Dayton Ohio have banding done
KimberlyJ replied to NurseTeresa's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Annie I am in the Beavercreek area also, Hoping that we can chat since you have been banded longer than I have. I have many questions lol.... Hope to hear from you soon Kim -
Hi all its Kim! I live in Beavercreek and am looking for help! I was banded on Sept 30 2008 and I have only lost 10 lbs. I am physically challenged, hurt my back and left knee and am having a hard time exercising. I would like to find someone to actually hang out with, walk the malls and other light exercising activities. I hate exercising alone and I hope with someone else doing this with me that it may be easier. So if anyone wants to help a girl out let me know! Thanks Kim

I feel the same, I do have to take a couple of sips of a drink during a meal, or things get stuck. My doctor always bugs me about exercise but I am not able to at this time so losing weight is even harder. -

Thanks everyone for replying! I actually dread going to the doctors now because of the weight gain. I also cannot exercise, I keep hurting myself. My knee feels like it is full of rice krispies and actually went out on me twice yesterday. I guess I am really going to have to have a talk with him. Maybe I can get him to refer me to physical therapy in a pool. That would be easier on my body. I feel so discouraged. I thank you all for making me feel like I am not alone. If anyone wants to talk regularly let me know, It would help me alot. Thanks Kim -

I am burping allot, nausea has calmed down, still in pain, going to have hubby go for some papaya pills. Thanks! I also did the dog position for yoga, that made me start burping more so maybe thats a good sign.... Thanks for not calling me an Idiot, I already know I am one for even trying to eat the orange..... -
Hi, I am 3 weeks post op and feel like I am obsessing already about Protein and making sure I eat enough of it. Had my surgery on military base and they really didn't explain things very well. I am really tired and still sore. Is this normal? I really could use a friend to answer questions, help with foods to eat and just keep me from going crazy! lol... Little more about myself.... I am 43, I don't work right now, but would like to go back in the future, when I lose some more weight. I love to play bing and pogo and of course go watch my daughter at marching band. My husband is Air Force almost 20yrs in. I would love to chat with anyone who wants to not just a mentor. Thanks Kim

Has anyone had pain around their port area?
KimberlyJ posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Sept 30th 2008. Everything has been going ok, I havent had a fill yet but I have pain around my port area. The pain has been there for 4 days now. Has anyone else had this problem? I see the doctor on Monday for my first fill, worried about the pain and not being able to have it done. Anyone out there that can give me some insight? Thanks Kim -
Does anyone have a list of high Protein, low cholesterol foods? I looked all over the internet and there is no list that I can find. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks you two! That helps me out quite a bit! Now I just need to find some recipes for them. Thanks again Kim -
Hazeleyes, sorry I haven't written lately, My father had a heart attack and had triple bypass surgery. After he got home he got an infection and his blood pressure dropped so low they had to give him several transfusions. He is now in a Rehab center and it is slow going, so I have to drive my mom back and forth to see him. Its been a real rough couple of weeks. I hope your doing well.. Keep in touch.... maybe we could exchange email addresses sometime so we don't have to keep posting here. Kim

I got the 5000mcg also, paid 10.50 at walgreens. Where do you work? Is your hubby still military or are you?
-
Hazeleyes, I saw in one of your other posts that you take biotin. How much do you take and is it working for you? My hair is getting thinner and thought I would start taking it before it gets any worse. Kim

the meetings are every second wednesday of the month at 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the hospital cafeteria. I like Dr. Dock but I haven't known him long. I work out at the Beavercreek YMCA. I am just getting started there, I do mostly water workouts. The whirlpool is nice too! I am due for my first fill on Dec. 1st. I had to postpone it from earlier this month due to my father having a heart attack and triple bypass surgery. He is home now and is doing well so I will try to get back into a routine.
-
Dr Dock did my surgery also. He said that I should only need one fill, is he giving me a bunch of huey? He knows I am scared of needles LOL.... I did not go to the meeting today. I am hoping that I can get motivated to hit the next one.
-
Hi Hazeleyes, I haven't received any replies so if you want we can be buddies... I am a military wife at wright patt. I haven't gotten my first fill yet and I am very nervous about it. Will you be going to the meeting today? I don't know if I can make it so just curious. Let me know if you want to chat. Kim

I have started regular food and am doing much better, I am still adjusting to how much to eat.. Thank god I dont get to the point that I get sick though. My throat actually feels tight when I eat a little too much so I am assuming that is my body's way of telling me TOO MUCH!
-
HI all, I am 3 weeks post surgery and am getting hungry allot. How much should I be eating? I eat maybe 3/4 cup of food but my body doesnt tell me that I am full or hungry at that point. Maybe I am not eating enough in a sitting? I am still on mushy but other than greek yogurt nothing really seems to satisfy me. Please help!
