I am excited that we are all here for each other also. Makes me not feel soooo alone:) All i recommend is after orientation start the diet, try and loose 10% as fast as possible, that will push you thru the program!:tongue2:

Ok so, today was my surgeon appt All went spectacular, got there got weighed :cursing: then went in to meet Dr Baggs. Very nice man. He asked which procedure i wanted, and told me it was the best option. He said with my bmi that I should get a very good weight loss with it, and maintain. He said with the RNY the chances of malnutrition are very high, and it's not a safe option when I know I want another baby. So LapBand Im stickin to, I asked about the % of success charts you can find, and he said 1st off you have to look where you find them, most are trying to get the higher paid surgery, 2nd the lap band is newer. There are a lot of bands out currently, so they can't say what the loss is in 5, 10 and so on years, but it is made to stay in us for a loooong time and be adjustable for life. (unlike bypass) So now, I get to get my case manager appt on monday, and i told him id like to have the surgery sooner then later because i have a trip in march.. he said it is achievable. So we will see, but kaiser richmond has 1 Case Manager for ALL OF US! So talk about a busy schedule!!! So i also got all my labs ordered gotta go do those asap, then the pre op class, then he said OR..:tongue2: wow, scary! But exciting, but scary lol.:thumbup:

You know if you look at my history of what I have posted, you will find that I asked a very similar question. I think we all get "cold" feet. I went to orientation Nov 4 came home and in 2 weeks lost like 15 lbs so was like do i really need surgery.. so I posted a question on here.. I did get some nice answers and one person said "you cant do it on your own" That made me even more want to. Well here i am almost 2 months from Nov 4, and I did the Psych appt and I meet with my surgeon fri, i was going to quit but the cold hard truth is, i have been fat my whole life. I am scared to see me thin.. so i am putting on some slippers and getting the surgery! I know I can probably loose it all on my own, but, will i be still at goal in 3 yrs after i get more lazy on my diet? NOPE no way! Just keep going to your appts and loosing weight you have up until u are about to go into or to change your mind.

Ok, I have started this wonderful journey went to the pcp a month ago then 6 weeks later went to the Orientation, which i do have to say is inspiring. Not towards the band lol. Well they gave us a binder, with what we can and cant eat and so on. I am starting to think i wonder if i can trick myself. Like not cancel any of my appts which next isnt even for 2 months, but to keep on track for my banding, but do the diet to a T and everything.. The dr said the band was just that, and its not a miracle and so on, and that the job was ours to change how we feel about food. Do any of you feel you could have done the same diet you are now without having surgery?? I joined the gym and paid for a trainer.. i am going to do the 1200 calorie diet and weigh the food like my binder says.. and only eat a cup of food etc, and do a Water diet one day a week.. do you think its possible? Or am i in a pipe dream of fairytale land??:smile2::thumbup:

The decision for me is VERY hard! I even went thru a phase after orientation where I was going to back out, but Ive had 6 weeks to think about it lol, and I want to loose it forever, I am tired of weight loss then turn around Blink and its back... I too can't make up my mind on the surgeries.. here are my thoughts: LB: Pros: *I like that it can be deflated and refilled with my lifestyle changes , IE pregnancy. *I like that it is not rerouting my intestines, and i can still absorb nutrients. *Less Complication rate *Short Hospital stay *I have a tendency of infection, so nto cutting my intestines is a good thing. *no dumping *my husband prefers lb *can be removed if i end up deathly ill. *I do like that i can eat almost anything, because i dont have an issue with sweets.. Cons: *Foreign object *Can slip, leak, etc. *Fills *Needles needed for said fills:eek::tongue2: *If i move what happens............ RNY: Pros *fast weight loss *lower chance of regain *dont need needles to get fills;) *no foreign object in my body *no slips *hmmm Cons *can leak and if so it is an emergency..... *Faster weight loss isnt the best for our bodies *they say babies often end up malnurished.. not good since i want another baby *Longer hospital stay *"If you're not good at "remembering" to take vitamins, you better get good at it real quick, or think twice about this malabsorptive type of bariatric surgery. " *"Many of those who thought that getting sick from eating sugar would make them stop......haven't stopped." *"Also, over time, you may be able to tolerate small amounts of sugar without consequence and that can eventually lead to gaining weight back." Considering Weight Loss Surgery? Consider This! - where i got the quotes So i am really pretty lost at which to go with, I do not like the idea of fills, but i also don't like the idea of being malnurished.. GOOD LUCK TO EVERY ONE OF US:):huh2:

