  1. :w00t: i'm about 2 wks post op....now that i'm on mushies i'm afraid i'm going to gain weight. i asked my doc if i'm supposed to worry about calories and she said to just eat about about 1 cup of food at a time. i make healthy choices...but i want to make sure i'm staying on track. i guess i feel like i don't have enough direction? i've been eating about 4-5 times a day...i get in all my protein/water i guess i need some suggestions? did people gain weight before getting restriction? about how many calories should i strive for? i would appreciate any suggestions....thank you so much!!!
  2. i already have anxiety issues to begin with...but the surgery itself was hellish because of those damn footpumps....you can't get any sleep...etc. anyway...i'm feeling much better...relaxing at home getting in my protein and water, but i have bad anxiety about this new journey i was wondering if anyone is experiencing something similar? don't get me wrong...i know i made the right decision ...but it kinda freaks me out a little.... thanks:biggrin:
  3. well i'm glad i'm not the only one weirded out a little....it is very emotional...thank you so much for responding!!!!
  4. i did the same...the little 4oz-ers are great!actually the little fruit chunks don't bother me...i also ad some protein mix to them...the fructose is fine...it's hard to find organic sugar free yogurt:cool2:
  5. i found him on the internet...he has done a ton of these surgeries everywhere...yes, it is laproscopic....yes they recommend the pre-op diet to help you get adjusted, but really it's to shrink your liver and pancreas so he can fit the band in....if you don't do it...it's not a huuuuge deal but he may have to open you up to fit the band in then, which means more recovery time. i do know people that have had bypass from synergy but not lap-band. there was a couple pre-op for lap-band like me at the support group meeting so i'm hoping next time i can talk to someone that has had it. yes, you can just show up to the meetings. i'm going to the next one as well on the 21st. i'm not really scared, i've done my research and i'm ready. i've talked to people who know people with the lap-band and so far everyone has done well. my mom did say she talked to someone who had it done, and she said she would never do it again, because she had some hair loss (which is normal but it grows back plus you can take biotin) so yeah, she didn't like that or not being able to eat certain things so she had it taken out. however, this says to me that maybe she wasn't ready, or didn't have the support, or was not taking her vitamins...i don't know, i know not everyone has a great experience, but i know i'm ready. and if all else fails, it CAN be removed y'know?:wink2:
  6. it was pretty quick...i started the process in july, and my surgery could be scheduled for november, but i'm waiting til after x-mas. it all depends on you i guess, the quicker you get all of the blood work done and doctors stuff the quicker they can schedule it. you can always call there and ask questions...they are very helpful or you can check out a support group meeting every 2nd and 4th tuesday at 6 right at their office. viglianco is great! he's got a great bedside manner and willing to answer any questions you have. i did a lot of research before i went with questions prepared. when you go for the pre-op exercise/nutrition class they answer any questions you have and give you a book of what things you should eat/not eat...etc. i just enjoy all of the support and viglianco is world renown....so i'm excited!
  7. hi all, synergy is pretty quick...i could have a sooner surgery date, but i wanted to wait...my co-worker and i started this process at the same time, his surgery will be early november, we both started in July....so yeah...pretty quick!!! i don't know linda, but glad to hear things are well  i'm going to a support group meeting tonight to hear from some people, even though i'm like 98% sure i'm still going through with it....i am going to miss my chicken wings tho:sad:
  8. Hello everyone! i have already gone through some of the pre-op stuff, i have a psych. eval coming up soon, but i suspect that will be fine. My main question is; is your quality of life that much better after surgery? i guess i wonder about 'addiction transfer'....i'm afraid of turning to alcohol or something because of not getting that satisfaction from food....anyone experience this? what are the hardest things you've had to deal with?...and how did you deal with it? thanks so much and good luck to everyone!:smile2:

Lesbians more likely to be obese

in my city....i could definitely see this to be true....however, i think it my depends on the age. i've noticed the older they get, the chunkier they get....but god love'em! years ago when i dating men, i definitely paid more attention to my appearance. now life with my partner is wonderful, and we support each other's chunkyness! can't wait to get banded though...i'm scheduled for early january! i'm looking forward to more energy and a couple more looks from some hot young chicks!
  10. hi....i'm going thru viglianco....surgery scheduled early january....you? i like him a lot!
  11. hello fellow buffalonians, i'm going through Synergy Bariatrics in Williamsville, his name is Dr. Vigilianco. they are awesome there!!!!!!!! they have support group meetings, an exercise facility which you get to use free for 3 months, not to mention all the support they give you! my surgery is scheduled for early january. i did consider going through hoffman, i have heard good things about him, however i know people at my work that went through synergy and have had wonderful experiences! the only thing i don't recommend is going through kaleida health weight loss center doctor...forgot the name but i've heard nothing but bad stuff about him. feel free to ask any questions! and good luck!:smile2:
