I was banded 1/26/09 at Lakeland Hospital in Niles. I am from Three Rivers. Dr. Schuhknecht from Lakeland Comprehensive Weight Loss Center is really good. I just had my first fill today and all I can say is he is wonderful and I would recommend him to anyone! T

    January 26th

I was banded the 26th. I think that my post surgery swelling has gone down becasue this weekend and today I feel like I am starving. But I will eat a little bit feel ok and then hungry again. I think it may be mental, but I have only been eating around 400-500 calories a day. I have lost 27 lbs but I think I am eating too little and that I may be going into starvation mode. I have been getting around 50g of protein in. I have been exercising too. Any suggestions? I still am in the mushy stage.

    Hospital

I wonder if its because we cannot drink anything for so long before. Even with the IV I still did not have to go that much and I have a standing appt hourly with the bathroom.

    Hospital

I had my surgery 1/26, went in at 5:40 am, surgery at 7:40. The drug that they gave me to dry up my mouth was terrible! I was in recovery at 10 I think? I had to stay the night and I had a pain pump which was wonderful until the next morning. I went in to the bathroom and I had big red welts under my eyes and everytime I hit the pain pump I started itching. I was allergic to the Morphine. I had to do the barium swallow @ 11 that was terrible tasting! Then I went home. At home the first night I was in bad pain. I slept on the couch for 5 days because it hurt to lay down flat. But I have lost 21.5 lbs in 2 weeks with no post op diet. Well worth it. Tracey:w00t:

I was just wondering how everyone banded in Jan was doing. I was 1/26 and I am down 21.5 lbs. I did not have to do any kind of post op diet. Has anyone came up with any interesting food choices? Tracey
  9. I was 1/26 too, and I keep weighing myself on my Wii Fit too. I am down 15 lbs. I love my Wii.

2 days post-op and boy it hurts...

I had my surgery 1/26 and I still am taking my liquid vicoden every 2 hrs or so. My port site is really painful. It is getting better everyday. I have been weighing myself on my Wii fit and I am down over 15 lbs so far. I know a lot of it was fluids from the surgery. Does anyone have a good Protein drink that they like? I have Designer whey but it tastes terrible.

Can someone tell me about Max-Out-Of-Pocket?

I have a $2000 out of pocket max and a $200 copay. I have to pay $2200 on Tuesday. Still ouch, but I put mine in my health care spending account. Good Luck
  13. I am so excited! I called the Dr office last Monday to make sure all the paperwork was in, they turned it into my insurance. The Dr office called me Thursday to set up the surgery as they got approval. I was not expecting to get banded until March. Still shocked, but very thankful! Any tips? I have me pre surgery appt Tuesday. I have not started any special pre op diet. I do not think that Dr requires one. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting through the next 2 weeks and immediately after? What is good to eat? Stuff like that? Thanks Tracey:teeth_smile:

    I can't wait

I have had all my tests (borderline diabetes, sleep apnea and high cholestrol), seen the psychologist and I am just waiting for all my paperwork to come in. I have to wait 6 months to have the surgery and be under a Dr's care for weight loss (a requirement for my insurance), I have 2 months of that down. I am thinking that my surgery will be end of January 2009 and I am the most impatient person alive! Any words of wisdom or pointers? Thanks Tracey
