Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
sparky1 replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
good luck to all about to be banded!! I think everyone pain threshold is different for about 4-5days post op the wind nearly killed me but a friend who had the same was fine. although she was black and blue and i wasnt !! she even had hand prints on her :-) Just remember all ...to be patient most of the weight loss in the begining is from liquid diet!! The band needs to be filled slowly and most people dont notice a diffence until 3-5 fills (about 6 months +). I dont want to sound negative but people go in to it (like me) thinkin it is a quick fix. -

thanks for reply freckles but yes this is very normal and as i have said previously everone reacts differently to the band and some people assume its going to work instantly (like me!) When i had my band filled this week I was very happy to be with 4 other women in the waiting room with 3 0r 4 fills each with no restriction as yet. Both fredrick and dr chris have both said when i have seen them previously that this is very normal and restriction is usually met 5-7mls, although some people are lucky like yourself:). I aint worried but a little dispondent. I was also happy to hear that all the other ladies could also eat bread....slowly but possible. Although now to choice im eating healthy without the bread!! fingers crossed thanx again -

hi thanks for the support i joined the forum months ago but aint been on ere in ages. I lost the weight very quickly prior to xmas aint lost nothing for ages and i lost it due to eating healthy and nothing else. the band has done nothing for weight loss (so Far). and i agree its a lot of money and I am continuing to work hard but sometimes its very hard to remain positve but i will get there!! thanx again -

Hi shoes the band the put in is empty and not filled so restriction wont be for a while...some people notice a difference straight away but this is rare. They start to fill your band monthly after your op. I had 4mls first fill which i believe is average then a ml at a time but they will double fill in belguim. dr Chris said most people notice a difference between 3rd or 4th fill (4 months plus after op??) Ive had 5 and half ml in mine and still have no restriction and can eat what i dam well like....its hard work but sure will be well worth it in time -

I was banded by dr chris in oct 2008. Im pleased i had the procedure and would do it 10 times over!!!..but.....as much as i read and researched they dont tell you how tough its goin to be!! I know we are all responsible for what we put in our mouths but when you are told you WILL lose a stone in a month you cant wait for the results! I have lost 2 stone since oct but due to eating healthy and liquids during pre op and fills (NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BAND). I was glad to go for my second fill this week because i can eat vast amounts and whatever i please. Bread occasionally gets stuck if not chewed tidy but when that passes i can easily finish the sandwich!! I have been bad over xmas and actually put on weight (which fredrick wasnt impressed!!) ha ha. I back on track now but wanted everyone to know that this is far from a quick fix!! Like everone else we all want instant results but sitting in the waiting room having a fill and talking to all the other dispondent patients i realise im not alone especially when the woman next to me has lost 4 stone but tells me that it is from folowing weight watchers for the last 8months and not because of the band!! and i breathed a sigh of relief. phewww. And the good old fern briton was banded a few yrs ago and only now looks fantastic....so now ive got that off my chest back i now going back to trying reallly hard and remembering to stay patient and positive and also remember that everyone is different!! -

hiya TC27 its never going to be an easy decision and there will always be negatives, I couldnt wait to have my surgery and researched it well, there are negatives with all cosmetic procedures, you need to do it for yourself and not for others. If you feel you are doing the right thing go for it!! I openly told everyone including work collegues and a few people did think it was quite drastic action but now they are seeing the results thats all im having is support, compliments and encouragement!! Good luck with whatever you decide!! xx -

hiya Im about 30 mins drive from newport, not far from merthyr tydfil. Dont worry about eating too much at the moment remember the band needs to be filled. There are some lucky ones who never need a fill!! Ive noticed that i need to think about eating slowly and chew properly, if eat quick or i suffer unbelieveably (never again)!! but if i think about what im eating and eat really slow i can eat loads, a lot more than a bloody tea plate full!! Cant wait for a fill, but i know its early days and trying to be patient and positive, we will all be size 8 this time next yr!. -

sorry have to agree with mooster, what did he actually lie about? if a person is going to have a band fitted when just a little overweight and dr chris is willing to do it so be it. The person having the band with the low bmi should take full responsibility. Like every other cosmetic procedure ever undertaken...who really needs bigger boobs...fuller lips..and a thinner nose but the person having the procedure obviously thinks so...if you are looking for a british surgeon sorry to disappoint you but you are on the wrong forum. Happily banded dr chris patient! -

lot of contradicting advice... i was told there was one in bristol but not any more, so why still advertise it? I was told only yesterday by fredrick (one of dr chris team) that he visits bristol once a month?? i spoke to the aftercare team and they state they are trying to organise different premises...so fingers crossed. And ive also been informed that first fills are not free as also first advertised and informed.. -

Bit sore and emotional and trapped wind killing me at present but all worth it!! Only annoyance is that i am now told no consultations in bristol which i have been told all along, nearest for me is london 4hrs out of my way but all good! -
