I thought this might help you. I get my fills (for free), was banded in Mexico, by Dr. Jim at the Grande Prairie Hosp. He's a radioligist, does many of them (perfectly under flouro). You will need a doctor referral though. I didn't have to wait that long. Good luck

I'm from Canada. Before I was banded in Oct, 2008 I was tested for H. Pylori bacteria (as I have previously had ulcers and been treated for the H. Plyori bacheria), before I left to Mexico for the surgery. I also got an upper GI done at the hospital (just to make sure there was no problems). I recently just tested positive for H. Pylori again. I remember reading, on a previous post, that many lapband patients have this problem afterwards. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had this happen and any words of advise on how to avoid it from recurring. I am undergoing treatment again. Do I need to get an unfill? Thanks.

I was banded in Mexico with Dr. Kuri. I had a facilitator. She has called me several times since being home and emailed. She also helped answer some of my questions before the surgery. I have also contacted her, instead of the office (as I thought it would be quicker and easier), regarding what my first fill should be. All in all, a facilitator has helped me on this journey.

I reached my 30 pound loss yesterday, feels great. Yes they are free at Grande Prairie, Queen Elizabeth Hosp. with Dr. Jim, a Radioligist. Because he is a specialist, you will need a doctor referral. I phoned in advance of booking an appointment to make sure they would except an out of province and Mexico banded patient. NO Problem. FYI there is also a doctor in St. Albert that does fills. Dr. Daviduck (780)460-4562. Also Dr. Mitchell in Calgary (403)264-6720. He was training someone in Edmonton last time I heard. Call his office and check it out. Good Luck. Hi. Sorry it took so long to answer. I'm from norther BC but plan on my first fill Jan 27, 2009 at Grande Prairie as the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. I was banded in Mexico and Alberta and BC doctors that do fills will do them free of charge, regardless of where you were banded. (There may be an exception to this for the Eastern Canada trained Doctors willing to fill only Their own clinics patients, I'm not sure). Which part of Alberta are you from? There are quite a few that fill in different areas. Please let us know where. Hope this helps.

I was banded Oct 25/08 and my first fill is to be mid Jan. When I spoke to the Radioligist and told him I had a 4cc band, he said they are not common. I have never figured out why exactly I got a 4cc. At any rate I just wanted to know from anyone out there that has a 4cc band how much they got for their first fill? I have a small amount restriction or rather tightness in the morning. Thanks for the help.
