Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
winsprettywoman replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Apples: Do you have a link or can you share some info on the pre-opt diet you used. I'd like to start on something attainable well before I have my surgery -- sounds like you're the right person to ask. Congrats on your success. I too am really concerned about arm and belly flab, but i guess I'll take it one crisis at a time. -

This is truly a problem for me. I am a retail Women's store owner - small shop - chief cook and bottle washer, actively in church, struggling in this economic times, absolutely no will power, creative and impulsive and if I have anything (like sushi) more than 3 days in a row, I'm addicted. I need help controlling myself, limiting portions and being consistent. I can't tell just how much Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem would cost or if I can afford them right now. Has anyone lost weight from the grocers freezer foods? Does anyone have any suggestions? Hell, if I could lose 30-40 that quick, I probably wouldn't need to go this route? -
Hi Good-Banders: Pretty Woman Here. I decided to have the lap band. I've been at this since 2005 scheduled for by-pass, went through all the hoops and jumps with Kaiser & UCLA, then had to change HMO's. While starting over - heard about LB and decided this may be safer. OH, Congrats to "goodbye lady". What in the world is a FILL? HAS ANYONE NEVER HAD A FILL? IS MY BMI OF 54 BAD FOR SURGERY - LIKE COULD THEY DENY ME BECAUSE I'M TOO FAT??? yikes!! help a sista out here - I don't like surprises, that's why I'm joining you NOW!

Whole foods market has the salt free broth and sugar free syrup. We get it for my 5 year old grandson who is diabetic. -

I'm a new user. I know this group will be more helpful to me. Thanks for the info like "this is a tool not the cure" and "exercise is key". I switched from wanting the gastric by-pass to the lap band and joined this site for support and info. I will start the long journey all over again since changing insurance companies. One question is: Is anyone on medications that might slow down or hamper normal weight loss expectations. We sometime have arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, pains requiring pain killers, etc. How do we manage that after surgery? -
How do you get 60g of protein in a day?

remove the URL from your ticker tracker. I doubt if anyone would, but it allows someone to go in and view/edit your personal info. It shouldn't show. Probably remove it from your signature page under quick link. -

Hey Puna T: I didn't realize you were in Hawaii. You've got some challenges. If there is a Trader Joes on the Island, try Designer whey Protein powder - 2 flavors. There is also a 20 and a 32 gm individual can right on the shelf under it (forgot the name) it tastes good and can be used in Water (the powder). -

:crying: You're getting a lot of good info on this question. Seems like many people have had the same query. Here's a website for all Vitamins, Minerals, Proteins and everything for Bariatric Surgery patients that have had the BY-PASS. Their requirements are strict. Since I had planned that route before now registering for the band, I still use my notes and UCLA class training: The best one is a 42gm tube of liquid you can put in Water and there is feedback on each items on the site: www.bariatricchoice.com (includes prices)