HI!
So did they contact you for an appt? Have you checked on your kaiser appt area? I was thinking, don't rush for an appt, tell them even 4 weeks out is ok.. but loose your 10%. Then when you go to meet the psych, she will push you thru to the surgeon. That is what i am going thru. Im am at goal weight, and whe n i finally meet the psych she had me scheduled with the surgeon this week!
On the boards you will see many people having to then wait to loose their 10% before moving forward.. The ladies in the office said a VERY small amnt of patients actually hit goal before seeing their surgoen and when they do they work for us:D
BTW i think our nutrition lady needs to eat some sweets;)
-
New Binder?!?! Cool ill check that out. You are Dr Baggs too? I wonder if they do it by orientation, because ours was the same day?? OH and yes you can loose 10lbs in a month EASY:) I need to maintain! With the holidays im scared!!!!
-
Yes I meet with DR Baggs on Friday, I am quite nervous, its hard having holidays between appts lol

Hello, Ok i am a part of Kaiser, it is a HMO i believe, where the drs and nurses, staff, hospital etc are all employed via the same company.. So I pay kaiser and they pay their employees... WELL even they charge astronomical.. I gave birth and because it was an emergency situation they first billed for time in the laboring room, then they billed for the pitocen etc, and then the thing that attached to my babies head to monitor her and so on. Then i got my epidural, and they messed up so there were 2 charges there. Then it was an emergency C-section so they charged there. Then they knocked me out so charged over 1k for the (put mom to sleep drug) then they charged for my extended time in recovery, then it just got worse.. I ended up with a private room for one day so got the charge on that and since i had a infection i got a special pass to stay 7 days..$$$ then, they had me on 3 antibiotics 2x a day via IV so more $$$$, then i had to use a lactation lady $$ and also a psych lady because after being in a small room with 3 other women, and babies, and visitors and feelin like ass i kinda went crazy lol so more $$$ Needless to say they sent us the paper that says this is not a bill: it was over 180k.. Needless to say my copay was ZERO! VSP (vision service plan) has a SPECTACULAR Employee program, and they paid the copays whatever they were. So the point is, i think hospitals like to bill as much as they can even though they know they wont get that much, also since it will be a neg, they could get a tax right off..........

They have someone out of office.. I dont know about the appts i just know i go back on fri. I heard they have 80 referrals a week! wow. The bypass and lap band patients go thru the same process.. I am getting Dr Baggs. I have a feeling after the new year it will be more rough! Because, they are opening it up so people dont have to get a PCP referal.. so you can imagine.. So, hopefully they call asap. I am going to bed now:D Good luck!!!! Hope you get a call asap! They are in the office Fri.
-
Ok So.. I had my psych appt today... that was interesting, she told me there was 20 people in the room.. I didn't get it lol. So on with life, they show me as being at goal weight. SOOO she said lets get u into the dr. So next week i come back to see one of the surgeons!  I am so nervous, this process is sure one roller coaster!

Some things I have found that made me not feel the Starvation mode. Eat High Protein items... They arent used in the stomach for about 3 hours so that should help. I got a chart from My healthy Ways class and it says Sugars will make u hungry in 1 hr, Starch you will be hungry within 2 hrs Protein in 3 hours. I also try to drink a hecka lot of Water.. Good Luck! Be patient with them, they are super duper busy, and i just found out to get a surgery referral you don't have to go thru PCP as of Jan 1.. It was in the new insurance information for the new year. I had orientation Nov 4 and FINALLY tomorrow i get to go in.

Kaiser disqualified me, now what?
AudsMom replied to knbmom9699's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got a letter in the mail that now kaiser plans will not require a pcp referal so that should help.. its supposed to be for 2009. -
I love these parties. The only reason i choose Passion Parties, is they can be much more classy. When looking around make sure they are not going to talk about anything you don't care about ... i didnt like the coochy creme and i didnt like how their vibes had pics of people having sex. So just watch the company you pic. But i know Pure romance is a lot like us. And if they do cary a stock, keep in mind they had to pay for it all... So they might require a deposit...
